Its just the little things about this game that i can’t stand. I know everyone asked for a DLC playlist, and i did as well, but why must we play 6v6? What happened to the classic 4v4? Or how come there isn’t any objective involved in it? There’s just no motive for me to even want to play it anymore. I could careless how closely they choose to watch it, I’ll be one of the many people who purchased DLC and will refuse to play it because of how badly the playlist was implemented.
The whole bloom vs zero bloom thing honestly isn’t even a big deal to me anymore, i’ve gotten use to it. Of course, i prefer zero bloom any day over 100%, but its honestly just these little things that get to me. I missed out on halo 3 because i had my Xbox live membership cancelled, but i did play Halo 2 for about 3-4 years. Why is it that a playlist like living dead gets more love than a competitive playlist? When did halo become this way? Halo reach just doesn’t have that spark like the original and halo 2 versions brought. Yes, i will continue to play Reach and yes i do enjoy the game from time to time, but this is the first halo game i have ever played where i get BORED and ANNOYED of things easily. 343 is doing a much better job than what Bungie ever accomplished with this game, but sometimes, i just cant stand Reach.

Ehh. Reach killed the Halo’s competitive spirit. Now it is filled of casual kids who think the AR takes skill and Armor Lock is a cool addition to the game. It’s no surprise for me that LD is the most populated playlist.

Bungie made the game. They did all the work. 343i has only implemented little changes. It’s too bad you missed out on Halo 3 because it was amazing.
Anyway if you can’t learn to adapt than you’re going to fail. There are plenty of playlists that haven’t been nerfed, maybe you should try them? Also this game was designed with weapon bloom and armor abilities. These shouldn’t be tweaked IMO, it’s thrown off the balance of the game. Gameplay requests should be logged for Halo 4.
Also, Reach IS competitive. You’re probably just playing in the wrong hopper. I stand behind my long-time statement of Lone Wolves/ Rumble Pit/ free for all being the most competitive. Playlists like MLG and The Arena are also highly competitive, you just need a skilled, like-minded team to enter with. That being said it is also less competitive than Halo 3 where every playlist was dominated by the Battle Rifle. Halo: Reach has given all types of players a space to enjoy the game however they see fit.
This is Bungie’s game, they should just be polishing it not implementing major tweeks. In the end it’s really not a big deal to me, I’d much rather see them uphold the canon and backstory and support their franchise rather than cater to newcomers.

No i’ve been playing reach for a long while so i do know what playlists are competitive, I was just trying to state that this game is nothing like its predecessors. I wish i was there to experience Halo 3 because Halo 2 was the one video game that had the biggest impact on me. I only play MLG or the TU beta when i even play reach, but I’m just trying to say so much has changed. There’s no motive to want to do anything. I absolutely can’t stand the leveling system and although your rank doesn’t mean anything, its always nice competing for something and having something to show for. I loved how you could lose your level in Halo 2. It brought out the competitiveness in everyone. There were no party chats back then so when a team was talking down on you, you were forced to step up and show them up. This is the Halo i miss. I miss playing Team Hardcore, Snipers, Slayer, Skirmish that actually meant something. Every playlist in reach is just a joke now except for MLG and the occasional arena. The only problem i have with MLG is the same 4 maps being played over and over.
It seems like everyone in the forums are more worried about their big team battle, living dead, and invasion, which is fine, but i will never get use to that. This isn’t the halo i grew up to.
If BTB and Infection aren’t your thing you need to be in The Arena. I am a Halo veteran I started in '01 and consider myself to be highly proficient in competitive hoppers. I haven’t played in The Arena in a couple months and decided I would jump in last night and I got my -Yoink- handed to me (for the first two rounds anyway ;] )
What I’m saying is that Halo is still as competitive as Halo 3’s Team Slayer (at higher levels) and MLG playlists were. I also had noticed that Armour Lock and Hologram were removed from The Arena which I think was a step in a more competitive, more tactical direction.
Lone Wolves is another good area to get a challenge - you can’t blame your team when you’re the only one on it!
I got a feel for how bloom has changed on the DMR in a TU Slayer match I played in the Arena. They definitely didn’t nerf it completely and it took a little getting used to, but being able to time my shots more frequently felt good. I think, if anything, it requires more skill to use as some Halo 3 vet’s are obviously using old BR tactics to out-gun their opponent (good thing I’m a vet too haha).
I noticed you were complaining about “classic” 4v4 and the lack of objective. I think the community as a whole has decided that we want Slayer and Objective games separate and therefore we have two different hoppers for these. Just pick the one you would like to play, it’s that easy!
As a Halo vet I have seen this community cry and nit-pick everything about the past 5 games. I honestly believe Bungie and more recently 343i have catered to us in more ways than I see necessary and for that we should be grateful and not continue to nit-pick.
