Its not looking good.

Day 1 preorders for Black ops 2 are 30% higher than that of Modern warfare 3.

Im not tryng to flame or troll but this is just my reasoning.

Everyone knows that CoD is always going to be a pretty good game(to say that it is not is just to be in denile). However this does not mean that Halo 4 will not be better.

The main thing that is going to decide the sucsess of the games is the preorders. most people will probably get 1 of them (due to the very close release of the two games) and will most likely stick to that game.

Basically what im trying to say is that 343 need to show people that Halo 4 is going to be amazing and not just another one of these games that look at the sucsess of CoD and head in the same direction as CoD(because at the end of the day why get a game that is like CoD when you can get CoD?)

Its all about the nich that the game fills, If Halo 4 is going to try and be a mass consumer product that keeps everyone happy then IT WILL FAIL because there is already a game that does this better than any other CoD.

Halo 4 needs to be focused on what Halo was about(at least 1,2,and 3) AIMING,SHOOTING,MOVEMENT and GRENADES. Sure I understand that additions need to be made like A-Abilities because it needs to feel like an up to date game and also needs to have additions to the prior game, but these additions need to carefully considered.

So what niche should Halo aim for?
Well I know that not everyone is going to like this but Halo 4 should be based on skill and teamwork(completely different to CoD). Im not saying that every game of Halo needs to be taken seriously because at the end of the day its all about having fun and I loved my social and custom games on H3 as much as the next person. But what I am saying is that Halo 4 should be like H1+H2 when it comes to the core gameplay. 343 needt to remember that competative games can be played casually but casual games can’t be played competatively. (Look at games like Starcraft, an unbelievable amount of users/players, both competative and casual all playing and having fun on the same game). Look at Halo 2/3 the same applies(both competative and casual all playing and having fun on the same game).

Well I guess that I should thank you for reading this wall of text and I hope that I have at least got you to think about this aspect of Halo 4. Please leave comments and your opinions on this matter and as always, have a nice day.

I couldn’t give a s***, and you shouldn’t either. Why do you care? There will be enough people on Halo 4 to keep playing online. Why does it need more then CoD? Spite? Please…

I get to have twice the fun then all of you because I get to enjoy two games this November.

Meh. I hate CoD and i love Halo…

So either way it don’t matter for me.

Nice to see someone who enjoys both. But I’m not buying it.

It’s because of Treyarch, they are too ignorant and stubborn for their own good.

Maybe you can tell me what it’s like when it comes out. I’ll see if they have actually changed the gameplay.

The reason I don’t like CoD apart from Treyarch is because of the CoD community. You obviously are a nice person but I’m talking about all those people who just take CoD WAY too seriously. Thinking it’s the best thing since sliced bread. And all the people who say Halo is for -Yoink!-s and is unrealistic. Can’t we just get along? We are all gamers alike and we should learn to like eatch-other.

It is because of these factors that I don’t care for CoD anymore. I used to enjoy it but ever since WaW…

…Have fun with BO2 when it comes out by the way.

Black Ops 2 will outsell Halo 4’s first month on it’s first day.

Black Ops, aside from Kinetic games, it the best selling 360 game.

BO2 will only surpass that.

I work at a certain well known game store, and the reason COD has a lot more Pre-orders is, well bribery. You go in Pre-order Halo 4 your get your Halo 4 Pre-order.

You go into pre-order black ops, your get a poster, you get a prestige token, you get a code that allowed you to get more pre-order bonuses for sighing up early.

Also we are being told to get X number of pre-orders per week for COD BLACK OPS II. I’m not sure what happens if we don’t but I’m guessing we get less hours as a store, so its something we are pushing.

MS’s E3 event was actually said to focus around Halo 4. That would bump the preorders a bit. And if they reveal the limited editions they should get the whole core community to have preordered (343i, take the hint) and of course the Live Action series will do an awesome job at that, too…

I get what you mean about people taking it too seriously.

I have a friend who likes COD< and he’s like my best mate. Like mah bro. But one time his friend came over when I was at his, and he was the biggest nob ever. Eventually we (literally) threw him out.

We found out he has an air rifle and he tries to 360 no-scope with it…

-_-

As a Halo fan, make people buy Halo 4 please. Everyone can make a difference for a cause they believe in. Also, it’s sad to hear that stores function that way, and it’s even sadder to hear that people follow these things like sheep…

What does he care? It’s his JOB. You’re acting like he’s a -Yoink!- or something.

I’ve never heard of videogame preorder favoritism, and it’s interesting to hear that it works that way.

That would get super-annoying though, having a clerk suggest preordering CoD over and over.

I use to hate it when I walked into a gamestore and they told me what I wanted. I try my hardest to not be “that guy.” I’m not about to tell you what ‘you’ like. If I’m asked what I like or for my suggestion then I’ll let you know, but I’m not going to force my hate of COD onto you because I want Halo to do better, just because they buy it doesn’t mean they will like it, or play it, and no one walks away happy from that.

Try being the clerk -_-;

I swear when you ask " and is there anything you’d like to pre-order, like the new CoD Black OPs" OVER AND OVER again for hours on end. My god its enough to drive you crazy, then of course no one understands how the pre-order stuff works, so then you’re forced to, in the smallest words possible walk then through something you have never done yourself, because it JUST started. BLA sometime I REALLY hate my job, but a jobs a job.

You might find this frightening, but I’m a good shot with an Air Rifle and I don’t even own one!

Nice, but can you 360 no-scope and mistakenly shoot your window and break it like James?

I wouldn’t even try, you would be oblivious to do so.

Yeah, I was kidding.

OT: It’s even worse that people fall for it.

If the amount of people that buy a game defines if it’s good, sure it’s a good game. Other than that, nope.

I agree with what OP is trying to say.

I agree with your statement if not more. I’ve never understood why people view games, even consoles as if they were some kind of -Yoink!- country. I’m pretty intense about how I feel about games as whole, since it is a career choice I’m pursuing, however first and foremost I know that these are products for entertainment. People enjoy playing CoD, as much of a casual, stupid easy FPS it is, people have fun. I know that’s why I started playing Halo.

Back when I was playing CE I didn’t give a -Yoink- about all the stuff that we mostly talk about now, I just played it because it was awesome. Obviously tastes become refined over the years, etc.

This year around, I didn’t pick up MW3 until like 2 weeks ago when it was on sale for 30 bucks at a Target near me, I picked it up knowing full well what it was, and I’m enjoying it with friends as nothing more than a casual distraction.

Halo, of course is my main competitive title of choice/interest. As long as there are people who want to play it sincerely, and enough to have a healthy population, I’ll be happy. These things have to be natural, not contrived. I’m not going to try and sell people on playing Halo, because if they don’t even have an open mind enough to try it out, I’m not gonna waste my time on them. Even when I was dead hooked on Halo 2 I always tried to expand my tastes and try other games to see what they had to offer(this concept obviously applies in life as well).

My point is, the only time when people are going to start floating back to this series is when it delivers a product that can sell itself, so to speak. So, in those regards, 343 making this new titles more visceral, graphically enchanting, and ear splitting is a good direction to pursue. In the dimension of becoming more entertaining, as for competitive merit/etc, those things are yet to be seen.

I understand your pain. I work in retail as well. I had the rep come in and start putting BO II stuff up as well. I had to yell at him since he was trying to take down all signs for other products. His face looked like a pets after getting yelled at for being bad lol.

so your more less saying they’re bribing players to pre order there… Typical… Halo 4 has even’t announced there pre order gimmicks yet and im pretty sure its still higher…
