It’s way too easy to rank up in the Battle Pass

I’m really starting to feel they made it far too easy to rank up. A person doing 30 minutes of bot matches a day can rank up once per day. Meaning it only takes 100 days with fairly minimal effort to rank up, assuming you use none of the XP boosts and complete no weekly challenges. Considering the BP is meant to last 160 days this is seriously too fast.

I’m already consistently running across people (as in there’s almost always one on my team) wearing items from tier 70+ With many already having completed the whole thing. The BP still has 4 months to go and many people are already done with it.

Pretty soon a lot of people are going to get super bored because they finished the BP with a lot of time to spare. I feel they really should rework this system, it’s far too easy to rank up.

There’s no justification for arbitrary increase on the amount of hours played required to unlock everything.

Either add more content or make the grind even less. 50 hours is plenty but the BP takes around 100-200 hours in this state

If players need a carrot on the stick find another way and path than inflating DLC like a balloon :balloon:

We should be screaming for quality content not worrying about forcing people to grind longer.

This is what happens when a company listen to the community too much. Because while they often know what’s good for them, they don’t always. I’ve been lvl 100 for a couple days now. I lvl’d up 10 lvls on tuesday with 2 double xps. And the new challenges are boring and pointless.

It was done to appeal to the casual players, mostly. The weeklies, combined with XP boosts, can bump you up as much as 7 levels on a good day.

I mean, you have to account for the people who don’t play this game every day. I think the main problem is that the length of the season is just too long.

The best way to fix it, in my opinion, is adding in rewards after level 100, like challenge swaps and Credits.

I feel like it’s a dual edged sword. Because customization is so minimal if you don’t rank up far in the battle pass people get frustrated if it takes too long to rank up, but at the same time all the points you mentioned are valid. So if they increase the time to complete, then people will be frustrated it takes too long to earn customization options, and if you keep it as is people will be frustrated there is nothing left to do. That’s why I think there needs to be an alternative.

One idea I had was to let people complete the pass again, simply to earn challenge swaps and double XP. The double XP they could save for the next pass, and the challenge swaps they could use for Weekly ultimates. Alternatively, they add in a ranking system like Reach, but I feel that would probably be harder to implement.

You can easily beat the BP in under 50 hours if you’re just doing bot matches. My data backs this up

Which if we assume you can also earn about 5 levels in that same time a week doing weekly challenge, puts the battle pass at just under 9 weeks to complete, or about 2 months. That does seem a little short for a sixth month pass.

Though, if we consider this rate of progression for the 3 month seasons it doesn’t sound so bad. It’ll give the people playing casually just a little breathing room if they want to complete passes in 3 months but can’t play too many hours a day.

Literally refer to the original post. 30 minutes for bot matches should net you 6 matches on average. I’m literally doing it right now and I’m on track for that.

30 minutes X 100 days =50 hours.

Now if we’re talking 6 bot matches of CTF on Aquarius, then it’s more like 10 minutes to complete 6 matches

I’ve actually found Aquarius to be potentially the best map for CTF. If you know the trick you can throw the flag up the front of the platform that you otherwise can’t get to allowing for a super fast capture.

Of course assuming you get a teammate that knows about that is pretty slim

I mean it doesn’t really matter if it’s not the intended way to play, what matters is that it IS the way people are playing. So people can rank up way faster than they should with almost no effort

I’m liking their posts, because I browsing the forums while I wait for my hair to dry, and I agree with them.

Anyways, I don’t think they misunderstand necessarily. Even if that’s not the baseline, it highlights it can be done that quickly. And without bot matches it might take twice as long, but not in days, only hours. You can easily complete the daily challenges in an hour, unless you’re only playing big team, which isn’t even working. So with just an hour a day, and assuming you’re doing weekly challenges too, you’ll complete the battle pass long before the 160 days are up.

Why so mad? Can people not have a friendly disagreement? So you think it’s fine as it is. Other people don’t. That’s not a big deal is it? Anyways, I am enjoying the game. Hope you are too. I think despite the kinks 343 really did a good job with this one.

Gotta agree. I’m seriously loving the game, campaign especially!

What do you mean far too easy? Ranking up is a pain in the -Yoink!-.

I mean just read the post lmao.

You can do 1 rank up a day in just 30 minutes of bot matches which are pretty easy. That isn’t including weekly challenges or XP bonuses which you also get in the battlepass. Like in the 6 matches I did today I ran across 5 players with flaming shoulders, do you know what BP tier you need for that? 85. Do you know how much time for the BP has passed? Like 1/5.

People are nearly done after only 1/5 of the time available. Yeah it’s seriously easy.

Edit: please keep in mind I said that it CAN be that easy, not that it IS that easy for every game mode. My point is you can do it super easy.

Ranking up once a day is a pain in the -Yoink!-. That’s not my ideal multiplayer experience at all.

I can’t sit through bot matches and slay out while getting nothing in return. Granted this is not only true for bot matches but actual pvp as well.

Some games I slay out at the top of the leaderboard and seeing 50xp takes the wind out of my sails.

Halo 5 had better progression than this.

There are two separate things going on here that are unfortunately tied together and at odds with each other 1) Time to complete the pass, and 2) players feeling rewarded for their time investment.
Right now item 2 is about right for most players (I think it might be slightly faster than necessary).
The pacing of the pass (item 1) was actually pretty good initially, but the problem was the content of the pass left almost everyone wanting.
So now 343 needs to figure it how to keep players feeling rewarded after most have finished the pass.

It seems like a problem with no elegant solution. Except maybe lowering the amount of XP gained on average but making it skill based or something. Idk, just hoping for a solution.
