Its pretty sad you need a number to be mature

Like for real. If the only thing that makes you play properly try to always win and not betray your team/ commit suicide constantly is a number next to your name, you really shouldnt play an M rated game, because you clearly aren’t mature. Just because the outcome of a game has no effect on anything, that’s an excuse not to try or to ruin other peoples fun, but when a number is involved, well now its serious business. I gotta protect my precious number. If you take it away, im gonna kill everyone for the sniper instead.

Being mature also means putting up with people who have different opinions. Taking away something that’s important to someone else simply because you can’t deal with it isn’t too mature either.

Like its not 2004 anymore, the Halo community should be mostly adults by now.I really just dont understand how theres at least one person in every game who doesn’t play right. IDC what kind of system they want, I just want to tone down on the -Yoink!-that i get matched up with.

You misread. I could care less about what kind of ranking system they have. My quipe is with the community, and the fact that they don’t play correctly if there is no rank. Its honestly saddening in terms of hopes for humanity.

I didnt know people werent being born after 2004…

> I didnt know people werent being born after 2004…

And if your 8 years old you shouldnt be playing a game that says 17 and up on it.

Master Chief was still my childhood hero and no one can change that!

What if I just like the number? I hope this doesn’t apply to all people who want visible ranks in the playlist. I don’t play like an idiot.

Im just concerned this game is gonna be ruined not by the developers but by the players. So many morons play it that aside from turning off friendly fire and turning off negative point for suicide, there is no way to make people play right. And even then, im sure people would still figure out ways to ruin it for others.

This applies to anyone who tries harder, or simply just plays correctly, only to increase his rank.

You’ve completely missed the point people have been trying to get across.

People aren’t going to grief and team kill without a ranking system. Not sure where you got that idea from. They just wouldn’t play Halo anymore. Which, being long time fans would be extremely disappointing.

If you don’t understand why people wanted visible ranks from all the available threads, it’s most likely you never will.

Luckily, 343 have listened and now I can return to enjoying my favourite franchise I the way I ENJOY.

Edit: OP. People griefed in Halo Reach because there were no penalties. It was never for no reason. If they were AFK it was because Reach’s cR system was broken. If they betrayed you it was most likely due to a power weapon. Or you’re looking for the team (ranking issue)

In Halo 3 all the griefing happened basically due to easily manipulated Trueskill mechanics. Which, should be fixed in Halo 4. So that should not be an issue in the future.

Define “play correctly”

Personally, I think you’re just trolling because your arguments are embarrassing. There are many reasons to have a visible ranking system and just because there isn’t one certainly doesn’t mean I’m going to go into the game and betray my teammates. Most likely I won’t be on the game as much in general because of it. The kids that go into a game and betray you probably aren’t the competitive ones since they actually want to win.

I digress.

Well, I play Halo and I’m 15, and I am pretty mature when it comes to video games. Not Everyone who plays Halo and is under 17 is immature. I personally don’t care too much what happens to the new ranking system, as long as it is a good, competitive tool used to track other players skill in the game. 343 knows it will not work for everyone, and I have accepted that. I’m not saying everyone does, but they should at least look at how much this company has put into making this game, and feel the weight on their shoulders on how to go about a new, different ranking system.

Yeah but they are. Theres a reason why the problem is so much bigger in Reach then in 3/2. Its because theres really no consequence to losing. Thats why in Halo 2 and 3, the main problem was de-rankers, but in Reach you seldom see people committing suicide over and over, because what does that really accomplish now. Instead, its just idiots killing each other over weapons or for whatever reason, because they dont care about losing.

The new wave of complaints are about to start from the we want it in game to this still won’t work. :=|

Play Correctly: Try to win the game, don’t attack your teammates, don’t commit suicide. Not synomous with being a good player, you can suck without intentionally doing things that cost your team the game, likewise, you can be really good at Halo and just be in a bad mood and ruin it for others by not playing correctly.

You wont play as often because of lack of visible rank? Well that just makes you a nerd. Have a good day.

Yeah I mean I expect 343i to do a really good job making a game and maintaining a game that would be perfect if people weren’t -Yoinks!-. Like I said, Idc about rank at all. I maintain that friendly fire being turned off would solve a lot of my problems. So what if my teammate doesn’t die when I throw a grenade at him in the middle of him fighting the enemy. Really SO WHAT?

Quite the opposite, I won’t play as often because I’m a full time student with a job that doesn’t have time to grind out hours upon hours in a progressive system. Ranks simplify what I play when I get on the game. But since your an ignorant fool go on believing what you will.

And there will always be people who do not play “correctly” in any game whether or not there is a ranking system or not.

If they are to include a 1-50 ranking system then they should really find a way to weed out boosters. It should take some work but I have an idea. Study the boosters, derankers, and overall people abusing the system. Use some maths. If said player ranks up in [blank] games, but has [blank] many deaths, then the player gets instabanned unless a group of detectives can prove the case says otherwise.

Double accounters may be a bit trickier since you can have two skilled people constantly playing on a friends xbox or their own. It would take careful monitoring of people playing from one IP address. So banning perceived cheaters possibly using the account could be jumping the gun, and they could be banning someone and their brother on accident. Of course, double accounters aren’t too big a problem. They blast through the ranks quickly with their months of attained skill, and then they quit after getting a 50 and move to a different playlist usually. A good waste of $120 dollars for xbox live; not.

I concur deeply.
