It should tom salta for halo 5!! (Interview)

How did you prepare for creating the score for Halo: Spartan Assault?

Paul Lipson, showed me early footage of the game and described the various levels and the storyline. Then I started composing a variety of ideas to see what kind of music we felt worked best in context.

How was creating a score for Halo: Spartan Assault different from your other projects?

The sound of Halo is like sacred ground for me and I have the highest respect for what the original composers created. You could probably classify me as a Halo fanatic.

My goal in scoring Halo: Spartan Assault was to respect the legacy of what makes Halo music sound like Halo music, while at the same time creating something fresh and new that would resonate with Halo fans around the world.

What kind of music influences or inspiration did you draw from when creating the score for Halo: Spartan Assault?

I definitely drew inspiration from the previous scores. But rather than trying to imitate it, I focused on those places where I personally connected with the original scores; the places that I remember the music making a huge impact on me when I played the original games.

They need more guys like this on their team.

Wait a second… Something’s not right here…

Actually I would hold-back on the desire to drop Davidge, because it was his dream to compose music for Halo since CE came out… And it kind of makes me feel bad for him if he were to be replaced.

Oh God, I love Tom Salta’s OST!

Serious?!

Well I guess the 343i directors are partly to blame for the direction the music took… they achieved Halo then dropped it…
