Its time for living dead playlist to get a new gametype.

So Living Dead is currently the most populated playlist in Reach, but it has only two gametypes: the original infection of Reach and the Alpha Zombies. The playlist has gotten little boring for me because of it´s lack of variety, and we had a conversation with couple of my friends about it and we made up a new gametype idea for Living Dead. This gametype would include new loadouts for humans and a little of changing to the movement traits of zombies´ and their armor abilities. So let´s get going!

The loadouts:

Loadout #1: The loadout #1 would include the Assault Rifle with two and a half clips of ammunation and a Sniper with two clips.

Loadout #2: This loadout would be the traditional infection loadout: Shotgun with 18 shots and the pistol with (was it 4 or 5 clips?)

Loadout #3: This loadout would include a pistol with 30 shots, a plasmapistol with half of it´s battery and one frag greanade.

Loadout #4: The last loadout would include a pistol with the normal infection ammunation and a greanade launcher with two shots.

The new traits of zombies:

This one need a little briefing first. The zombies of this gametype would have three tiers. The three beginnnig zombies are tier 0 zombies.

They would have 250% movement speed, dropshield armorability with one use per life, 200% jumpheight with 150% gravity and a very sligth shield with a bleedtrought.

The humans infected by these tier 0 zombies would become tier 1 zombies. The tier 1 zombies would be equal to Alpha zombies but no unlimited sprint, instead they would have a twice stronger sprint than humans so the sprint would last twice the duration that the humans´ ones do.

And finally the humans infected by tier 1 zombies would become tier 2 zombies, who would have normal movement speed of humans, but still the normal jump hieght of a zombie with an evade that would recharge twice as fast as the normal evade.

And the final new stuff:

The last man standing would receive a normal evade armor ability with the overshield.

And now to the thing that would add some variables to the gameplay: Each map would have three intial spawn areas. These areas would act as the following: Intial zombie spawn, intial human spawn and none. The intial spawn of the zombies and humans would be randomly one of these on each round.

Phew! I´m done. Thanks to everyone that bothered to read this and post what you think about the gametype and what changes you might want to do to it. =)

I like all except the sniper rifle. You can get close enough with the DMR.

> I like all except the sniper rifle. You can get close enough with the DMR.

Whynot, but we thought with our friends that the DMR would be too easy to use at close range too and with 8 eight shots you wouldn´t even need to reload it even once. Of course you can use bodyshots with sniper and like that. Other option could be to use the focusrifle with decreased batterylife.

All of this stuff you are suggesting is impossible to do with Halo: Reach, it simply wasn’t designed to do this, even with Megalo.

Maybe, maybe not. The action sack has lots of gametypes which have some changes made in that we couldn´t make. Like the powerslayer when you receive a powerup after a kill. And in the BOOM! ball the greanade launchers seem to be weaker than usually. (Or atleast I think so because in any other playlist I can easily kill someone with the EMP shot of the greanade launcher but in BOOM! ball I have two use always two ore more shots…) And the Alpha zombies playlist already has two different types of zombies so why not a third one.

DMR can do all the sniper can do in infection.

But, basically you want to make the humans even MORE powerful than they already are.

NOPE

FAIL

You are misunderstanding what Megalo can do.

Megalo can allow them to add traits such as you suggested, but that’s it, they can swap models of Objectives and such and add Slayer as points in Objective.

Spawning with weapons with lets say a 50% full Plasma Pistol isn’t possible.

Lets just bring back some halo 3 gametypes for zombies.

I would love for a new Living Dead playlist that in some way incorporated the Assault Rifle for humans.

Living Dead needs new maps… maps that are made (on Forge World) for Infection purposes only. It also needs to go back to the Braaains! and Save One Bullet (or whatever it was called) gametypes. It’s nice having zombies with shields once in a while.

To those who are wanting some sort of update of Living Dead, there was a possible hint dropped in the Halo Bulletin last night.

Speaking of much of the studio being out on vacation right now, we were originally not planning on doing a Halo: Reach Matchmaking playlist update in January. One rather dedicated soul, though, decided that wasn’t acceptable. So, he’s come in day after day, determined to kick this one out. I won’t have the particulars for you until early next month, but I can confirm this: he’s starting to look like one of the reanimated corpses from Night of the Living Dead. Must be all the hours he’s pulling…

That was in the January MM Update sub-section.

Here is a link to the Bulletin.

I think that’s just because he was working long hrs and looked like a Zombie!

Still, possible hint.

I agree! I think a living dead update is ahead =)

Anyone else think that besides new game modes (and the removal of regular zombies) we need one major thing. More maps to play on, and community maps. Now I hate Forge World maps for most gametypes but for Infection it seems like a great idea.

Preferably removal of some maps that are really not good with Infection and add some Community maps designed.

I recall a few weeks back a Community Cartographer confirmed they have indeed got a selection of maps together for a Living Dead update together coming ‘very soon’.

January will give us it.

why not just add some community maps/ game types?
