The simple solution would be to reuse the cr system from reach but use xp instead and double the xp needed for each Rank/level, its hard to argue against Halo infinite having a cosmetic only xp based progression system in Halo infinite simply for the interesting presentation of the time you have played but skill as well in.
would it not be interesting if Halo infinite had a secondary meta leveling system purely cosmetic but every time you lose a match you are deducted a small bit of xp from your rank? It would have no purpose other than showcasing how some players can keep their Rank/Level high even after consecutive losses due to how good the players own ability is, “you cant win them all but you can go down fighting”
I don’t get that oh wow a High Rank/Level feeling in Halo infinite from the opponents, I get that 343 is trying to use cosmetics with colors and armor to distinguish “skill” but honestly the way its going armor is just going to be cosmetic a majority of the time, AKA skins mean nothing if I can body you in the default outfit, however seeing a Rank/Level next to a player can extend a nice mental game halo infinite is missing.
There are going to be ranked playlists to progress your rank in. That’s really all you need, social ranks have never reflected anything except time spent playing the game.
We’re testing the technical aspects of the game, there will most likely be titles and ranking once the actual game comes out. Whatever you unlock now is also void for when the final comes out. Right now, enjoy beating people who are not as good as you or getting beat by people who are better than you.

343 has acknowledged this already and they are interested in adding such a feature post-launch

post launch list is growing quite long…wouldn’t you agree?..seems odd for a AAA title, some delays make sense but 343’s answer of wait and see is not good signs at all

Ranked while useful for ranked will not display during kosher matches the biggest loss is player individuality and it would appear many do not understand Rank, armor and colors alone do not achieve
fortnite and apex proved this, it don’t matter how pretty your visuals are if I can decimate you in the default outfit.

Kinda lame that they’re implementing this post-launch after hearing feedback from the July tech preview. Really, this never crossed anyone’s mind at 343 over the past six years of development? They couldn’t recover fast enough from July feedback to implement a social/XP rank system by December?
I agree. I think we need Halo Reach’s rank progression system to return. I’m not too big a fan of having to complete challenges. It makes me feel like I’m doing something else and not contributing as much to my team as I would like.
It just seems really backwards that they made the progress on MCC of giving that game a per match xp system and a global rank, where as Infinite is essentially just going back to what MCC used to be in that regard. Even xp to go towards the BP even if it was just a little bit would still make sense.

I understand the concern but considering the game’s live service nature, extra stuff being added after makes perfect sense. I’d rather wait for certain features than wait for the whole game but i’m sure others feel opposite.

As long as we’re having fun, getting beat is the least of our worries.

Why would I want another rank to grind or something else for players to rub in my face that they are better than me. Keep that sort of thing in the ranked playlist. I don’t want that kind of thing in social, I want a relaxing environment where I can just play for fun and not have to worry when my matchmaking list pulls up my enemy team of full stacked inheritors that are going to body me. Or even worse a inheritors with a sock account trolling on average players. The ranked lobby is where you can see everyone’s ranks and be competitive. Leave that competitiveness at the door in social. Not having ranks or per match XP in social just rewards casual play and forces competitive people to either not play social or to not care about winning as much if there are no stakes.
I have a feeling the more post I see like this or BR starts post are just from people that are hyper competitive but don’t want to sweat in ranked and just want to destroy newbs in social lobbies.

its a social ranked player level number with no effect on matchmaking other than showcasing how long a player has played… if you care that much about someone gloating about your lesser stats then your not a real halo fan because the social ranking as in player level has been in since halo 2 what’s your problem?
It really is strange they didn’t think to implement one for Infinite, especially with the whole “Spartans Journey” theme they’re going with in this title. Although it could be intentional and the first season or couple seasons could be training stuff. Cause even the base coatings go by “cadet” or “recruit”, so maybe our Spartans will start to earn higher ranks as the seasons go on. This is a 10 year plan after all and they probably want to stretch out the ranking system to fit that. Just speculation though.
