I don’t care about cosmetics overall. My main complaint is how being F2P and the monetization push is hurting the rest of the games experience.

For one, the focus on Challenges to get EXP means that many (if not, most) players are ignoring objectives and team-based play in favor of challenge hunting.

Cheating is rampant for one thing. Hard to slow it down when the cheater can just make a fresh account.
Then there’s the focus on monetization. A single playlist intentionally designed to push people to do challenges and buy challenge swaps causing players to do anything but legitimately play the game as they ignore everything and focus on doing only their challenges.
Challenge system also leads to players that wont spend money on swaps and don’t have any from the battlepass so they just quit matches until they get their soft ban for 15 minutes or they get the gametype they want. I’ve lost count of how many quick play matches I’ve had the past week where there’s more bots than players because people keep leaving matches.
I could go one for awhile why F2P is a garbage formula and why Halo does it even worse than other games.

Cheaters are definitely a problem in lots of F2P games, and even with devs that are actively trying to stop cheaters, they’ll always come back with better, undetectable hacks. The only way to discourage that is by locking the multiplayer behind a paywall (by which, I mean charging the base $60 for the campaign + multiplayer like they’ve done before).
If it was a paid game, hackers would be less motivated to pay X amount of money per copy of the game after the 1st time they got banned for cheating.

I payed for the battlepass but won’t buy the campaign till the price comes down to the point it equals a normal price for both.

cheating isn’t even relevant to the topic. That’s everywhere…in every game btw. There’s absolutely no pay to win features in the store so that issue is null and void.
