Its time for Team Objective to come back. I miss Oddball. I miss King of the Hill. I miss 1-Plot Extraction. We have what seems to be like a cool gametype in Ricochet on the way.
WE NEED TEAM OBJECTIVE BACK!
Not some weird 6v6 one with few gametypes either. I mean a real 5v5 one that has CTF, Oddball, KotH, 1-Plot Extraction, Team Regicide, and Ricochet when that launches all in one awesome objective filled playlist.
Do away with CTF as a standalone and give us Team Objective back 343i.
Yes!! As long as the ctf is only on smaller maps and not ragnarok. They should transfer meltdown ctf over to bt skirmish and then keep only the smaller maps. The biggest map in that playlist should be exile, and only for ctf and extraction, and maybe ricochet.
I would settle for 4v4, but I’m with you completely.
actually I’d even be happy if they added a few objectives to to the legendary playlist, along with magnum secondaries and the hinted BR/AR gametype.
I’d love a Team Objective playlist without oversized teams.
I don’t know why they kept CTF out of the Objective playlist as it was obviously an Objective gametype, and I don’t know who’s bright idea it was to NOT MERGE Big Team Infinity Slayer and Big Team Skirmish into Big Team Battle, like it was in the PAST, and leave Team Objective there.
So, I agree completely.
I too would like to see it return, but not with as many gametypes as you have listed. I’d like to see a playlist set-up like this…
Team Objective: A 5v5 Objective playlist that will also accept locking-in team sizes of 4v4. (tCSR)
Variants:
King of the Hill (KOTH)
Oddball
Ricochet/Assault - Ricochet: a faster paced and e-sport-ish version of Assault. Should receive it’s own playlist temporarily when it first becomes available, but then it should get consolidated into this playlist along w/ a variant of it that resembles more of a classic Assault gametype as an occasional offset option.
…though ideally it would mean the Big Team Skirmish playlist would be set-up like this…
Big Team Skirmish: A 8v8 Objective playlist that’ll also accept locking in team sizes of 7v7 or even 6v6. (tCSR)
Variants:
CTF - CTF = Multi-Flag.
Dominion/Lockdown
Extraction (2 sites)
…and a CTF as well as Team Throwdown playlist set-up like this…
CTF: A 5v5 CTF playlist that’ll also accept 4v4. (tCSR)
Variants:
CTF
Infinity CTF - Includes PODs whereas standard CTF doesn’t.
CTF Pro - Includes auto carry and Ally Only radar. This auto carry allows a player to automatically pick-up the flag and continue using their primary weapon, because the flag is simply attached to their back, but it still prevents them from being able to sprint with the flag.
Throwdown: A 4v4 playlist that’ll also accept 3v3. It combines Slayer and Objective games under settings geared toward the upper echelon of skillful team and individual play. Pre-determined loadouts, no ordinances, no radar, plus other specific gametype tweaks. (tCSR)
Variants:
Slayer v4
Extraction (1 site)
CTF - Includes a touch return and the auto carry feature for the flag.

The point of this is to not have CTF as a standalone playlist and put it into a Team Objective playlist like it always has been. We dont have the pop to have a CTF playlist and a half yoinked TO playlist, last time that didnt work at all. If its because of CTF’s popularity, I have a solution for that. All 343i would have to do in this new TO playlist is have it so CTF is always one of the three voting options.
Also why not put 1-Plot and Team Regicide in the playlist as well?

Not having CTF as a stand-alone playlist and reciting tradition as a reason why should not be the point of having a conversation about bringing back Team Objective.
The CTF playlist gets enough population by itself that it doesn’t need to be incorporated into another playlist and if you want to use the CTF population to falsely buff the population numbers for a Team Objective playlist with other gametypes you’re only causing frustration and annoyance for those who want to play only CTF or any one of the other gametypes that are included. It’s completely unnecessary to add that negative aspect.
The problem with your solution will be that any time the CTF game-mode is available for voting on there’s an extremely high chance it will get voted for which sort of screws the other gametypes if that is what a smaller percentage of the lobby wanted to play in particular. Also, if what the majority of the lobby wanted to play was the CTF gametype and it wasn’t even available to select because 343i had to find a way to curb how it dominated the voting process (probably thanks to endless complaints within the forum) then those who want to play it, and it only, will likely back-out causing another type of unnecessary annoyance and frustration for the player base through JIP (which isn’t fair to the JIP system).
First lets face the fact that a Team Objective playlist will probably never receive the same population numbers or even challenge the population numbers of the CTF playlist as well as other quite popular playlists, but that’s okay. The real point of having a Team Objective playlist has nothing to do with impressive population numbers; instead it’s about offering the player base an opportunity to play some of the obviously less popular gametypes and in a more ideal team setting, plus in a way where the players can approximately play which one they want to when they want to by limiting the game-mode offerings to 3, or 3-1/2, choices.
I think it’s important to limit the game-mode offerings to many of the core playlists to 3 main options in order to provide players an opportunity to always cast a vote for what they want to play under a particular playlist because I think it’s harmful to the playlist and Halo if players can’t at least cast a vote for what they came into a particular playlist to play. This is why you’ll see that for many of the core playlists under my War Games Playlist suggestion that I limit most to a game-mode/variant offering of 3, which coincides with the voting system Halo 4 uses.
IMO, the Extraction game-mode fits really well with the bigger teams and maps which is why I think it would be better served as a Big Team Skirmish gametype, but it doesn’t need to include a 1-site variant within that playlist. Extraction also fits extremely well as an upper echelon competitive gametype, but with the team sizes and maps in the Team Throwdown playlist the 1-site variant works best. Team Regicide is simply more of a Slayer gametype, which is why I include it in many of the Slayer playlists.

The other gametypes are getting boned harder right now than they would in a TO playlist where CTF is always one of the three voting options. Also one could theoretically argue that the pop of CTF is as high as it is right now because currently its the only objective in town. I’m just trying to reach a compromise that could work with what few people we have playing at any given time.
As for your points about Regicide and Extraction, I can understand not wanting TR in an Objective playlist, but then again all it is is a modified VIP and that gametype was in TO. I’m just concerned no one would want it in a Slayer playlist, I’m all for trying it though.
As for Extraction, I’m all for putting 2-Plot in BT Skirmish as it should have been there from the get go. 2-Plot works well with 8v8 in my opinion. I don’t want Throwdown to be the only place to go for 1-Plot though. That playlist is a turn off for lesser skilled players or for people without teams. It should be in a 4v4 or 5v5 TO playlist as well.
If 343 were to bring back 4v4 or 5v5 objective, they could kill two birds with one stone by merging skirmish and BTIS into BTB. That way, there would be the same amount of playlists but with more to offer in BTB and Obj. CTF is already doing pretty well, so it should be left alone. But a new obj. playlist would still have CTF, KOTH, oddball, and extraction.
Right now, I we have these playlists: IS, BTIS, BTS, CTF, GB, TTD, Regicide, Dominion, Flood, MT, LS, SWAT, AS, Snipers, TD, GC, and DLC. Only six of them have a population of over 1000, meaning long search times are rampant. So the least that can happen is making one 8v8 playlist and return Team Objective.
