It Would Be Better To Spawn With An Equipped Item

I really miss having the thruster all of the time from Halo 5 and I find myself hitting B all the time during intense firefights. What is really frustrating about infinite is that I can never find it. I find that for about 60% to 75% of the game I have no item and therefore I have a button on my controller that is going to waste most of the time. Why not allow the player to equip an item to spawn with and then if they want to change the item during the game they will just have to find something new on the map like they do now.

Nah I think it’s pretty good how it is, memorizing equipment spawns feels like a core part of gameplay in Infinite just like it was in Halo 3, I’d rather not have people all spawn in with grapple-shots for example as you’re giving people a baseline ability to get away from fights & that was a big complaint with Halo 5.

Well I loved Halo 5 so theres that lol. I thought the thruster added a nice dynamic to fights. I think the same would happen if everyone could spawn with an item.

Trouble is, you’re asking for meta spawns to be a thing. If you have everyone spawn with an equipment item, you know that most players would go for the most broken one there is.

Which, given this game, would be the grappleshot. Or overshields. Or active camo.

Thrusters as equipment is better in my opinion.

It doesn’t ruin the tradition of Halo by making it as an equipment item, but also doesn’t ruin the abilities people like from Halo 5 so it acts as a neutral spot for all Halo fans.

I don’t think thrust adds a positive dynamic to fights if people just use it for strafing and running constantly the entire match. In Halo Infinite, you can still use it to strafe or run, but only on case by case situations and you can’t use it as a “get out of jail free card” in every play so you have to use it wisely.t

It isn’t spawned to the point where it is rarely in the match but isn’t spawned quick enough so it is constantly used the entire match by every player. It balances out in my opinion and I wouldn’t force it.

I feel your pain, but disagree with equipment spawns. That’s how we end up in a Reach/4 loadout situation.

I’m not a huge fan of the equipment model mostly because the Halo equipment sandbox has never been very strong. And it’s weird to me when the movement/ability playground is uneven, as it is now.

But do as I do and memorize/prioritize thruster spawns. It’s fairly easy to keep them equipped (when available). It is a little lopsided/boring when your opponent doesn’t have it, but that’s their problem I guess.

Gonna give a hard “no” to that.
Even Reach’s equipment system was annoying, and those abilities weren’t even that useful aside from sprint or armor lock.

These abilities significantly augment match-flow. Imagine if everyone started with thrusters or grapple hooks, it’d be nothing but melee cheesing with the occasional gunfight.
The days of Halo 4 and 5 are over. This new era of Halo appeals to most of the old fans like myself and the wider FPS market as a whole.

What they are doing is trying to appeal to the masses instead of the Halo fanbase. Music industry did the same thing and you see how that turned out for Country music and Rock and Roll… I wan’t Halo, not COD advanced Warfare with Halo skins. I’m also upset that the pistol scope is gone because that is such a trademark Halo weapon. Also, Where is the Covenant Carbine, SMG, Plasma Rifle, and all of the other classic Halo weapons that are missing?

Well, yes, because this is meant to be a restart of sorts for Halo. But that’s beside the point. If you look at Halo 5, the Magnum doesn’t have a scope, it’s technically aiming down its sights. And Advanced Warfare, seriously?

Infinite doesn’t have super powerful jetpacks.

As for “missing” classic weapons, they probably decided to simplify the sandbox because by Halo 5, there was an insane amount of guns. So Infinite is back to basics, in a funny way.

Halo 5 would be more Advanced Warfare than Infinite by your logic because we all had those “Spartan Abilities.” And funnily enough, some people say that Advanced Warfare was more Halo than Call of Duty.

You’re just annoyed because Infinite is not “your” Halo.

Obviously I don’t think that they should buff this pistol with it’s current rate of fire, that would break it. Honestly they wouldn’t even need to buff it at all, just keep it as is and bring back the scope or at least aim down the sights like you said. Or slow it down some and buff it, but I think it definitely needs work.

Advanced warfare was COD trying to be like Halo, Infinite is Halo trying to be more like COD, so I think it’s a fitting metaphor.

I mean the VK47 Commando in Infinite is pulled straight out of COD and given a different name lol.

I’ve actually been playing quite well. I go most 4 v 4 slayer games with around 12 kills and 3 deaths on average. So I’m not angry because I’m not playing well, I’m angry because it doesn’t feel like Halo to me.

I’m 30 years old, I’ve been playing Halo since 2001 when I was 10. So I’ve been playing Halo for 20 years, about as long as many of the people in this forum have been alive. So when I say, for the first time in 20 years of playing these games, that this Halo doesn’t feel like Halo to me I think that means a little more than “im just annoyed because infinite is not my Halo”.

I think Reach had the best multiplayer in terms of keeping it classic but also adding new features, weapons, and maps. Infinite just feels like it is trying too hard to attract non-Halo fans.

I actually think you’d be able to leave ttk where it is if you gave players 1 thruster charge per spawn. Maybe take a grenade away to compensate.

No one else agrees but I think that’s a solid fix to the boring meta we have now
