So I kinda have two things to talk about here. I hate to get back to the topic of Halo looking more like COD but the fact is it is. Now I said looking not feeling like COD I have zero doubt that Halo 4 will still feel like Halo. Now what I mean by looking is that there are a lot of big things and small things that just make it look like COD. I know Cod didn’t create all of these things but lets face it 343i never looked at counter strike for anything they just looked to the number one selling shooter Call of Duty. Anyway the big things are obviously perks, jump in/out playlists, spartan ops, custom load outs, friendly fire off, and sprint. Now I have kinda got use to most of the big things and it’s the small things that irritate me. Hitmarkers, grenade indicators are two I don’t mind. But the whole UNSC symbol spinning around just like it does in COD, (of course not UNSC) the way the teams show up before a match, the annoying labels that pop up for absolutely every single kill you get and now that u get a medal for everything u do. It’s these little things that make you just ask why? Why does Halo need this? Does everything in COD have to be in Halo. Now I know some of these may sound stupid but just think about it.
It’s the little things that make Halo great and different from every other game and I hate when the little things change to a rip off of another game especially a game I hate. Most people play Halo for its story and how it’s different from every other game and that’s how it should stay.

You have no evidence to support that…at all. The game looks a little different? Instantly they’re copying COD. That’s a really stupid way of thinking.
And these “little things” that you speak of actually look interesting to me. I’ve played almost every Call of Duty game and I see no similarities, but then again. I’m not picky.

Well u have to consider that everything I did name is from COD. All of these new things are from other games so theyre not new. If it was just one thing Halo took from COD it wouldn’t be a big deal but all of these things add up and just make you say Wow this is such a COD ripoff.
I know games like BF also have a lot of these things but they don’t have none of the small things other than hitmarkers and grenade indicators and that’s what makes we believe 343i is just ripping off COD and looking at no other games.
> You clearly haven’t played any CoD game from MW2 onwards then, because all the things the OP described literally feel like they’re straight out of those games.

Please don’t call them perks, they’re similar but way more balanced in Halo 4.
I also don’t like Join in progress, but you can’t say that’s from CoD, most games have it. We already know you can choose to not join a game in progress, but I hope there are settings that allow you to play a game in matchmaking which doesn’t support it either.
You’re heavily misinformed about Spartan Ops, it’s a whole new game mode I’ve never seen a game do before (Maybe there are, but I don’t know about them). A Spec Ops mission in CoD is just a part taken out of the Single Player with a little challenge to it. Spartan Ops is an own mode, it will be a series (like a Tv show) with a story and every mission will be different. If I say different I mean it will have new environments (you will sometimes revisit a place you’ve been to in the Campaign though) and a new objective every mission. It will also feature a lot of cinematics.
Custom Loadouts, again they’ve been in so many games but it will work different in Halo 4. You won’t be able to start of with a Sniper or a Rocket Launcer, you only get to choose between a few weapons wich are balanced among each other.
Friendly Fire was only off in those particular builds, it will be turned on in the final game.
Sprint, really? A supersoldier should not be allowed to run because humans in CoD can run as well? Logic ftw!

> So you’d say that ‘Dexterity’ is more balanced than ‘Sleight of Hand’? Or is ‘Explosives’ more balanced than ‘Flak Jacket’? Actually, ‘Flak Jacket’ is more balanced than ‘Explosives’. Or is ‘Mobility’ more balanced than ‘Marathon’? Oh wait, Mobility grants infinite sprint while Marathon extends for a short distance.

Agreed with your very last statement LeroyvL. It is starting to sound like the Apple lawsuit against Samsung.
Anyways saying they are taking ideas like sprint and no friendly fire from COD is craziness. Its a Halo game there will be friendly fire.
How about you actually wait until you have the game in your hand and see how it all functions instead of just assuming the worst and, for whatever reason, deciding that will be the result.
If it still feels like halo, I don’t see the problem in any of this. Cod is probably the most successful fps out there, yes the franchise has recently turned to garbage, but there was a reason for it’s success. Simply saying “it’s from cod! It doesn’t belong in halo.” is not a proper argument. We have no proper knowledge of whether or not including these things is a bad addition, only speculation. People need to understand that the gaming market is not the same today as it was when halo 2 came out, especially the fps market which is basically now a cod monopoly. If 343 were to make a halo 2.5, it would fail. Reach failed because of the features being poorly implemented. I think it’s a bit unfair to limit 343 because of bungie’s failure. We’re just gong to have to wait and see. Besides, theres always the classic playlist.

Exactly, most things you got in games like CoD don’t even make sense. How do you explain things like Grenade indicators and hitmarkers? Or how do you even explain a HUD? Is the HUD just printed in your eyeballs or something?
Ok, that was bit sarcastic, because it’s a game obviously. But for Spartans it does make sense, they have to know everything around them. It makes sense for them to have the technology in their suit to make waypoints, grenade indicators, etc…
And I’m still figuring out how people can even think the games are similar. Halo doesn’t look anything like other shooters, just because it can share a few of the same features doesn’t mean the gameplay is the same…
OP - Have you actually played Halo 4 yet to truly determine whether the additional elements added to the game make it feel like CoD? Or are you solely basing your opinion on what you perceive the game is going to be without any hard facts to substantiate your claim?
I get what the OP is saying. You don’t even see medals ingame anymore, only annoying white labels in the center of your screen that tell you EVERYTHING you just did, on top of the announcer saying EVERYTHING you do. Some things shouldn’t be changed imo.
There are over 121,000 search results for CoD on this forum, why don’t you go and discuss it there.
Perks were invented in Fallout
Custom Classes were invented in Team Fortress
Grenade indicators were in Wolfenstien MP
Sprinting was invented by Alogayooyoo in 10,000 BC although the caveman did try to go to court and copyright it, unfortunately there were no courts of law back then, i guess everybody copied him, If he was still alive he’d probably sue Usain Bolt.
