Say what you want about the issues this game is facing, but I’m very optimistic. Put this in the perspective of the larger picture. This was supposed to be (and likely STILL will be) MS’s ace in the hole for competing with PS4. There is no way they will let these problems go unresolved. If it ACTUALLY gets to the point that MS loses faith in 343’s ability to patch this game (unlikely, and not the scenario a lot of kids actually have pictured in the reality that exists in their own head), MS will step in and figure out how to fix this. I’d go as far as to say they’d make them build the game from the ground up all over again and distribute it for free.
My point is, MS will gladly take a financial loss on this project to satisfy the consumers in order to keep them playing Xbox, which overall becomes a net gain. There is simply too much riding on this game for a fix to not be properly implemented in a reasonable amount of time. Keep in mind too, that people will come back to this game when it’s ready to play, unlike the nonsense you hear here like, “This gaming population will be irrelevant by the time it’s fixed”, “My friends have already stopped playing so 343/MS needs to fix this now or risk losing me as a customer”. Statements like that are crap. If this game gets fixed, people will be getting their hands all over it and playing it non-stop. Lockout, Midship, The Pit, etc., aren’t going to suddenly start sucking. They will come back; come on, it’s why you bought the game in the first place, who are we kidding here?
Three weeks is probably an eternity for a lot of you. It’s certainly frustrating, but there’s too much riding on this to believe that this game is just going to fade away into the mist. If this was Reach or Halo 4 at launch, it might have, because people wouldn’t necessarily wait to play a game that they might/might not like…with MCC you know what you’re getting is time-tested and roundly accepted as some of the best FPS gaming the world has ever known. That’s why it will be worth the wait, plus whatever additional compensation we’ll be getting to “make things right”. Whether you want to wait or not is up to you.
I’m in it to the end because I know I have at least 5 friends with the same mindset. Because hell if it’s just us 6 in the end we can play custom’s from all our favorite games.
wow! that’s so off! first of lets take a look and see what MS has done about this issue A: denied refunds until its fixed so they could not lose a dime of the consumers money. B: despite the on going problems they issued a $15 gift card for those who purchased the game in Dec no money lost there! so I conclude with saying MS will keep trying to push its broken product just for the MONEY!!!

Cool. Over Thanksgiving, I was visiting a friend at his apartment and his roommate whom I’d just met had bought the game and I asked his thoughts, which were, “Game is great but the servers are screwed. It’ll get fixed in time though”. So it was refreshing to hear a candid response like that, knowing that there are plenty out there that aren’t going nuclear over the problems that are currently affecting the game.

Well, there’s shades of the truth in your statement. MS is a business; the end goal of that business is to make money. The overall tone of my OP is that because of the desire to make money, MS will see that this game is properly remedied.
In denying refunds, in the instances that it’s actually occurred, MS does have a legal point that they should be afforded an opportunity to fix it before you file a claim. It’s a lot like lemon laws for cars, which are a much bigger investment. The auto manufacturer is to be given a minimum of three opportunities to fix the problem before a claim can be made for a refund/equivalent exchange…and you’re talking about a minimum of a $15k investment roughly compared to a $60 game. But who cares, right?
As far as the gift card is concerned, I did not read if that was expressly due to the game being in the state that it’s in, but around this time of year there’s typically sales around days known as Black Friday and Cyber Monday, where retailers and distributors offer incentives for consumers to buy their products. As an example, XBL over the weekend offered Titanfall + all DLC for $12.50.
Obviously MS is going to push their product because they have confidence that it can be optimized and it is working for some people, so by definition for the whole, it is not a broken product. It is not an optimized product, but it is not broken or else it would affect 100% of the population. This thread will not focus on that definition though, only the bigger picture and why that should be the indicator of what lay ahead in the future.
Like others in this thread, I also appreciate your optimism. Although the assumptions with regards to the Microsoft/343i relationship seem like a bit of a stretch. While the scenario you’ve laid out may be feasible it’s not like anyone has a crystal ball or knows what decisions they will make regardless if whether or not the MCC gets fixed.

good response! but…
A: I have never bought a car.
B: I bought titanfall for $12.50 but MCC DOES come with that $15 all month!
C: I see no way that MS/343 can fix this game in “the near future”
D: MCC has become a $60 H5 beta key for me! at least until its fixed.
Nothing wrong with being helpful, but I don’t buy. 40 friends trying to play the first few days and now I have 5. Most of them aren’t coming back if this game gets fixed. Lots of people telling me they can’t see people abandoning this game but who would’ve believed the game would be so screwed up almost a month after launch.
MS has stepped in quite significantly through the patching process. They sent their brightest and most talented to 343 to start spitting patches out like nothing.

Well you wouldn’t play either if it’s not working. If they still own the game, I inagine they’ll come back. In the event that the game is up and running smoothly for the vast majority, not playing the game out of spite is kind of a weak argument and counterintuitive to why you bought it in the first place. It’s like saying, “I’ll play, as long as it’s on my terms”. I really don’t care what you do but it stands to reason that if the game isn’t functional for someone, then they aren’t going to load it up and stare blankly at a matchmaking screen expecting the game to suddenly work.

This. I wouldn’t count on this game being broken for too much longer.
This game will be fixed in due time. Neither Microsoft or 343 will let this go without a solution.
Besides, if it goes on for much longer, there’s probably going to be a sizeable compensation.

It does mean I play on my terms. I purchased the Xbox and this game to play when I want, but now I can’t play much. I don’t stare blankly since I use the tips to getting MM to work, and there have been three patches already. I play GTA when I get fed up with MCC, since it works every time.
