good way to end the reclaimer trilogy is for at the end of halo 6 chief to wake up on the forward unto dawn for real this time and tell cortana about the nightmare that was halo 4-6, I just fixed the halo universe

i liked halo 4’s campaign too but halo 5’s campaign was like you said a disaster

H4’s campaign was fine IMO. It had elements that I would have liked to explore further. H5 was disappointing to say the least I’ve been pretty vocal about my opinion on it. However, I feel if an author writes themselves into trouble, they or another author needs to write them out of it. Retcons (Particularly over-used cliché ridden ones like you suggest) don’t tend to help things.

Nah, I think Chief will wake up as a Flood and then he’ll reflect on his last memories which will be you playing the campaign leading up to that point. During that time, you’ll discover that he volunteered as the only way to defeat Cortana with the help of Gravemind, but he secretly did it to also destroy the Gravemind from the inside out with his mind. In H7, Chief can’t change back, but the new power overwelms him and he morphs the Flood into an army of Flood Spartans to rule the galaxy. /s

I like the theory. It’s crazy yet possible 
Here’s my theory of how it will end:
So I predict that our hero, the Master Chief, will be killed in battle by Cortana and the last mission will be us playing as Locke to kill Cortana. Not only that but Locke will put on Master Chief’s armor and carry on his name. (Master Chief is a very popular public hero so the UNSC or Oni or whoever will want to keep that kind of hope alive) So Locke will be the new Chief.
I hate Locke, but it seems that 343i wants us to love him so that is how I came up with this theory

John: I’m here, but I just had the craziest dream
Cortana: Tell me about it later, but we’re drifting towards a shield world and the Covies are back
