I've been thinking, and...

…What if the armor customizations actually did what the flavor text says?

If by that you mean having armour with specific gameplay traits for what it’s use is from a design perspective then hell no. Would lead to major balancing issues

It would have to be in a special WZ mode but would create an even more defined meta.

That would lead to some very interesting gameplay. I don’t see it being any different from other games that use class based systems. And honestly I would welcome it if it were in it’s own gamemode like Warzone or a sub-type of BTB.

You would have Halo 4.5… no good.

Nope. Just nope. Don’t wanna wear seeker for like 25% damage reduction or something.

I seconded this.

NO. Halo is an arena shooter. It doesn’t need classes. It doesn’t need to be COD. It doesn’t need to be a hero shooter. Halo needs to be Halo. Guns, grenades, melee. Halo 1, 2, and 3 were system sellers. They dominated Xbox live (excluding CE because live wasn’t a thing) for years. Halo 5 has an abysmal population. It can’t even stay in the top ten most played list and is like the 100th most viewed game on twitch. Halo doesn’t need change for the sake of change. Halo needs to refine and sharpen what was already a proven formula for success.

I’d rather it not. As stated many times above it would lead to some serious issues with competitive play. It would be cool if each helmet came with its own HUD though.

I like the sound of that. To be honest it’s basicly just the same as having armour mods you could just equip the mod to your armour type. If the mod doesn’t exist then its an option 343 could create mods on.

I would say Halo 5 is pretty much just Halo 4 meta pre Halo 5 existence. I don’t know about 4 now a days but I assume the meta players on halo 4 would of moved to 5.

I personally think the classes in halo was one of the best things ever to be in halo along with equipment. It made it feel more like a high tech military shooter. I think it’s nonsense the UNSC would take a step back. Being more like CE is not a good thing.

The full Achilles set would grant you;

  • %50 Thruster Recharge Rate - %75 Extra Shields - %100 Extra Health - %50 Faster Shield Recharge - %75 Health Recharge - %50 Movement Speed - %60 Strafe Speed - %80 Reload Speed - %50 Jump Height - %15 Smaller Hitbox, especially near the head - %5 Extra Damage - Instant Respawns - Duel Wielding - Sprinting with Turrets

Cool idea. But putting that all together and balancing all that would just, destroy some of the fundamental elements that make Halo, Halo.

Yes, and in those years(02-07) Halo had little to no competition. Battlefield and Call of Duty weren’t relevant until 07+, so the only big name in console shooters in that time was Halo. People really seem to forget that fact.

It would be neat for its own mode.

What is this, Destiny?

Yeah, Halo wouldn’t be fun if that is how it worked.

you’re basically asking for Halo to become Destiny with all of its glorious unbalance chaos. yeah no thank you!

that’s what Warzone armor mods are for

If they did that’d be cool but gladly it isint it’s just to give a little lore to the armor

Just look at for honor for a small sample of that.
For Honor is very unbalanced right now.
