The horror stories in regards to this launch are too many to count. So, should I buy or skip altogether? Yay or Nay. Intelligent, unbiased arguments, please.
You should get off the fenc.
And, I would say do not buy this game yet. It doesn’t seem like it will be ready for a bit. Just wait for now.
Apart from the -Yoink- that should be fixed the game is amazing
Technically you have a few days to return it if things don’t work right? The content alone if massive, but the MM (right now) is useless until they fix things. Campaign wise it’s very good, but for people like myself who bought it for the MP it’s not so attractive. I’ll be honest I bought this to make sure my XB1 would get as much playtime as my PS4, but since buying both the PS4 has exceeded my expectations with game launches and functionality. The XB1 is pretty sad right now
It’ll get fixed eventually. They’re actively working on it, and giving updates on how its going, which is more than alot of developers. I’d say that its not worth getting right now unless you can get quite a bit of gametime out of campaign Forge, and customs- personally, I have no problems outside matchmaking, though I don’t speak for everyone. That said, I doubt its irredeemable, and shouldn’t be passed up entirely. Just give it time.
I am gonna get a refund and wait for it to be fixed then the price to drop

But literally every aspect of the game isn’t functioning properly. I’m still suggesting you wait for improvement before you buy, OP.
obviously you love halo or you wouldn’t be here. The collection is everything you know and love only better (when it works), yes it is frustrating, but they are going to fix it. It is a pr nightmare for a huge studio so there is no way they won’t. If you have the cash deff buy it. I’ts halo man!
This is going to be an amazing game when they get it up and running properly…but it’s not quite at that point yet. It’s without question worth buying if you’re a Halo fan, especially Halo 2. Just bear in mind that it’s currently a struggle to do things you’d think should be easy (like getting into matches in all the gametypes, for example), so don’t be frustrated when it doesn’t work perfectly.
IF they get it up and running properly. That’s the Big If here.
So guys, the Big White Patch Hope is out…and it seems it’s not been that successful. Should I forget about every buying this or any other Halo game now?
Works great for a lot of people, it’s just that unhappy people are normally more vocal then happy people.
Yeah, but I couldn’t help but notice the patch notes mentioned nothing about fixing the saving game progress bugs or the laggy coop and, indeed, it seems those issues weren’t fixed. MM and connectivity do seem to be issues that will vary with each individual player, where they live, their network conditions and so forth. But if the single player is still broken then that’s a big red flag I can’t ignore.
The constant bugs, glitches, and crashes make me pissed off but when the game works, it works beautifully. 60 frames is also amazing when it’s not dropping every 5 seconds. And don’t bother with split screen. This game is horribly optimized for the xbox one, only Halo CE and Halo 2 classic can maintain a steady 60fps in split screen mode. Halo 2 Anniversary split screen is like 15fps and Halo 4 is just as bad. Not sure about Halo 3 yet.
In all honesty if you can wait you should. Aside from the online fiasco the game campaign is amazing. If you want the most fluid experience online and offline I would wait until everything is ironed out. I got the game on launch night and now I feel like I should have just waited the whole time.
I havnt had any problems with single player, all of the playlists and single player campaigns have worked fine for me. I have beaten all four campaigns on legendary, and I think I lost progress on one level during Halo 2.
Since all of the levels are unlocked from the beginning it isn’t like you need to restart your campaign from the beginning. You just might need to restart an individual level, which I dont think is that big of a deal.
Matchmaking has it’s fair share of issues, which seem to be being dealt with, I have definitely noticed improvement.
Overall with the single player alone I think that I got my moneys worth, and once the multiplayer gets ironed out then I think the MCC will be darn near perfect. I would say wait a couple weeks if multiplayer is your focus, but if you want to experience the story, then go ahead and pick it up.

I’ve experienced the story. Time and time again, with all four original games which I still own. To me, the main draw of this collection was to be able to replay classic h2 and h3 multiplayer, plus H1 multiplayer, which I’ve never played. And if that’s not anywhere near viable now - if ever - well then, money better saved, etc.
Don’t buy yet. I’m a huge fan but there are still lots of problems with mm and parties. The big patch hardly helped. Wait for a full game experience. Oh and don’t listen to anyone saying how the game is perfect or no problems, that’s a lie and maybe 1% of players. So odds are you would have a broken experience like us still. Love the game but wait
So, are there ANY good news yet or should I just silently weep and forget about this title ad Halo in general?

ok honest opinion, it looks like its getting better, but still far away from playing ranked matches with your friends.
as you may noticed 343i proved several times now, that they have no clue how to handle the halo series.
h4 was a shame for every competitive gamer and h5 looks like some casual garbage too if you ask me.
you should probably wait for another week and see if its playable by then and dont get your hopes up to high for h5.
halo’s competitive arena gameplay died after h3.
