Yep, I was forced to boost the last couple of achievements, mainly the three Defiant achievements that was needed to achieve on any specific Defiant map. It’s sad to be honest, I’ve tried and tried to get these maps, but to no avail, because one, cheapskates can’t fork out 10 quid for two map packs and two, this algorithm is a load of bulls**t if I can’t match up against other DLC owners.

I was never the one for boosting, but since I had no choice, I had to go along with it and obtain these last couple of achievements because let’s get real, Squad DLC is a joke. DLC owners are being ripped off. Hell, even Epic does a better job handling their DLC. It’s so pathetic that I wasted a good 1600 Microsoft points on something I hardly use, and it beats the default maps by far. They should have made some playlists DLC required, I don’t care what the others say about this, they aren’t the ones who’s being ripped off here, if you ask me, they shouldn’t be so cheap in the first place. It’s bloody 10 quid for the love of God. If you can’t afford that s**t, then how the hell did you manage to pay for your Xbox, your internet, your TV, etc?

It’s no surprise that I wasn’t cR banned, looks like I got away with it, for now… I’ve unlocked all of the Reach achievements on my other account, not this one.

343, if you going to do Halo 4 DLC, don’t f**k us over, people pay good money for this crap and they shouldn’t pay the price.

Agreed, the DLC approach to Reach was a travesty. If people are not required in a few or more core playlists, they will not buy the DLC because they can save money and still play the game without the extra maps. The Squad DLC is evident of this with low populations though Anniversary seems to be the only sure fire way to play those maps.

It sucks you were pushed to do this. I was tempted to boost with friends as well since Reach matches up players randomly.

If Halo 4 goes down this route for DLC, I’ll put my money towards something that won’t just sit on my HD and fill Microsofts coffers.

I had to do the same to get these achievements. I just got so fed up with playing in playlists that I dident like. I hate infection, and I played so much infection just to try and get a map I could get this achievement on. And then when it did come up I spawned as a zombie in every round.

The dlc maps are in my opinion some of the best maps in reach. But they never come up in the playlists I play in.

I wasn’t a fan of the season pass that gears 3 did first, but I have to say it worked. The new maps are always up on gears. I hope halo 4 dose a season pass. I for one would pay for it.

I feel like doing this myself to be honest. While I don’t think it’s the best way to get these, but with how rare it is you’ll get the right map with the right game type is, I feel like it’s necessary to do this.

I don’t mind giving you a hand in getting these achievements if you like. My brother still needs them so if you do get enough people together let me know.

> cheapskates can’t fork out 10 quid for two map packs

I’m not a cheapskate for not buying the DLC for Reach. I’m just not stupid enough too. I brought all the Halo 3 DLC.

> two, this algorithm is a load of bulls**t if I can’t match up against other DLC owners.

The “algorithm” is fine. You aren’t getting paired up with other DLC owners because there isn’t any.

> Even Epic does a better job handling their DLC.

I haven’t had a single problem with the Gears of War DLC.

> They shouldn’t be so cheap in the first place. It’s bloody 10 quid for the love of God. If you can’t afford that s**t, then how the hell did you manage to pay for your Xbox, your internet, your TV, etc?

You said it yourself. I’m not buying s**t.

What would being cR banned do? cR means absolutely nothing.

Just to say, you won’t be cR banned if every player was a geniune player, not an AFK controller.

If everyone said “I’m not buying the dlc because no one has them”, the no one would buy them, so you’re part of the problem.

I’m down to boost for these achievements even though I don’t want too. OP is right, they should have made more playlist DLC Required.

Honestly, I wouldn’t mind the DLC-free playlists as long as they gave us more than Squad DLC to work with here. Make DLC BTB, or DLC FFA. I mean, if you did it with Anniversary, what’s preventing you from doing it with Noble or Defiant, 343i?

Either you screw people who paid for the game, or you screw people who paid for DLC. Which is it?

The H3 system leaned towards screwing people who paid for the game, and reach brought that balance back to the middle somewhat. Where it got frustrating is when not enough people bought the DLC for it to come up often, or in my experience, when it does come up people still downvote it for uncaged DMRs instead

Perhaps H4 can keep teh reach system but rely on higher DLC sales and specifically matching up DLC owners, though i dont know if reach already does this?

Of course the REAL solution is to banish the scourge of multiplayer achievements all together, which do nothing but frustrate players and lock in the developers from making playlist changes that they might want to. I very strongly believe that cheevs should be doable without relying on anyone else at all ever like in COD4.

> If everyone said “I’m not buying the dlc because no one has them”, the no one would buy them, so you’re part of the problem.

I never said that. I said.

> I’m not a cheapskate for not buying the DLC for Reach. I’m just not stupid enough too. I brought all the Halo 3 DLC.

Besides, I’m not part of the problem. I’m part of the solution.

I believe that all Gamerscore should be removed. It means nothing, and this is coming from somebody with 50K Gamerscore.

> […] I’ve tried and tried to get these maps, but to no avail, because one, cheapskates can’t fork out 10 quid for two map packs […]

Wow. Really? I don’t want to buy the Noble Map Pack because I think for what you get and the money it costs, not to mention that Halo 4 is coming in the later half of this year. So saying that people are cheapskates for not buying a piece of DLC is ridiculous, arrogant and pathetic. I’ll buy whatever I damn well please.

I didn’t bother to read ALL of the posts, but nobody should be forced or coerced to buy DLC maps in order to continue to play a game they’ve already payed for. But, it is a common complaint. It definitely would be nice for those players that do buy them to have a filter available to maximize the use of their purchase. I think that would let people know that you’ll actually USE this if you BUY it. Matchmaking may be slower at first, but hey, at least it would be a choice.

I had to boost the You Ate All The Chips achievement because Stockpile would not for the life of me come up. Keep in mind this was when it was only in BTB and SWAT. While I’m not ashamed for boosting it, I would have rather got the achievement legit.

I’m not even gonna bother with the new achievements. If I get them, I get them.

Don’t worry, I had to as well. Got the very last one I needed legitimately, though! (Can’t remember the name of it, but I had to splatter 5 people on an Anniversary map)

I do agree that it is ridiculous how difficult it is to unlock the achievements without boosting for them.

Looks like im going to have to do the same and boost them :frowning:

I hate paying for maps and never getting to play them " Look more GRAY forge world maps "

Tell me about it, more days have been spent on Forge World than the default/DLC maps in Reach.

Outside of Anniversary and FF, rarely will you be paired up with those with DLC. Funny how you don’t hear about the sales figures for Reach’s DLCs.

Though tonight i did have the honor of running into two players and a bunch of afk accounts padding stats in Squad DLC. I did go pretty positive since the other two players were amazingly terrible and easily outslayed them. I lost only because of the afks, which fed easy kills to the other two players.

None of them got perfections because of me :P. It was like playing with one of Reach’s infamous slumber parties on steroids.

Can’t even have a decent experience in the DLC exclusive playlist now. What’s a Spartan gotta do around here?
