With 343 changing the Waypoint its a chance for us to get 343 to actually see the important topics as long as people that post aren’t posting wish lists and keep these threads realistic. At this late in the game the only thing the could change and update are things like the radar settings like the difference from flight 1 and flight 2. Game options for CTF, Oddball, Etc. Which games have grenade hitmarkers. In the extreme maybe adding fall damage. Not much else at this point.
I know I’d love to see playable Elites w/ Invasion or the flood return. However that’s more a DLC down the road maybe a year out. I hope Firefight would be the first thing added after Co-op and Forge, but who knows.
I like the wishlists too, but now is the time to use the forum for 343 to hear us on things they can change in the short term, please use it wisely.
There is tons to discuss.
Friendly fire.
Player collision.
Blast Radius’s.
Stealth options.
Radar.
Hud.
Weapons and Vehicle spawns.
Hitmarkers.
Weapon balancing.
Etc.
That among other things. Such as balancing all the tools players have now to hunt down stealth players. In CE there was just walk and crouch for movement options and radar balancing. Now there’s more movement Slide, Clamber, Sprint, Equipment, etc. However the radar is the same but people can zoom across maps in seconds now. Threat sensor, nade hit markers, scoped weapon glint on commando’s and BR’s and the beacon on the sniper rifle. Lots of things that have been added and not balanced that destroys stealth players play styles.
Yo I am also completely annoyed of wishlists. Like the game is coming out in a month and people still making the same wishlist thread that each literally all have the same things.
Friendly Fire: I think it should be on because it ruins immersion and encourages players to shoot explosives near their teammates to get the kill however keep the kick system for too many teamkills.
Player collision: It should be in once again for ruining immersion and can be exploited by having players run through their teammates potentially saving them and killing the enemy player.
Blast Radius: I think its too big for grenades and too small for weapons like the rocket launcher or fusion coils.
Stealth Options: As long as the radar pings the enemy for standing still for too long, I wont care.
Radar: In my opinion its too large but it doesn’t actually bother me too much.
HUD: Needs to show what grenades you have without pressing a button to see but its ok
Weapon and Vehicle spawns: Weapon spawns i think are pretty balanced but vehicle spawns at least in BTB need to get reworked. Everyone should get the same vehicles at the same time.
Hitmarkers: Never an issue for me but I’m glad they are turned off in ranked.
Weapon Balncing: AR is viable now which i enjoy buy other weapons like the plasma pistol and sniper need a buff. For the plasma pistol it needs to emp vehicles again, have greater tracking, and destroy shields faster. It should not break shields slower then the sidearm, end of story. for the sniper i just want the bloom gone when unzoomed and the ricochet back. It really should hit where your aiming since its more difficult to aim with now.
Do you all agree? I personally am super hyped for this game and cant wait for it to be released!
No friendly fire or player collision along with other things are what 343 and the larger gaming industry are using to make the game more “accessible”. However after 20 years of gaming I don’t think most gamers need this kind of thing to make it accessible.
I think its an excuse to claim accessability, but it really is them adding a feature that makes me think that the industry thinks we’re all stupid and can’t walk around teammates or not shoot them all the time. Most players are not 4 year old’s.
They even removed fall damage because they think we can’t understand falling should hurt. That’s risk and reward gaming. Its a Risk to shoot near teammates, its a Risk to jump off a 3 story building to give chase.
Its like they added rubber corners on everything in the game because we are all children that need hand holding.
i don’t know man i think fall damage kinda goes against the whole spartan thing, although i really think player collision should be there along with friendly fire.
However do you think player collision is relatively easy to just switch on and off for 343 or will it require a load of tinkering?
I agree with this statement wholeheartedly except for one thing, fall damage. I hate seeing fall damage in halo. In some games it is acceptable, like CE for being the first halo, or odst as you are not a spartan, but in reach and 4 it just grosses me out seeing someone in mjolnir get hurt from a jump. And it ruins things like skates for speedrunning/multiplayer.
Mostly I mean direct impacts to the ground. If you drop slide that’s a skill and should be rewarded.
However if you repulsor jump and miss your ledge and didn’t get the safety backup clamber there should be a downside to the failed “risky” movement.
Otherwise its not a risky movement, unless you count the enemies can see you screw up and shoot you, but they can see you walking on the ground too. So why even have verticality on maps? If a player on a ledge and a player on the ground are shooting at each other whats the difference if they fight on even footing? Only that they can’t melee?
So verticallity is only on maps to prevent melee? Seems kind of pointless. Maybe its for accessibility or visual appeal.
Sorry I’m not normally this salty. But for speed runs why not add a no fall damage skull in campaign?
I could see that but still, then you have moments like halo reach where noble six falls from space or halo 3/4 where master chief also falls from space lol. A minor fall from a ledge should not do damage imo. I’m normally a purist when it comes to these sort of things but like I said, for some reason it urks me to see a super soldier in mjolnir get hurt from a fall.
30 days before the Game is set to launch, it is far far too late for them to be making any changes small or otherwise to the game…
The fact the game hasn’t gone gold for certification yet alone is concerning enough.
They’ve got less than 30 days to complete the build, mass produce discs and ship them all over the world to retailers for a dec 8th launch
What ever the game is going to be, it already is as we speak
In Reach Noble Six had a reentry pack. We also don’t know if his armor was locked up like chief’s was in H3. But chief did have a med team unlock him. For all we know he might have been held together by built in bio foam for the whole first missions.
Either way they both had recovery time after their falls.
The fall damage is more a shield impact mechanic anyway. For gameplay it doesn’t need 100% lore accuracy.
However if the 500 lb spartan with shield falls from a banshee 100 ft in the sky reaching terminal velocity, and falls straight down and lands on the ground shielded feet first shouldn’t the shield take some impact?
An option to use RvB (user selected friendly color vs. user selected enemy color) would be nice. I couldn’t stand the outlines, and the little red diamonds that appeared over enemy’s heads always made aiming much more difficult than it had to be for me. I’d also really like to see the return of the crosshair dot that only appeared when over an enemy’s head.
What about chief in halo 4 when he literally fell from space? Or when noble six and emile jumped from a moving pelican? Again, I’d rather they forgo the inconsistency of spartan fall damage and remove it outright.
Fall damage in infinite is more a gameplay over lore thing, better for balance. IT is also likely there to prevent people from doing things that are two crazy.
the thing is in the campaign trailer chief takes a fall that would kill an MP spartan. though that can easily be explained as a 2 vs a 4.
