Matchmaking in this game is getting really quite good. The only thing that will make it great and make me keep playing it for years to come is IN GAME RANKS. That’s it. It’s really simple. It will make or break Halo 4, and I can’t seem to understand why anyone would choose against this. It is a FACT that in game ranks will make this game incredibly addicting and fun to play.
as of now though. it is quite unclear whether CSR will be in game rankings or not. either way you will get this most optimal experience IMO

Not a fact. A widely accepted opinion that has been proven wrong with games such as Dota 2, TF2, L4D 1& 2, Pokemon, etc.
While I too want in game ranks, I’m content right now with the CSR on the way. Steps in the right direction are being made.

It is a fact. Look at the the “popular” Halo games. What did they have and what do the “unpopular” Halo games don’t have. What do the longest lasting Halo online games have? What do Reach and Halo 4 whose population dwindled within 6 months of launch don’t have. Look at the facts. We are talking about REAL online competitive games not whatever those games you listed are. Did you honestly list Pokemon. This is HALO. come on people have a little respect
Close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades… and everyone here starts with two sticky blue hand grenades.
CSR is not going to bring the population back on it’s own.
If it is not implemented correctly then there will be a bigger drop in population.
What is CSR going to be based on anyway? A JiP fueled W/L record? The K/D of objective campers and rage quitters?
Besides there is already a website based CSR over at Halotracker.

I did. Because it’s a popular franchise of game. In fact its one of the best made games in today’s generation, with a very healthy competitive scene.
You stated that,
> It is a FACT that in game ranks will make this game incredibly addicting and fun to play.
I simply pointed out various popular games that do not use in game ranking systems, and still hold a very strong population.
Now if you want to bring up the point of past halos and what Halo 4 doesn’t have:
Campaign scoring and theater
Less custom options
No region search functionality
And many more.
Ranks are simply a part of the equation, not the whole solution.

From what I’ve read a combo of W/L and if an objective game mode how you do with completing objectives. I think it’s also safe to assume that K/D will play a part like in previous Halos.
It has been made pretty clear that 343 did not include a way to make the ranks visible in game. The ranks being on waypoint will not bring people back.
Only the diehard will even know it is there
I still think that come April the CSR will be visible. There’s a reason when you go into MM at SR130 it’s blank.
We could use another map pack at the same level in quality as Majestic. I’d love to see the next map pack be 3 large Forge environments that come with 3 pre-made maps ready to play right out of the box with community maps to follow. They could be large and small and everything in between.
Funny how CSR is coming out on April
I hope this isn’t one big April Fools joke
All they need to do is make it visible on your service record. Easy to find, able to keep track easily and not shoved in your face.

He was correct, your statement is not a fact. There are too many variables.
It doesn’t matter anyway. Nothing 343i does to MP will improve the population at this point.
> CSR is not going to bring the population back on it’s own.

I doubt that it will drop any more for CSR, given how low it is right now (less than 30k at the moment).

You must have never played any games on the computer. LFD, TF2, DOTA2 are all very competitive games that do not have Ranks. TF2 is one of the goto LAN party FPS
Ranks don’t make games competitve

My first thought when a read this was “A lack of serious market competition”. It had games to compete with, but none with serious console communities behind them yet, so they didn’t carry nearly the same longevity that Halo 3 did.
