You guys need to chill with the monetization and accept that Halo Infinite is a F2P shooter.
Destiny has been around for almost ten years now and has huge ups and downs for Bungie, but here it is with a Winter event selling you an emote for 10 bucks that you can only get in the shop.
Seeing get a coating for armor and weapons with keychains is equivalent or arguably better to that. Many things need change, but the shop shouldn’t have a full remodel.
I don’t see a huge issue with $10 emotes, depending on the quality. its an animation, someone put a decent amount of time into it. nobody complains about TF2’s $10 taunts, because they’re actually good.
infinite charges $15 for a pineapple and some emblems.

Didn’t Bungie cut ties with their Publisher to go on their own with Destiny? They don’t have a bigger company to cover for them and even still they’re just as bad gor over pricing.
I think part of the problem is the Destiny audience is used to that, the Halo audience is not. Another part of the problem is that with the introduction of the store 343 felt the need to not give us color customization, or emblem customization. Things which have been in the Franchise since 2 (CE did let you choose one color). Another issue is the selling of armor that’s 10 years old, which people have already unlocked in two games they’ve paid for. Another issue is there are only bundles, so if you want one item, it feels like you’re not getting your monies worth, because you’re spending money on a bunch of things you don’t want. Another issue, is that Halo Infinite has hardly any customization by default, where as you can unlock a whole bunch of player customization without paying. Also, Infinite only has a rotating shop which sells four bundles, that’s it. And when an item is gone, you don’t know when it will be back, preying on FOMO. When you get right down to it, the price is arguably not even close to the worst problem with how the monetization was handled in Infinite.

Destiny is also a F2P shooter with an extreme amount of content to rival Halo’s. With Halo, theres really only one thing to do as it stands in the purely F2P game: Matchmake. If you want a story, you either need to pay or be a gamepass member. But those are the only elements of Halo Infinte that currently exist. Destiny has a whole extensive main quest system, extensive side quests that contribute more lore to the main story, a weekly challenge system that is worth its weight in both challenges and rewards, a whole gear system that is extremely in depth and allows you to build a character for multitudes of different play styles, a pretty interesting and well thought out class system complete with sub classes that are even more interesting than the classes themselves, raids, dungeons, PvP, PvE, PvEvP, the games has a lot going for it. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: Comparing Destiny and Halo is comparing apples to oranges. Destiny is, for all intents and purposes, a first person MMO. Halo is not. The cosmetic aspect of destiny is such an infinitesimally small portion of the game that its so easy to overlook and not even need to concern yourself with.
But regardless of all of this, Destiny still allows you to go pretty hard on the cosmetics for a whopping ZERO dollars. Iron banner, raid gear, weekend exotics, shaders, transmog. They have a very in depth cosmetic system in the game as is, so when they introduce something new in the store, its easy to not even notice it. Compare that to Halo? Halo has given us the bare minimum for free. Colors. And we dont even get to choose what the primary and secondary colors are. Theyre just decided for us.

This isn’t Destiny 2. This is Halo Infinite. Also an emote is “better” than a decal or skin anyway.

The amount of free armor in destiny 2 is brilliant though.
Currently FTP players in infinite have 3 helmets to choose from (once they get to level 96 of the battle pass) plus the Yoroi core if they participated in the Tenrai event.
That’s it. The rest is stuck behind a paywall (premium pass for Mk V core and helmets or the $$ store)

A big difference though is that the armor in Destiny affects gameplay while in Infinite armor is purely cosmetic.
If you compare the prices of cosmetic armor in Destiny and the price of cosmetic armor in Infinite, they are actually pretty much the same.
I think getting multiple coatings, armor pieces, helmets, and emblems for 10 dollars and some effort is much better than getting a single set for the same price instantly. It’s probably the whole reason why a battle pass exists in Halo and why a season pass exists in Destiny.
For the free pass, of course it is going to be less. It’s a free game, and they can’t just give you all of that for free and expect the game to last 10 years. I do think that 20 dollars is a bit too much for a constant price, and I feel like just lowering it to 15 dollars would be better. Of course, there is a lot behind the decision of those prices, and I don’t know enough to really say much.
Sorry if this sounds aggressive, I’m just trying to get my point across.
you don’t ignore the lesser evil just because there is a greater evil somewhere else. “the multiplayer aspect of this game is free, and therefore you have no right to give feedback about scammer prices”. this is the stupidest argument i keep hearing. using your same logic: well the game is free, so get over the enormous bugs and BS server issues. stop boot licking, they don’t care about you. people are allowed to give feedback about terrible in-game decisions. we are consumers.

That’s a good point. I wonder if halo players would be ok with paying for occasional campaign dkc like the destiny beyond light expansion
