It's Good to be the King

It took some time, but after finally completing the Halo Infinite campaign I have decided without hesitation or resignation, that Halo Infinite is one of the best Halo games to date second only to Combat Evolved.

To keep it brief: I have been playing Halo for twenty years, and this game features my favorite iteration of each enemy unit, weapon, environment, art, level design, characters, dialogue, and voice acting. I can write at length about each design decision featured and why it has me so enthralled, but the digression was neither asked for nor will it be respected in the desolate wasteland that has become the Halo Waypoint community forum. So, I’ll leave it at that. Just know that I am a fan of this franchise, beginning to end.

343, have a drink on me. Let this game be the beginning of a new… daringly endless era of Halo. Despite an insatiable ‘fanbase’ questioning your every creative endeavor, as well as an admittedly rough development history, this game is somehow an instant masterpiece. Nuts to bolts, art to gameplay, Halo Infinite is an achievement. Full stop. Be proud.

I eagerly await whatever it is you have in store for the future.

While there is much work that needs to be done and players are justifiable to air their complaints of what this game is missing or can do better, I do share some of your confidence and admiration. Gameplay and visual-wise, I think Infinite is the definite way to go and am grateful that 343 had gone back and traced back to what I really enjoyed about Halo and see making a return and evolving certain aspects of it in the right way.

But there are some of your compliments that I cannot necessarily agree with, and while Infinite is very promising and fun for me currently, its rather fledgling start that we have makes it only better than Halo 5 in terms of overall enjoyment with a lot of ways to go before it can rise above its other predecessors.
