They’ve discontinued production on the Xbox 360, and I’m hearing some unfortunate rumors about them possibly taking the Xbox 360 servers offline as well (which would be a huge mistake, considering 360 has much better games than the Xbox One right now).
All things considered, now’s as good a time as any to make all the Reach DLC free. Microsoft can’t be making that much money on the DLC maps now; no one’s buying the maps, for goodness sake.
Better yet, they should make all the maps part of a free update to Reach- up the chances of finding a match on DLC maps, force everyone to download them through a regular game update like what they’re doing with Halo 5’s DLC, then let the voters decide when it comes to matchmaking.
While they’re at it, they should throw in the UA/Multi-Threat chest plate for everyone. Just a thought.
While they have stopped production of the system the servers won’t be going away for a while, not when they are still pushing update to the software and releasing new backwards compatible titles.
Maybe they can make the Halo 3 or Halo Wars DLC free first. After all, you can get the ODST 2nd disc for basically chips now, and every Platinum Hits copy of Wars gives you the first pack.
I wouldn’t think they’d touch Reach if they don’t touch any of the others. It’s buried and forgotten.

Won’t it? Why wouldn’t Microsoft allow it; they’re not making a profit by charging for the maps since no one is buying them. But, if they were to offer all the Reach DLC free, that might be a good way to sell more digital copies of Halo: Reach…

Totally agree. I was pretty upset when I bought the DLC only to find It was only available in a limited playlist anyway and no use for me. If it was free it could be pushed to more playlists and bring a little bit of life back into Reach.
I don’t think 343 is really concerned with bringing life back to Reach though. They’re decidedly not concerned with brining life back to the MCC, which is a way more recent project and would be more of a money maker than flipping a few copies of Reach on the cheap.
I like the idea. But please don’t treat it as realistic.
I would love it if they did that. I am getting tired of playing on forge maps and since they removed squad DLC other than anniversary I have been longing to play on maps that I purchased that are supposedly in rotation for matchmaking but I keep getting dumped with players who don’t hold the map packs… I spent money on this stuff in the past, I kind of want to enjoy it in the future if at all possible.
I think the reach dlc should be free as well. I never played reach before and now that I have it and it’s backwards compatible I’d like to try it and see if it’s really “better” than halo 5. And I don’t feel like buying these old map packs or waiting forever to get into a match(if I even can play multiplayer without the dlc) plus I can’t even try out reach`s firefight online without them. And I don’t want to play alone
I just can’t stand the fact that we paid good money for DLC and now we can’t even seem to get to know play them in matchmaking, much less get the chance to complete some of the most specific and rage-inducing achievements in a Halo game ever.
If they take down the servers, they take down all of Halo’s past with them.No more multiplayer would be a living nightmare.Durin,Your absolutely right about this.Xbox 360 has faster downloads and multiplayer connection but Xbox one has more space but slower download speed and outrageous storage download space for games.Halo on Xbox 360 was a big change for CE,but Halo 5,I have to say it was a downfall for playing Halo.
Halo Reach has been my Halo life.Colonel GD2 is my rank and all of us whom have Halo Reach will rebel.Dont get me wrong 343.You do it,and half of the Halo population will decrease like the Yellow Flu in a non quarantined New York.
