It's official. Halo fans are afraid of change!

I’m so sick and tired of seeing halo fans -Yoink- and complain about how the new game isn’t “halo” enough for them because of all the new features. The reason why I’m so sick of it is because I don’t understand their point of view, it still feels fun to me, it still feels like a fair and balanced game, and most importantly, it still feels like halo to me too.

Now before you purists tell me that I’m a “noob” that is new to the series, I would like to let you know that I started playing halo around the time halo 2 came out, and have played every halo game since then. I loved the older games and their feel, but I also realize that a series must change if it hopes to survive. You halo purists want halo to stay the same forever and never change, wanna know why? Because you were pros and killed everybody in the old halos, it didn’t matter if you used exploits or used glitches, what mattered was that you were pros, and now that they are changing various apsects of the game, you’re no longer “pros”.

Halo can’t be the same game forever, it needs to change. If 343 rehashed the same old -Yoink- with each halo game, it would get boring and dull, and then the fans would be complaining about the same thing fans are comparing that the COD series is doing. Can you guess what that is? Not changing the game enough and releasing the same rehashed -Yoink-.

But wait there’s more! If you guys aren’t complaining about the game changing, then you’re complaining about how halo is copying off of other games. I always hear fans saying “oh halo is just cod now” or “halo 5 is just titan fall mixed with cod” and it pisses me off, because nothing could be further from the thruth! Halo 4 had many things that were COD-like; weapon drops, load outs, perks, etc. and you guys hated that. I agree that halo 4 did stray away from the halo series and that it didn’t feel like halo, but guess what? 343I has heard the backlash that halo 4 got and have reversed a lot of stuff in halo 5! Now, there are no load outs, perks, or kill streaks!

They have changed it back to what halo always was, arena multiplayer with fair starts. But they realized that they needed to still change the game to keep it interesting, which is exactly what they did with new abilities! But nope, you guys still want halo to stay the same, you guys still want the BR to remain the only useful weapon, you guys still want there to be no new abilities, you guys still want nothing new. You guys say that we are the ones killing the series, when in reality it is you “purists” killing it.

I honestly love how Halo 5 is turning out, I think the game’s going to look promising.
and to be fair, I’ve never had problems on Halo in general.

But actually, I had a joke in mind.
I’m not trying to be offensive, but if you think about it, you know the Team Fortress 2 Spy, on how he’s able to disguise into his enemies? What if the Halo fans that are saying that Halo is turning to COD, are really the COD players under disguise as Halo fans? If you played Team Fortress, you got to admit that’s a pretty clever joke of mine.

But anyways, I do wonder.
Do you think Halo 5’s going to be shown with Mixed or Positive reviews? I hope it’s positive like with the previous games.

Every community reacts poorly to change, whether it be on the internet or real life. Usually it is people that feel they have an undeserved entitlement over whatever subject, and that their view matters more than anyone else.

Aluminarty confirmed

You hit it spot on. The community is turning into a toxic gathering of d-bags. Halo 5 is excellent, and I think it will be well received by the population at large. I also don’t think it is going to have the say power of Halo 2 or Halo 3, simply because that’s the world we live in now. Too many competent AAA are on the market that can compete with the likes of Halo. The Wii and the COD franchise has proven that people like to play easy games catered to casuals. 343 would be wise to create new games on a yearly basis, even if they aren’t part of the core storyline in order to keep this franchise relevant.

OP, not all fans are afraid of change in general. There are gamers who are afraid of bad changes that will negatively affect already established mechanics. Stop generalising who’s afraid of what and why/for what reason.

EDIT: Minor spelling errors rectified.

Then there’s no reason to hate Halo 5’s new mechanics.

Look at my stats ROFL. I think I ended my Halo 3 career with exactly a 1.0 K/D and a highest rank of 22.

No, this is not even remotely it. I’ve never been a Pro at Halo. My Halo 4 and Halo Reach stats are much higher than my Halo 3 ones.

> Now, there are no load outs, perks, or kill streaks!

No but now we have ADS, clamber, still have sprint, and automatics that kill fast from a long distance. Sorry that my opinion pisses you off but telling me it pisses you off isn’t going to change it. Nor am I going to stop having an opinion just because it doesn’t coincide with your own.

> They have changed it back to what halo always was, arena multiplayer with fair starts

Quake also has identical starts, is Quake even remotely similar to Halo? There’s so much more to the gameplay than just identical starts.

We won’t know that until Halo 5 is a success or flops, will we?

Thank you OP! First person to really show my views. I seriously believe that if we had the same thing every year, people would -Yoink- about that as well. I’ve been a part of Halo since the first day Halo 2 came out, my first Xbox Live game, and everything. Coming from then to now, I personally enjoy the changes and it gives me a lot more to learn. That’s what I’m in it for and I applaud 343 for attempting something much different from it’s past, yet still keeping that Halo feel to it. The other thing about games “not being original”, it’s honestly incredibly difficult to do something that is original, especially with what we have in all of our games today. It’s near impossible. Awesome post op!

Most of those people have trouble reading. The game is called Halo 5: Guardians, not COD.

Child, don’t change his words because he gave a logical response. He never says he hates them, he says they may negativley effect existing ones.

It’s been this way since Halo 2.

Yeah, and your point? You can call anything a Halo game. That might officially make it a Halo game, but that doesn’t mean the fans are going to acknowledge it as one.

Child?

First of all, I didn’t change his words; he must have edited them after I quoted him. Second, that doesn’t make what I said wrong. Halo 5’s new mechanics don’t diminish the Halo feel.

Explain. There’s plenty of reasons to dislike Halo 5’s new mechanics. Reasons that have already been made and have been proven to be sound reasons.

And yes, I did change my post - but only slightly so as to clarify that I wasn’t speaking for others.

Sorry, edited my response to this, what I meant was they do not necessarily hate the changes, they could negatively impact current mechanics in the game. I also meant you put words in his mouth by saying there is no reason to hate the changes, not that he changed his response.

Child was a little overboard.

I’ve played since H2’s launch and I love this game!

It’s the internet, you’ll always find your sour apples.

Don’t change a thing 343. Magnificent beta.

i loved the changes in halo5, can’t wait to try the campaign and the full multiplayer

It’s all good. Here’s a smiley face

Are there any specific mechanics you had in mind? In my experience, Guardians is still very much a Halo game.

One small request-

How about a ‘ready’ toggle you can use in the intermission. If all players hit it, it skips the minute delay.
