Is your life going to be worse if you don’t get what you want out of this video game? If you’re not satisfied with the product you’ve paid for, either try to get a refund or stop using it. Also, how much choice do you think 343i had in the development of this game? All of the vitriol and hate would most likely be better directed at the publisher Microsoft. If you find yourself upset at this product, look outside. There is so much more to life than this video game. It’s really not that serious

Its not serious, its disappointment…and expectations set by other games. Products deliver or they fall flat.

You’re right about one thing. Halo was a piece of art, a pretty damn good one at that. Now, as you said, it’s just a product.

As far as I know 343 has creative control, unless you can prove otherwise, and that would be showing their contract. The game being the disaster that it actually is is on 343 as well.
Edit: It’s funny because all the hard core Bungie fans tried this same nonsense with Activision, blaming them for years on how much Bungie really screwed up Destiny. See, when Activision left Bungie, reality slapped all of them in the face and they went silent because “their Bungie” was and has always been the actual problem.
The same thing with 343. A decade and they can’t even come close to putting out a complete game that it takes freaking years to get one

Video games are my main hobby.
I have -Yoink!- (wow, I didn’t expect that to be censored), and there’s not much else I really like.
Part of the reason I’m still here despite the problems is that I’m worried about what Bethesda and Obsidian’s games are going to be like with most of Microsoft’s developers incorporating and designing around microtransactions.
The other part of why I’m staying is that I like what Halo was, the gameplay and graphics are good, and I’m hoping to see custom games using the Grappleshot, and to make maps with Forge (I like creating things).
The higher-ups at 343 might have had a good amount of choice.
I don’t think vitriol and hate should be directed at anyone though.
I should also add I play games to get away from what’s going on in the world, and seeing that even in the games I’m trying to play for that purpose…well, it defeats the purpose.
Also, I have severe anxiety, so going outside is very rare for me…

i’d love to know what your profession is. i’ve come to believe that sentiments echoed in your post & across the forums are only possible if you are incredibly immature (i.e still a developing person, not an insult) and therefore not able to properly comprehend how business + industry function… or you are genuinely bitter about a game not fulfilling your fantasies.
‘creative control’ isn’t a cut & dry term outlined in a contract - it’s just an idea that we presume all directors, musicians, and game devs utilise.

Maybe read them & then reconsider who really has the final say: the people making the game, or the people that not only own said studio but also the IP - and to top it all off, they’re the ones that pay the people to make the product (i.e game). Seems like Microsoft would stand to benefit from increasing revenue somehow…
Actually yes. My life will be worse if I don’t get what I want out of this game. I went from playing everyday. Hours on end. To a bitter halt in this game. Halo is a part of my life and always will be and one of the things I miss most is playing with friends and meeting new people. Ive built maps for people. Entered competitions. forge competitions. If Halo ultimately fails then a big part of my life will go missing. In some ways it already has. The last two years I haven’t been playing Halo 5. I was waiting for infinite and it turned out to be a horrible experience so far. In these two years I built a different life so yeah, ofcourse I’ll be fine. I can live without Halo. But it’ll hurt and I’ll miss it.
Actually it is that serious. Video games have been biggest entertainment medium in a while now. People created lives around video games. Streaming, content creation, and even social aspects. Halo is a game that can encompass all 3 and then some. If people loose halo. They also loose part of their lives as well. It’s like jackfrags(YouTube) that covers battlefield. If battlefield changes his life changes too because now he creates different content. It’s not just a video game as you say in your title. This isnt 1998. It’s 2022 where all of us have been slowing moving into a digtal space. It’s not like before where you come home from work. Play two hours and that’s your gaming.

It’s not about the a contract, it’s about creativity, but it’s obvious you did know that.
Any company can create content, but not every company can create or wants to create a quality type of game that infinite is far from ever being with this new model. Also, leadership plays its role and 343 after a decade of this shows they have very poor leadership.
Poor leadership leads to poor development. You can’t hide their actions, because it’s literally in plain sight.
My view on things is to look at reality, and to never sugar coat it expressing my thoughts. Some can deal with it and some can’t. Either way, I have no problem putting things out there like how 343 is a compulsive liar. I know, you don’t like hearing the truth, but that is going off of 343"s own actions. I never listen to any company’s words especially knowing how 343 stressed for 6 years prior to this beta being released on how things were going to be that was 100% false.
Being bitter is just a word to make yourself feel better, if it works for you, have at it👍

I only went off how you presented yourself, it wasn’t hard really. I was just for a minute or so trying to figure out how you trying to be sarcastic is helping you any, but won’t give it to much thought.
If you don’t care then why make a thread telling other ppl how they should feel about a franchise they love and want to succeed?
Ppl can say the same to you about any aspect of your life that you enjoy, why criticize others for what enjoyment and concerns they have with a game they had/have high hopes for?
I just think if it’s “just a game” then focus on yourself and don’t worry about what others think.
