It took over 5 games (Halo 1, 2, 3, Reach, 4) but FINALLY there will be dedicated servers.
I think i along with the rest of my friends will be getting back on halo xbox one.
It’s been a long time coming.
The storm is coming over the horizon.
Honestly, Halo has never really suffered from lag. Hit detection is almost always perfect, and aside from current-era-Halo 4 (i.e. low population Halo 4) it’s never truly suffered from frequent host migrations.
People just make a big deal about this 'cause it’s the thing-to-make-a-big-deal-about. If you truly think connection is an issue, play MW3 or Black Ops II. If you really want to go extreme, play Halo PC, play Crysis 2. THAT will enlighten you to what actual connection issues are.
Aside from host migrations, I seriously doubt that this will have a big impact. If one thing can be said about Halo, it’s that it has arguably the best net code out of any game.

Halo CE on the Xbox had LAN based MP, no Dedicated server needed. Halo PC/Custom Edition had Dedicated servers.
Great, now what about the other stale things:
-lack of audio settings innovation (last Halo game to do this was Halo PC)
-lack of checkpoint innovation (last Halo game to do this prominently was Halo 2, last Halo game to do this subtly was Reach)
-same skulls for 3-4 Halo games
-lack of skull hunting for 3-4 Halo games
-2x grenade count for 3-4 Halo games
-low jump height for 3-4 Halo games
-slow vehicle exit times for 3-4 Halo games
-linear vehicle runs for 3-4 Halo games (H3 Hog run with no shortcuts, ODST Oliphant escort, Reach on-rails Falcon, H4 Mantis with no alternate vehicle choices on Infinity, H4 Ghost run with no multiple paths or shortcuts)

Disagree, I remember in halo 3 when I would start a game. Literally 1/3 - 1/2 the time I ended up having to sit at the score board for the first 2-3 minutes of the game and I would finally join (never had this issue in any other game, including reach and 4). It was essentially playing a halo 4 jip game. Finally get into game, team down 22-13, hopefully it’s comeback time.
And I disagree on the hit detection comment, just look at snipers and precision weapons in 2, 3 (mainly just sniper), reach, and 4.
The lag in Halo is definitely enough to be a problem. Dedicated servers will be great for multiplayer not only for connection quality but many other factors as well.

All the problems you detailed are problems of poor internet connection on your part or that of the people you played with. When playing on full bars, host status is practically irrelevant with the net code that Halo has. That’s not going to change with dedicated servers.
