It's Been Asked a Thousand Times- Colorblind Mode

Destiny has a color blind mode.

Its hard to differentiate different shades of red for me and sometimes the red enemies just disappear, especially on Molten. Omg Molten. It seems this has been a regularly asked for feature since 2015.

I’m always surprised when I see these complaints. Surprised that there isn’t a colorblind option in Halo 5. I know I’ve seen it in other shooters.

RuthlessSkate94 has the same problems. Sorry man, but he can see red fine though.

I have the same problem. Red/Green are my issue. I didn’t even know I was colorblind until I went into the military. Although I don’t think it’s as bad as some other cases I’ve heard. In halo it doesn’t seem to bother me as much since not many of the maps contain much green foliage. Molten jacks with me too though. In older COD games I had a hell of a time until I discovered it had colorblind mode. Changed my world. I still sucked but at least I could figure out where I was getting killed from. lol

Molten is the worse offender for me. Enemies just happen to vanish and I am like…oh jee…

Yeah, I pretty much write it off as a bad game from the start. lol. I try to stay in areas where the lava is not the back drop. It becomes particularly important if I’m playing Swat. lol

Man I don’t like Molten as a map anyway, can’t imagine being colour blind on it

I’ve been the victim, because a teammate was colour blind. Got of the mic and told our team that this guy was betraying me. He got on apologized and told me he was colour blind. So I told him to stick with me, and we ended up winning the next couple of matches. In the end I had made a new team mate, and I learned to work better with team mates.

Ya I’m really surprised Halo doesn’t have this. I just played Overwatch on the weekend (pretty fun) and it has this mode too. It’s pretty embarrassing really that a triple A title doesn’t have this.

I feel for ya OP, hopefully Halo 6 has it. Otherwise if I were you, I’d support something else that does. There is no excuse as to why this isn’t in.

damn, I hadn’t even considered this, I hope I gets implemented soon, for your guys’ sake

1v1 me on Molten, c´mon lets do it! C´mon!  Just kidding
Sorry to hear that, something I have not even thought of. I hope they offer a colorblind mode for those who need/want it.

This should be a requirement for all games.

Although it remains an issue for many, they blew it off years ago with Halo 4:

> We have a lot of color-blind players in the studio, including myself (100% red/green, which is why I seldom break the Tashi Ceiling), but we will not be producing a color-blindness “mode.” However, we have considered it as an art team, in how we choose palettes and types of contrast. The Spartans and UI elements help tremendously, and so far I am doing a bit better than I’d expect in that area. - The Halo Bulletin: 3.07.12

They can and should take this seriously for Halo 6.

I’m surprised there isn’t a colorblind mode as well. My roommate can mix red and green up (that Bills vs. Jets Color Rush game gets him every time) and simply has a hard time seeing things on some maps.

Maybe you can adjust settings on your tv/monitor to make it easier for you?

Yea every game has this pretty much. Im not coloblind but i would probably use it cus in breakout the blue team is just OP

I am also partially colorblind- an Extreme Deutan according to enchroma.com. What this means is:

> Deutan, or deuteranomaly, is a type of red-green color blindness in which the green cone doesn’t detect enough green and is oversensitive to yellow, orange, and red.
> As a result, greens, yellows, oranges, reds, and browns may appear similar, especially in low light. It might also be hard to tell the difference between blues and purples or pinks and grays.

and how this affects me in Halo is I have trouble seeing the Blue Spartans against the Covenant-y purple backdrops. Truth is the most notorious offender. It doesn’t affect me often in H5 though- they picked great options to make this disability as minimal as possible. Honestly, if they added in a colorblind mode I might be a little sad as they took away one of my excuses! I wouldn’t be able to say this anymore:

“Oh man I would’ve killed that guy if I weren’t colorblind!” - me some times lol

Well to be fair I only play Halo 5 for the multiplayer, the campaign for 5 was laughably bad. But that quip alone makes me say, taking my money elsewhere to another franchise
