It’s apparent we need a xp rank system at launch

Sorry to hit people with this but the “complex and intricate” leveling system of the battle pass really is not great… at all. It feels punishing and is blatantly unrewarding.

Why does the daily match completion challenge increase in games needed to accomplish but the xp payout remain the same? Players who commit time to the game should be rewarded with a fair xp payout. It’s quite obvious that this challenge in particular was put in not only to try to ensure players don’t grind through the battlepass too fast (because there is absolutely nothing to do after you max it out) but also to ensure that dedicated players can’t get too high of a level compared to more casual players. I didn’t realize until now that Halo was going to be adding the most loathed “catch up” features from games like Destiny and WoW.

Why is player progression being removed from the game? Why isn’t there a leveling system where you can’t pay to reach max rank? I’ve yet to hear an actual intellectual reason for this. It’s regression, and too many people seem to be complacent with it.

And before people come into the comments and say “play for fun” what if that is your fun? Grinding is (likenit or not) what a majority of the gaming communities multiplayer player base does.

Honestly, what are we going to do after we hit tier 100, stop playing? Doing the menial challenges for the battlepass is just trash. They aren’t even hard and they are just annoying to do.

To all the role players and custom game players out there, how would you feel if 343 told you how to play and set strict rules on how to play. It would suck. People need to realize that this system needs to be in the game.

really, how hard is it to copy and paste the reach leveling system into the game? Is it hard because there’s going to be almost no free multiplayer content at all? Stop saying the “free content” in halo’s battlepass is better than others games. First it isn’t, and second why are you comparing a Ferrari to a Fiat.

Tell me this is a better system than halo reach with a straight face. You can’t! And if you do you forgot to take off your clown makeup.

The challenge system is fine(ish)… until you aren’t actually getting exp for playing every game. It’s such a simple psychological thing, and idk why 343 decided against using a normal rank system. It makes peoples brains feel good to see the number go up, and to see the rank icon change. This has been a well known and enjoyed thing for literal decades now, and it is undeniably odd that Infinite will not have a normal xp rank system at launch.

We know why 343i did it: to encourage you to buy challenge swaps.

Assuming that is true, it’s just silly. They easily could have made more by selling double exp packs if the game had a normal rank system.

I finished the battle pass with little effort, and waved it goodbye as I continued on to my next match.

I ain’t ever going to sink money into this; I’m not the target audience. It’s just something in the background that gives me stuff as I play. Is it convoluted? Sure. But that’s why I mostly ignore it. Which is their problem, not mine.

I’m still unsure why y’all want me to care so much about this thing. My guns still shoot, so what’s the problem again?

They would make more money long term through selling skins too. Player retention is the most effective way to get players to spend money. Players are going to leave after the battlepass. A regular xp system entices them to stay. Just makes zero sense to me. Multiplayer feels so hollow and soulless in its current state. I genuinely can’t believe that Splitgate currently has a better leveling system. It’s sad!

“because there is absolutely nothing to do after you max it out”

This is where I go all ‘old man Jenkins’ and lament about “kids these days”. There’s nothing to do after you max it out? What about playing the game? Don’t you play the game for fun? I don’t understand why people are so obsessed with making a meaningless progress bar increase forever and unlock a million minor cosmetic things which you can’t possibly all make use of. The game itself should be fun.

This is not directed at the OP. I realize that all multiplayer games have this these days and I’m in the minority, but I just really don’t get it. When Call of Duty (I think it was the first one, but I’m not sure) introduced the concept of “regeneration”, I was sort of dumbfounded. Like people crave the artificial sense of progress so much that it pleases them to reset the number and make the progress bars fill up again, for basically no reason.

Yeah, I know I’m out in a limb here. Get off my lawn and all that.

Halo Infinite progression system is better than reach I finally don’t have to save up millions of credits to get a single helmet!

If you want to spend all day grinding levels go play the ranked mode. They have already confirmed a rank leveling system for all ranked play and the social play there is no rank just how you wouldn’t get a rank from custom games. It makes perfect sense to me. I don’t know why people want to be forced into crazy grind fest when you could just play the game and not have to worry about a progress bar and falling behind if you don’t play for a week

I believe halo infinite is trying to change the industry definition of what it really means to play social and ranked modes. I’m happy they don’t have a level system for social it makes everyone more laid back and not worry about sweating and getting kills. If you want to show off a high level Spartan go 0lay ranked mode and display your onyx badge proudly! I will however just be running around social mostly with my recruit badge not having to worry about my next “promotion”

You don’t get it;

People are talking about the Reach Ranking System not the Armor Unlock System lol.
In Reach you were rewarded with cR/EXP depending on your own skill, how many Headshots you made, how many style-kills etc.
Infinite doesn’t have an Ranking at all in this category. Only an Ranked Playlist Rank System like Diamond, Gold, Silver etc. But people want to see how they started as a Recruit, becoming an Captain, Major, 5-Star-General.
That the season pass progression system is bs is clear.

Thats just disgusting. Why would I want to have some meaningless rank that just goes up with time and that new players sweat to max out in social mode. Usually you don’t rank up when you play custom games why would you need to rank up in social games?

Also did you even read my full post? I explained pretty clearly that the rank is meaningless for social games and how if you want to have a giant progress bar to fill up go play ranked and show off your badge.

Progression ranks are for ranked mode! Social games are for fun!
