I've been banned

So I’m getting pretty annoyed with halo 5 at the moment as I’ve been banned twice already!? I think I idled one game not on purpose and when I came back I was able to play one game of breakout. As soon as that game ended I got messaged with I have been banned!? What?! Why!? Can someone tell me who I have to speak to to get unbanned!?

Not sure about your 1 idling thing… But I can tel you they are trying to crack down on idlers, leavers and betrayer a big time. I would say around 30% of my arena games and 95% of my warzone games at least one person would quit each game. Them leaving makes a good chance that game will result in a loss. So I for one am hoping they keep going with this Banhammer. And before people say what if your internet is buggin out… Uhh then don’t play while its buggin out. Simple.

Have to agree here. Too many games are ruined by people who quit or waste space by being AFC. It’s about time developers started weeding them out.
As for those who get banned for accidents, all you have to do is be more conscious about it. I know that’s not the answer you want, but it’ll work.
In the most extreme cases of unjust banning, Id try my best to contact a representative from Microsoft or 343 and plead your case.

Idlers and quitters deserve to be banned.

I’ve been in games and seen people idling from the very beginning of the match. Makes them easy targets for the other team and gives the other team an instant advantage.

As for betrayers. I know it’s possible to betray accidentally. I’ve done it myself once which means I am now just extra careful to avoid friendly fire and I don’t just spam grenades.

As long as they have an allowance for time to change controller batteries if they die in the idle time, then I support banning of people who just sit there, leave or betray too much.

Also I like how OP said he’s been banned twice. But he “thinks” he only idled once… Why would they ban you twice if you “possibly” only idled once.

help, i don’t have notice of me being banned… but i killed my own teammate before it didn’t allow me to renter arena. how long am i banned for? how do i fix this?

I mostly agree. I think I heard they have a system to measure the players and who/when to ban. Like it seriously annoys the hell out of me when mid or start of a game people quit and it seems like because they’re not going great, and then the team loses.
But just earlier I was in a game, and I was one of the top 3 scorers in my team, and we were winning, when my timer for my dinner in the oven went off and I would rather quit the game than let my house burn down…
So with the ban system is it only repeat offenders?

I should add thats the first time I’ve ever quit.

I hope the bans refresh monthly so you are not stuck with your mistakes forever.

I was trying to get that power up on Orion that’s out on that platform … and I died like 4 times trying to thrust out to get it and missed the mark, and I got warning for committing too many suicides. That and then there was the match where my team had 7 kills and the other team had 40 so I kept jumping off the Rig because … why not? and they yelled at me too. So I stopped. lol

Seems fair to me. You deserve getting banned if you’re going to sit idle in the middle of a game. It’s utterly annoying for the rest of the team that is present. Doesn’t matter whether it was on purpose or not.

I hope they crack down even harder on these kinds of people.

Are bans permanent? Is there any info to read? I haven’t been banned but would like to know what the score is?

I don’t think you would get banned for just quitting once.

I wasn’t banned when I accidentally betrayed someone.

It will be persistent quitters that are banned. Those who frequently quit.

Halo reach had a ban system for quitters too. I never got banned for the occasional unavoidable quit like having to answer phone or turn oven off.

But I did get banned once when one of the map packs got corrupted on my hard drive and wouldn’t load causing the game to think I had quit multiple times in a short period of time. So I know the ban hammer was there because of that.

By that logic we should ban bad teammates that feed kills to the other team, since they are more of a detriment than quitters in Slayer.

-inputs must be repeated (don’t carry over) when clambering or boosting
-no social playlists, no variety.
-aiming acceleration has deadzones, making it terrible and very notice. Aiming diagonally is slower than aiming side to side and aiming up is even slower. The -Yoink-.
-radar needs to be increased or just removed. It baits people into a false sense of security. We move twice as fast yet the radar is half the size.nice.
-taking away scoring in campaign, limiting custom game options. A general rule for sequels: don’t remove previous positive steps forward that are simple to carry over.
-warzone especially atk/def is poorly organized
-removing customization options (shoulders, etc). yet again, lame af.
-not being able to sprint whilst being shot. Extremely lame
-the time it takes to die in legendary is stupidly low
-weapon timers. The timers are way way too low. Securing a railgun can guarantee that you can control that whole side of the map until it respawns. Since and repeat. (railgun is also quite op)
-and not launching with forge and more maps. Stop. Releasing. Unfinished. Products. Don’t be surprised when halo 5 is abandoned. So disappointed with your “pro team.” Being worse than Halo 4 is saying a lot.
-Campaign was disgraceful as a whole. (What did you guys work on during the 11 month delay since the beta? The multiplayer is noticeably worse since then (aiming not working and radar)).
-Lying about the number of missions? (saying there are 15 and adding 3 walk around missions simply to be able to lie about it)Unless these things are addressed nearly immediately, the population will disappear rapidly. It is already happening. And deservingly so. MCC was a nightmare and yet some key mistakes (aiming acceleration and deadzones) are being repeated. Out of my 8 friends that I play with, all dislike the game. Two have traded it on. The reset were playing different games today. They abandoned it hoping it may be fixed in the future.the lack of talent and common sense stemming from 343 is impossible to ignore. Certainly the last time I am support them if these issues are not addressed right away.
-booting/banning people for killing teammates after the game has ended? Nice
-spawning outside of the map
-unable to calculate KDA? Nice. I have just over a 2.0 yet it displays as a 10. Messing up an excel spreadsheet is unacceptable
-no medal chest at the end of games? K
-did the marketing directions never play the game?

  • Spartan companies, yet no clan matches
-over inflating ranks. So many subpar players are getting played super highly. Take a note from league of legends. Start them low and let them climb.
-beat downs lunging but not hitting?
-friendly AI are atrocious. Stopping two feet infront of you, not reviving, barely participating in fights, etc
-rarity of armors, etc does not show after unlock.
-story writing was just painful. Both dialogue and story.

What are you going on about?

As far as I’m aware, you can’t speak to anyone to get your ban lifted. It’s a punishment for unsportsmanlike conduct, so the solution is to be more sporting in future. As much as people like to think it is, playing a multiplayer game isn’t just about our experience. We, as gamers, have a responsibility to ensure that all players have as fun a game as possible through decent and proper conduct.

You obviously idled several times. Good riddance.

I’m sure 343 is calculating metrics on idlers, quitters, suicides and betrayals. And I’m equally sure they’ll adjust the timers on the back end accordingly. But frankly, I’d rather they have things ratcheted down pretty tight to begin with right now and get folks to be more conscious of what they’re doing in a match, and then slowly start letting things out once they analyze their data.

There are instances, especially with suicides, that it can’t really be avoided due to map design. One wrong step or missed jump/clamber/thrust, and you’re paste. I think if they measured death by environment (i.e., falling) separate from other means like stomping on your own grenades or missiles, it might reduce or eliminate some of the “accidental” suicide warnings/bans.
