Its All Relavtive

With all the negative threads today decided not to make a another complaint thread just a clarifacation one.

I have recently seen certain debates regarding issues such as kill times, aim assist etc.
People have complained about kill times in Halo 4 being a lot quicker than the previous games.
People’s rebuttal to this statement is that the kill times were actaully quicker in H2/3 compared to Halo 4 :o.

This is infact true, the kill times in H2/3 were quicker (I don’t quite remember the figures but im sure you can find it somewhere). But what I would like to say is that its relative.
What I mean is while the kill times were quicker in H2/3 there are certain factors in H4 which makes it feel the kill times are quicker. For example, Instant Respawn Very often people will spawn in the very same area after you killed them with in milli seconds. Sprint This allows for people that have recently been killed to run back to that area they died in to get a revenge kill.
Ordinance In previous Halos the quick kill power weapons were on map so it was limited as to who would have them and the amount on the map, with ordinance you have at any given time multiple one hit weapons (rockets, snipers, shotguns), speed boost damage boost, different grenades etc.
There are more facotrs bu tI thought I would give the main ones, all these varying factors means that kill times are indeed faster in H4 than previous halos (on average of corse).

The second point I would like to clarify is the auto aim (aim assit) (bullet magnetism) arguement, One arguement that people have to defend the incredibly high aim assist in H4 is the that, halo 2 compared to halo ce had the same difference, from lets say halo 3 to halo 4.
The counter to this that H2 being one of the early games on xbx to feature online capability had to compensate for players varying connection, aim assist had nothing to do with making the game easier for noobs etc it was just a nessescity.

The problem in H4 is not aim assist it is the aim assist + increased hit boxes, these two things togther makes it feel like you controller is on auto pilot a lot of the time.
You could argue that 343 thought that because the game is faster as wel as having sprint that it needed to be that way, who knows.

Sorry for the long read, as I said this is just a clarification thread not a complaint or debate thread, hope this clears up any misunderstanding.

It’s a nice thread, you explain things that many are missing for sure, good work.- But in any case this clarify what are the problems, doesn’t change the game. We need a fix, and 343 should move fast on updating the game before it falls.
I know too many games that becouse of a bad start they got forgotten, for example Horizon…

Thanks… And yh I know it doesn’t clarify the problems of H4 which there is a lot, in the future I Will make a more in depth analysis and possible fixes, I’m waiting for the TU in january before taking any action though, because even though it may be a small chance there is a chance EVERYTHING could be fixed and we could all be enjoying H4 like old again (we can only dream).
As I said though this thread is just to clarify these 2 issues in particular its important to help the newer halo players to understand the thoughts of the the veteran halo players.

Well, at the moment I think that the next update will decide the future of the game: if they fix at least most of it making it playable and fine, the game will survive the bad start and get back famous as the great Halo 4. If it will change nothing important and leave the game with problems… Good Bye Halo…

I agree about the next update. I love this game, but it needs work, it needs work to sustain gameplay over years.

I played Halo 3 from launch till Halo Reach.
I played Halo Reach from launch till Halo 4.

Getting to SR130 is easy and quick. I hope to god TrueSkill Ranks are visible when that update rolls along. Previously 343 said it would only be on Waypoint. That won’t work.

Reach’s Arena didn’t seem overly popular, but it was there. Plus Inheritor took a long time to achieve.

Halo 4 has not even made an attempt at competitive game play, the SR system is a bit of a joke.

My dream solution for early 2013 update

  • VISIBLE 1-50 TrueSkill
  • Ranked Playlists with Join-in-Progress disabled
  • Social Playlists with all objectives in one “Team Objective Playlist”
-SR130 increased to sustain long term game play (Like SR1000 or something)
