Utter pain. I think I’ve had 2 BR games, about 15 Sidekick games and probably about 5 Mangler games. I’ve only been playing this event for like 6 to 8 hours in total but it feels like an entire week has gone past. Tactical Slayer is just not fun and frankly, shouldn’t be an event at all.
Due to MMR being in effect across all playlists, it meant when I started to do well in Quick Play and BTB (you know, under normal circumstances) it meant my next game in Tactical Slayer was an absolute sweat fest and I was plunged into a lobby I should never have been in.
MMR honestly breaks this game. Pair that with the issue surrounding ping in a flinch like mode of BRs, & pistols it becomes so tiresome.
The only thing I’m proud of is I quit 0 games in the process.
Good luck to everyone that hasn’t finished yet. You’ll get there.
Do you have buy battle pass to do this event or have challenges because I just see I completed chalagrs but I have no ideal what type challenge it was I got emilies key chain
You do not have to buy the battle pass. Looks like you did three challenges already if you got the Emile charm. I couldn’t tell you what those challenges were though.
I agree that this event is incredibly stupid, frustrating, and un-fun. I absolutely hate playing SAT in general, and now they made these challenges which are super random and un-fun to accomplish.
However, I strongly disagree with:
All games should be sweat fests. I know that might seem like an unpopular thing to say, but first of all, I don’t think what most people call a “sweat fest” (a game they can’t easily win" is really truly a sweat fest, and that it is a bad thing.
I also disagree with you. MMR has a proven track record to ruin gameplay because it’s never implemented properly across all the games that seem to push for it so much.
What? Why should every single game be ‘sweaty’? I don’t mean you should have lots of easy games, but you shouldn’t have to try so hard constantly just to scrape a win. I feel as though in previous Halos you could have a few games laid back without trying. MMR means you can’t just have fun in a game and drive a Warthog around because you’ll constantly get slapped.
Games in Infinite are consistently mismatched because MMR is carried over between social playlists and Bot Bootcamp. It means that ranked matches are spoiled because people have ranks that may not represent their current skill level. It’s proven you can tank social games and go into ranked and boost your overall rating. MMR in Infinite has the worst implementation I’ve seen in any game ever.
I’ll say that I think SWAT with Manglers is absolutely terrible and should never be done again. However, gonna agree with olan above and say you’re wrong about the background ranking system. The whole point is to try and match you with people who are likely to give each other a good fight. You say you don’t think every match should be “trying so hard just to scrape a win” but remember. For those games that you didn’t have to sweat it out to try and win, the other team was feeling like it was a sweat fest and that it wasn’t laid back. When it’s a “sweat fest” and you had to really focus to win, the system did its job right. When you could just lay back and breeze through to a victory, it failed.
I stayed unranked so the game keeps me at the bottom… Easy peasy rounds.
But yea I stopped after unlocking scorpion punch. And I didn’t even do the work. While at work I had the wife just play 5 rounds and that was it. The helmet attachment looks gofy so I’m sitting that out. And I don’t care for the weekly. I already have a green visor I don’t wear
