Everyone agrees the gameplay is sweet. Everyone agrees progression was messed up but getting better. Everyone agrees microtransations are beyond unreasonable.
But no one seems to be talking about the complete lack of content in a game that took 6 years to make. How many times we gonna play the same few maps over and over while we wait for new content?
Im not a fan of forge but i kinda wish we had it at the moment just because the actual game feels so bare bones.
Even the campaign is launching without coop.
Player retention will begin to drop if more maps and modes are not added soon. Only the competitive side will remain if we dont start to see somthing of a road map. 6 months for 1 season isnt a roadmap. How likely are we to get new maps before then?
I guess 3 months wouldnt have been the worst wait time honestly even that seems slow. Games like fortnite have kept there player retention by adding new guns or map changes almost weekly, if not atleast every 2 weeks. Granted not all the changes are huge but it gives the players a reason to return.
Halo has always had a split fanbase between people like me who prefure to competitive play and players that enjoy custom games.
At the moment the competitive side is broken due to cross play not giving a fair playing field and the custom players basically have nothing
New maps and game types will atleast help to keep things a little more fresh for everyone while we wait for the larger content drops.
All that being said, if it turns out we get a new map in the next few weeks (which i doubt we will) then i will be more than happy to say i was wrong not to have faith in 343.

Il never understand why people get so offended when someone brings up a tpoic they dont agree on. We litrally all love the game. We all just want to see it do well.

Despite everyones complaints about progression and microtransations, lack of content will be the real downfall of a game like this
It’s called we want to play game modes that other Halo games had. It’s better to start with more content then less, and over time condense to keep the population from splitting. I don’t want to have to wait for an event for modes that other games had, and only for that mode to disappear. There’s nothing wrong with the content we have, but older games have given us more.
Honestly im already bored of everything the game has to offer. I spent years playing the halo with friends and by myself but here i only feel the want to play by myself.
But the lack of player choice and lack of maps makes me only play when i have my friends to play with. I cant just kick back and play slayer or ffa.
Guenuinely, in 2021 with gamepass & steam sales & everything backwards compatible & Netflix & everything else, games can’t afford to launch barebones cause people will simply move on as soon as they’ve experienced a few hours of all the modes and campaign, unless they target a very specific audience (ie, they’re a battle royale).
Imo Halo doesn’t fall into this category so it needs more content to stay relevant beyond the fans who would play regardless. Hell, even the halo diehards are at risk of returning to MCC.
I have no idea how what you just said is relevant to this thread - but I will say that the point of forge + custom games is they basically enable unlimited free content because when the tools are good you can create almost anything & always switch it up.
But we don’t have forge or a competent custom games system right now.
I think it’s not as much of a hot topic right now because we’re in “beta”. Little do they know this is essentially full release because this is all we’re getting at “launch” in terms of content. I think people are under the assumption this is only a slice of the game and we’re getting a lot more come Dec 8, boy there’s gonna be a lot of angry people.
