Hello Waypoint users. We all know that these Halo 5 updates have largely underwhelmed us (aside from Forge and Noctus which are good additions IMO), and it seems that January’s update will be no different in that we still aren’t getting gametypes (which are easily the most requested and the most lacking in Hali 5 as it is).
Now, one thing that truly grinds my gears, not the updates themselves or the way 343i stays silent and doesn’t try very hard to show us they have a plan and that we will get what we want at some scheduled point instead of the monthly addition of silly REQ skins… what truly pisses me off, is that some of you- the Community- are calling out us normal, sane folks saying we’re “ungrateful” or “entitled” and that 343i “owes us nothing”, that “we should be thankful because this is all free content” and it is “better than nothing”.
So let’s settle this, here and now. These updates? They’re not free.
Halo 5 shipped an incomplete game, a game that fails to meet both our expectations and the promise of 343i to deliver a good, complete Halo experience. Now, I’m a patient man- I’m willing to dig through the mountains of pineapple grenade REQs and see the positives: we got Forge, we got two real dev maps in Noctus and Overgrowth, 343i has promised both improvements to File Share, UI, Social playlists and most importantly gametypes (all of which are things that SHOULD HAVE BEEN THERE at launch…). But what I’m not willing to do is sit here and read the rants of blind 343i supporters telling OPs of constructive posts that this content is free.
Because it isn’t- we payed for it. We payed 60$, and got an incomplete game with the promise that one day- be it two months from now, or perhaps a year (which doesn’t seem far fetched at this pace) this game will be what we thought we were buying. What we SHOULD have been able to play and use and share AT LAUNCH. These updates are not any sort of added bonus content, they are a contract between us and 343i where they drip-feed us the things that we deserve for our money and as I said- one day in the future, when there are dev-made BTB maps and gametypes galore, that when we’ll start saying thank you to our game-making overlords.
People here have every right to complain about these updates and about the way 343i converses with it’s community. They have every right to be bitter and even angry, because the game they payed for isn’t here yet. We’re waiting three months, and it’s still not even close to being finished- nor does it look like the missing features will be here any time soon.
So stop -Yoinking!- yourselves.

You are correct ! We’ve been saying this before the game even released lol.

I belive that the monthly update/DLC is free but that there will be other purcaseable DLC

Agree 99% 1% NO. What 1% Do you not agree on TaCs197 i hear you say. You’ve made similar rants I’m sure Well I’ll tell you… Pineapple grenade req skins were my idea. THIEF. That is the 1% you lack sir and i will keep that 1%

In all honesty it is funny to watch fanboys line up with thier torches like an angry mob in an episode of southpark and just “rabble rabble rabble” about how it’s free and they deserve our praise or my favorite- if you can do better why don’t you make a game. You Don’t just except mediocrity and expect it to get better. Don’t you understand when you defend this kind of practice of drip feeding mediocre content you’re telling them to do it more next time.
Halo 4 seems to be the most hated on from the franchise but it launched with full playlists several maps fileshare theater and forge. Why did 343 do this? Because it was the standard. By defending this new system you are making it the new standard.
Let me break it down Barney style for you. Normally you can get a A hamburger pizza for 10$ but no one wants a hamburger pizza. So in order to sell these pizzas no one wants i say well Now it’s bye one get one FREE but now the price is 15$ Did you get the second pizza free?
That is whats happening here. We paid full price for half a game with the promise of more to come free. I can’t make it any simpler without crayons and a sock pupet.

The monthly free updates are only running until June, after that we will probably start seeing paid DLC, hopefully a bit of story DLC id 343 decide to suprise us by going back on what they say, but when has that ever happened…

Halo 5 needs an expansion pack or something similar to Destiny. Would be really nice to see that.
Halo 5: The Taken Warden.

WHAT THE -Yoink- IS THIS DEBAUCHERY? Members of the Halo 5 community giving “credit where it’s due”? Not only commenting, but complementing each other on agreeable ideas rather than shooting each other down?

YOU TWO -Yoink-! This is NOT THE PLACE for setting a good example! This is the HALO 5 COMMUNITY! TROLL OR BUST!

Hello,ungreatful dude =)

I remember one promise before release ‘‘Forge is coming in december’’ and it comes out at december!
They never made a promise for Grifball, infection and other stupid stuff, you guys just keep asking for stuff the world don’t need, that actually doesn’t made it a promise…eh?

I have clear priority for my loved Halo.

1)Gameplay and balance:Means weapons, maps, movement needs to hit the right spot, and they do with Glory!
2)Precision weapons.
3)Stable conection to have fair engagement’s(we have still room for improvements here but still its better than every other Halo)
4)Healthy sort of gametypes, and i am pretty fine right now, actually i don’t need anything else than CTF and Warzone(dat -Yoink- rules)!
5)Vehicles i still need Engineer armor mod to reactivate Emp’ed stuff xD

Everything else is just bonus feature for me,not needed but thankfully accepted!

You say we have a contract and must get these free content for free, wtf!?
Show it to me,you can’t eh?
Be angry get mad whatever you like to be,but in God’s name be realistic they can stop support instantly and owe you nothing, better be happy they are not asking for you’r wallet!

^ This guy gets it. I personally believe that if 343 had replaced Breakout with BTB at launch many people wouldn’t feel like the game lacked content. I get it 343 was pushing out breakout and warzone kind of a kid showing off his project.
I enjoy the monthly Free updates of maps mainly because it doesn’t break up the community and makes me look forward to something. I don’t understand why people rather wait for a couple of months and pay for a DLC that most likely mirrors the same updates that you got monthly. In other words just because you pay for it, doesn’t necessarily means that 343 is going to give you any more maps or shinier ones.
While I do want more game modes just to take a break from slaying bodies it’s not a deal breaker for me.

No fear. In exchange for our continued patience and as compensation for delays, I’m sure 343 will give us exclusive, never seen before REQ packs. It truly is an honour, isn’t it?

Two things!

  1. We don’t even know what is coming in the next update yet. It has only been hinted at!
  2. Why do people persist to say paid DLC is better? You have to wait longer to get the same amount of content you get in the time period of a few months! And it also costs money! And the content is the exact same -Yoink-!

Great thread OP +1

More people need to read this.

Because what they’re releasing now is content that should have been released at launch like the previous halo games. Better to have a full game with some paid DLC maps than have a half complete game slowly roll out features as DLC with the tag “FREE!”.

Will people stop defending 343. Sheesh.

Hey hey! I wasn’t defending anyone. I was saying my honest opinion. 343 -Yoinked!- up the campaign very hard!

OT: The map count at launch was ridiculously good for an FPS. Sure the playlists were all screwed up but you gotta give them a nod for the decent maps. Actually the only content that we are getting that should’ve been in launch are gamemodes, including forge, then we would have basically the same, if not more content at launch than Halo 3 had. If you want me to make a list then just say the word.

Me personally, anyone that tries to argue that Forge and Big team Battle were given to us for free, when 343i even said that they were both delayed because they were not ready at launch, I cannot take them seriously and therefore, I don’t bother to continue having the discussion with them. It’s almost as if they think people would actually pay for those features and be ok with it if 343i put a price tag on them.

Sigh. This isn’t true.

The free updates will continue post-June. The only reason the trailers have said until June is due to a fiscal year thing - Frankie confirmed this on GAF.

Mark V armour set
Mark V helmet
Eagle AR skin
Wolf Pistol skin
Carbine Needle Rifle (looks to be usable in Arena, too)
Fathom remix

Full details will be revealed closer to the launch, just like it has with every other update. I’m willing to bet they’ve got another surprise or two for us, too.

Alright, sorry, that came out a bit harsh. It suppose to be more of a general statement applied everybody since i’ve just read through all the comments in to forums.

Didn’t H3 ship with 11 or so maps? Excluding the forge canvases, its pretty much on par (if not a bit more?). Although I guess there is also Warzone though… Nevertheless, the campaign is lackluster, 343 ignore that fanbase about gametypes and such.
