It's Time to Make the Flag a Loadout Weapon

Lately I’ve been struggling to max out the “Close Quarters” commendation. I started by running around levels with infinite sprint, but usually the other players subdued me with a DMR or an ordnance weapon before I could reach them. After they beat me, they would often come over and search my corpse for weapons; they must have assumed I had a really good weapon, because they would crouch down to inspect the area several times before continuing on.

Frustrated by the strategy of actually moving around in the game, I eventually decided to quietly hide behind corners and to wait for unsuspecting enemies to pass by. Because I wasn’t actually doing anything with my controller for extended periods of time, I decided to remove the batteries from my controller until the radar showed a nearby enemy. I wanted to conserve the batteries’ power, as such.

Lamentably, I frequently took too long to reinsert the batteries into the controller; by the time I could move again, the previously unsuspecting enemy would notice me and assassinate me. (I really don’t approve of assassinating players that aren’t even moving!) These players, too, would take a few seconds to search my remains for new weaponry and stuff. I was really getting upset! Today, though, I had a wonderful idea.

We need the option of using the Flag as a loadout weapon. The Flag offers players a very powerful melee weapon that can dispatch enemy players in a single wave. With such a banner weapon, I would surely have a lot more luck in maxing out the “Close Quarters” commendation.

It would also add a new element of strategy to Capture the Flag games: You would have to figure out if the enemy were carrying your flag or if he were simply carrying a Loadout Flag!

I will look forward to seeing this option in the next title update!

We should spawn with the Oddball, too.

I stopped reading after you said you take out your batteries to camp

That is the silliest thing I read all day

Hazaah! We need to be able to sprint with the Flag as well! And the flagnum needs to be replaced with a rocket launcher!

Agreed.

But, if you start with the Flag you also get overshield and active camo. Since your range is shortened. This will create the most balanced and logical gameplay.

Ahahha! Best post of the week!

This could also be used as some sort of reference to the one hit kill knife in CoD, lol

Best thread ive ever seen.

… How do you not have a job with 343 yet? That’s an idea worthy of their team!

We also need to be able to throw it like a Javelin so we can impale players with it.

Recently I was thinking that the UNSC needs some kind of melee weapon however I was stumped as to what it could be since we already have the sword and the hammer.

Problem solved. Let’s do it.

personally i would like to see a Snag (sniper flag) as a load-out. It would allow the flag to manifest more of its awesomeness by allowing one-hit kills at a distance. What I would give to hear the cries of the hapless…“crap! I got snagged by the Snag”

LOL

They should make it so you can switch out the magnum for any other weapon.

They should turn the flags into stilts so you can get kills by simply walking over people. And don’t forget dual rocket launchers for the pesky people not wanting to get stepped on.

LOL! That’s gold right there!

His post reeks of sarcasm. He’s not serious.

Pffft once Grifball hits the playlists CQC will be mastered in no time.

Its not that hard… you should try using the PP and then melleing ppl also the flag idea would be really stupid like they should make the incinerator cannon a loadout weapon too

What do you even receive for a Master rank of Close Quarters?
