…don’t understand how headshots work in Halo. I come on to these forums and in almost every weapon discussion, I notice way too many people who still have no grasp on how the headshot mechanic has worked in this series for more than a decade.
Headshots DO NOT deal extra damage if the player is shielded. If their shields are up, you can totally just aim at the body.
(I mean, it makes sense, yeah? Why would the energy shield be weaker around the head?)
The only exceptions:
- The Sniper Rifle and Beam Rifle have enough power to simultaneously break shields and deal damage to the head in a single shot. - In order to kill a player with only 4 bursts of the BR, the fourth burst should be on their head even though they are shielded, because the first two shots in that burst will pop their shields and the third will score the headshot. (So technically, it’s not an exception, but I don’t want people to get confused with all the 5-burst kills they’re getting because I told them to aim at the body until the shields pop)
