Its time for FREE!

Remember how Halo 2 would release the DLC for free after a period of time. And incorporate all of the maps into the playlist. I think 343 should do this so the game can stay fresh. Right now you never really play any DLC content unless you play certain playlist. That still doesn’t guarantee Noble and Defiant maps. Halo 4 is right around the corner as well.

The DLC includes achievements and therefore cannot be released for free.

I’m still waiting for the Legendary, Mythic I & II for Halo 3 and both the DLCs from Halo Wars to become free.

Along with what redneck said, they have achievements tied to them, so they will never be free.

Well they could chop the price down to like 100 msp then?

And Rockstar released a free Dlc with achivments to Read Dead!

They should drop the price… Seeing as you cant even play on some of them anymore.

> Well they could chop the price down to like 100 msp then?

They could, but there are still hundreds of games out there with DLC that is still full price.

It isn’t gonna happen.

Well in the “other” games you can use the Dlc, in Reach it is barely usable.
Not a huge problem but the they can’t be selling good right now anyway…

Like how Bungie and Microsoft reduced the price of the Heroic map pack in Halo 3. I’d say go for it but unfortunately it’s all up to MS.

There would really be no down side to making the DLC free. No one is going to purchase it this close to Halo 4’s release. It would be a token guesture by 343 to let them know they care about their fans.

I really don’t buy the “it has achievements so it can’t be free” argument. That is some arbitrary rule with no logical basic and I’m sure a subsidiary of Microsoft could make DLC free if they so desired.

I am talking about Noble and Defiant, not Anniversary.

It isn’t an argument, it’s a fact. People use your Gamerscore as an example of how long you’ve been online or how much you play. You increase that with each game you purchase.

Yes, Microsoft can make them free if they wish, but Halo 3’s been out since 07 and none of those DLC’s have been free. What chances do you think Reach has?

It’s Microsoft’s company policy not to give that stuff out for free, so whether you see it as a logic argument or not makes no difference to Microsoft. They own the service, they make the rules. Ya either like it, or lump it.

In the future there should be a GOTY release of Halo which includes the original game and a code to download all the DLC for a reasonable price. If the DLC can’t be free then at least give all the newcomers from that point on access to every DLC out of the box to improve the population of the playlists.

Halo 3 was a successful game. Halo Reach turned many people off to the franchise. 343 is a new company that hasn’t earned the fans’ trust yet. Halo 4 is coming out soon. All these factors contribute to why I think that, even though Halo 3 didn’t do it and MS has a policy, the Noble and Defiant map packs should be made free. Give a little now and begin building a decade long relationship with the fans that will pay off in the long run.

Discount to like 100MSP a piece would be great, and help a lot with the DLC situation if they advertise it. IM pretty sure those map packs are well into the long tail now for sales anyway, so why not.

> Give a little now and begin building a decade long relationship with the fans

I haven’t seen anything that indicates 343 has any interest in building a relationship with the fans. Well, anything beyond a financial relationship, you know.

I’d rather 343 focus on THEIR game rather than cleaning up behind Bungie on Reach.

Remember that game called Halo 4 they’re making?

This does relate to their game though. Fans’ perception of a company will influence whether or not they want to support that company.

How long could it possibly take to make the map packs free? I see it as free PR.

I fed this through a MS super computer and this was the result= No money? Does not compute.

I would love that !!
Then i could play on the maps i have paid for BUT its not going to happen
