Hey, so, I like halo a lot- I read into a lot of the lore and like the games, novels, and story of the whole thing. But one thing has always sort of- got to me. Generally I think of it like this: 150 S-II candidates, 75 S-II trained and augmented S-IIs, 45 survivors (augmentations), 33 full “Spartans” that’d go on as soldiers serving the war effort (not including washouts, which are “added” to the list later)
However, when using lists of SPARTAN-IIs from this forum and Halopedia, there’s more than 33 SPARTANs listed in the fully augmented part- the washouts that later became full are usually included separately. When not including the washouts, there’s 41 individual S-IIs that survived the augmentations healthily. This is what confuses me; if there’s only supposed to be 33 (36 after HW Red Team) in canon, why are there 41 that seem to have survived augmentations? This is what always sort of bothered me but couldn’t find any answers/questions asked on any forums (this one, bungie, reddit, etc…)

It could be that there were more washouts that were later fixed than we previously thought. It’s possible there’s another answer that 343I just hasn’t given us enough information for us to figure out yet (such as if there were a second class of Spartan Twos).
I suspect we’ll get an answer eventually.

Hey I got off work at 3 AM! That shower scene was the only thing keeping me going actually.
Crap. Well ya got me. That is an inconsistency that hopefully 343 Industries can repair. I have faith in them.
Weird ain’t it how some of the story’s of some of the other SIIs haven’t been explored yet.
