It's all about Stacker.

You know what I just realized? Canonically, Master Sgt. Marcus Stacker is in more games in the series than chief.

Canonically, he appears in more games than ANY character, save for Cortana, who appears in as many games (discounting ODST where his occasional appearance is a bug likely, as he is on Installation 05 with the Chief at the time.

And in each of these games he has lines and some sort prominence despite being completely unacknowledged by the game with the exception of ONE time - Reach, in the firefight menu, where he is acknowledged as Gunnery Sgt. despite having not been promoted yet (possible retcon out of Reach’s many retcon, or just a mistake?)

Now of course the subject is hyperbole, but I have to wonder: what is the significance of this character? How is he not dead yet? Could he possibly have been part of ORION like Johnson was? Or is he just a very skilled, badass marine/ODST?

He’s just there as a consistent joke. Johnson was supposed to be just a cool Sgt.in Halo CE but since the community loved him soo much they brought him back thus replacing his role Stacker.

So nothing special to him then?

It’s a shame he’s not explored at all in the novels, in fact substituted by other characters. It’d be nice to know more about him, considering his longevity in appearing in the games.

I’m still wondering if he’s actually going to become a main character eventually (the new Johnson?), or if he’ll just stay the way he is (just there). Hopefully the former.

He’s more than likely just used like Johnson was in CE. A Marine that’s just there. Though I hope he eventually gets the same treatment as Johnson and actually becomes a main character.

As for living so long, I’m going to assume he’s a BA of a Marine.

If there is a halo character who deserves to become a spartan 4, its him. I hope to see more of Stacker in the future

I miss Chips Dubbo! Out of all the Marine voices, his was always the one I enjoyed hearing the most. Seriously, they should bring back Andrew McKaige for Halo Xbox One.

I also liked Orlando Jones as Sergeant Banks in Halo 2. I would like to see him return as either a Marine Sergeant again or maybe a Spartan Commander.

I would actually really like for him to become the new Johnson.

It would be neat having that sort of dynamic again where Chief has his one Marine friend.

This makes me think and almost confident Blue Team is coming back :wink:

Stacker actually comes out in H4 for one line and he ranked up I think, not sure. But I think his placement in H4 was a last minute detail, I hope 343i focuses on bringing him back even if it’s not for story purposes

Yup! He’s a Master Sergeant now.
