And by the title I mean don’t focus as much on the multiplayer, Halo CE was built around Campaign with multiplayer there, then Halo 2 and onward has mainly focused on the multiplayer, really? I think it’s time for them to have SpOps and Firefight there and focus on them post launch
I would love a larger focus on campaign and co-op experiences post launch. Spartan Ops was fun, but it needs some serious work if it’s going to return. I would much rather see a proper “second campaign”
I agree, some if not more focus should be spent on improving other avenues of the game. Making Firefight more customizable (weather, or enemy behavior), making spartan ops more personal (cinematic cutscenes of players spartan), adding more replay value to the campaign (scoring, skull hunting) etc. Just make these other experiences better.
> I would love a larger focus on campaign and co-op experiences post launch. Spartan Ops was fun, but it needs some serious work if it’s going to return. I would much rather see a proper “second campaign”
Yup, when usually talking about SpOps I tend to bring up it should of been more of a Quality over Quantity thing, it was fun, but the experiences should of been more unique instead of cut and paste maps and offer little differences between the objectives

Even just the addition of scoring and skulls would have been an improvement.
What I would love to see, if SpOps returns, is more risk. Let’s have a mission with dog fights (like Long Night of Solace), let’s have a full-on stealth mission, let’s have a mission that requires co-operation and tactics. Let’s see some variety and ingenuity! Mission people like could be incorperated into future games, or improved upon for future SpOps missions.

Definitely this, every thing here would be pretty much ideal
It seems MP is all 343i seems to acknowledge these days. Every time I visit the main page, that’s all I ever seen.
My woes have been long confirmed:
•Campaign easter eggs are no longer mentioned in bulletins
•A Different Way to Campaign is long dead
•Haven’t seen anything from HighSpeedHalo recently
•Campaign/SO easter eggs aren’t even deserving of being called easter eggs
•Poor Campaign/SO challenges
•Poor XP payout for completing Campaign/SO challenges
•No Theater for Campaign/SO, as a result no screenshots or File Share
•QTEs
•No meta game scoring for Campaign/SO
•No skulls in SO
•Same skull set from Halo 3/ODST/Reach
•No skull hunting
•No Co-op scaling
If they don’t change their prioritization, then it doesn’t matter if it has CoD elements or not. Things have been stale since Halo 3, it’s just a lot less subtle.
> I would love a larger focus on campaign and co-op experiences post launch. Spartan Ops was fun, but it needs some serious work if it’s going to return. I would much rather see a proper “second campaign”
This so much. Firefight had it’s time. SO had it’s chance. Instead of emulating something that is inherently flawed, they should stick with the tried and true. A “second Campaign”.

I loved “A Different Way to Campaign”. I always thought it was popular, but it seem to have gone the way of the dinosaur. And Co-Op scaling was probably one of the best features from Halo Reach. I’m very sad to see it go.
Since we’re on the topic of campaigns, I would briefly like to talk about enemy toughness. Enemies become too much like bullet sponges on higher difficulties. Such toughness scaling needs to dissappear. Weakening the player is more than enough to make a game challenging while keeping it engaging. Bullet sponges are nothing more than tedious, 343.
I think one of the worst things is that multiplayer elements like the perks affect Campaign, why am I not able to pick up a grenade from a co-op partner when they die?

Look at CE, the AI are fun to fight, even though the enemy was tougher you sort of benefited as your shields recharged quicker, etc.

The enemy toughness increase in Halo CE was minimal at best, and the enemies never felt like bullet sponges. Halo Reach, it takes 2 plamsa pistol overchange shots to take down an Ultra’s Shields. That’s a bit of an issue. Even if the enemies aren’t fun, the need to be engaging. You can have an engaging game that isn’t fun (though fun certainly helps).
Also, did your shields recharge quickers? I don’t recall, nor did I ever notice.
As far as the main campaign goes, I can’t help but imagine the vast majority of the development time goes into it. Multiplayer development mostly comes down to weapon and armor ability tuning. I have to think that team is vastly different from the one that designs scenarios, scripted events, and ai for the campaign.Just about everything else applies equally to campaign and multi player aside from the maps, which again I would imagine has a seperate team working on it.
Now if you’re talking about post launch, then yeah. They probably need to do a better job of supporting PVE content. That being said, they really need to do a better job of supporting PVP content as well.

I agree.
I agree Halo needs to focus more on Player v Enemy rather than Player v Player. I play Halo for the story and then go to the competitive multiplayer. A longer campaign and a new multiplayer coop mode would bring back Halo’s glory. People need to realize that Halo will never be the multiplayer juggernaut it once was. Too many games now have multiplayer and a fair number of them are easier and more accessible to the average player. Most console FPS fans have moved to CoD and they will stay their until Activison milks the franchise dry. .Spartan Ops was a start but it was a huge let down. The gameplay broke the experience it was pretty much stand in an area defend it, use button, end mission. Where was the movement though the level or the variability in the terrain, the vehicle missions, and so on? Make Halo 5’s campaign semi open world and watch tons of people flock to it. Halo cannot not compete with CoD and Battlefield for multiplayer dominance but it can blown those game out of the water when it comes to campaign and the story. Focus on Halo’s real strengths, Player v Enemy content, story, campaign, and lore not on trying to build a Call of Duty killer.

You know, a player could get highly confused if he or she were able to pick up grenades without a mod from campaign and not from multiplayer. I definitely see why 343 let the perks also affect Campaign.

That is a poor excuse, it is not 343’s fault if people don’t realise it is a feature which can pretty much be toggled

I agree.
Bullet sponges are my biggest per peeve when it comes to FPS. Why should I have to shoot a knight 10-15 (just an estimate) times in the head to kill him? Super Health buffed enemies do not make the game harder just more frustrating. Improve the AI as you go up in difficulty.

It makes it much more time consuming than it needs to be, Brutes in Halo 2, Knights in Halo 4, it is more of a waste of time than a challenge, the best way to give us a challenge is to give us challenging AI, they need to be smart, not just give this guy a damage and shield buff, there boom, Legendary difficulty

It was sarcasm though. It is a poor and probably their only excuse.
Didn’t pick up on the sarcasm. Ignore…
