It pays to buy 34 gold packs ?
Have to be more specific… What do you mean it pays? No you don’t get paid… 343 does… You get paid so to speak in unlocking a lot of stuff all at once or a lot of req points refunded if you have everything unlocked.
Are you trying to ask what happens when you buy 343 gold packs? The interwebs break.
“Pays” in terms of unlocks, it depends. You get rarer stuff in Gold Packs, but it’s still RNG.
You have a chance to get some really cool looking armor, like Helioskrill. You also have a chance to get something like the DMR unlock or Certs (for someone like me, who won’t touch Warzone, it’s useless).
So it depends. It might be better if you’ve gotten everything you can out of Silver Packs before buying 34 gold packs, thus increasing your chance of getting stuff like Helioskrill or Indomitable.
It’s all RNG.
I think I understand what you mean OP.
When buying the 34 pack of Gold REQ packs you get an additional 13 packs for free. The 34 pack normally costs $99.99 in the store, but it is currently discounted at $54.99 for the next 7 days. If you’re looking to buy some packs, right now is probably a good time to do so. Wish I had some spare funds, I’d probably buy some to give away during HCS next month
Thank you very much for the advice
Only if you buy them with RP. Otherwise, you’ll be missing a lot of real life money that you could have invested into something tangible and valuable such as treating a loved one to dinner, donating it to charity, or saving it for retirement, and you’ll just end up with some virtual video game loot that won’t benefit you at all in the grand scheme of things. Ten years down the line, Halo 5 will be nothing more than a vague, distant memory and you’ll be wishing you had that money back.
Muchas gracias por el consejo

Yeah. If you get 343 gold packs at once, HaloWayPoint breaks. It’s just the golden rule of Halo 5.
I don’t recommend buying gold packs with real money untill you have finished the silver level packs. Otherwise you can, and more likely will, get silver level unlocks in your gold packs. But it is truly best to just keep grinding out points for packs.
I was at Target today and was really thinking about buying Halo 5 Guardians, put it in cart, was ready to check out. While waiting at the line, I looked up the game, and found several posts on these forums about people complaining that one of the game modes (Warzone) can be considered somewhat pay to win (ish) – or at least pay for an advantage. I read a lot of arguments on both sides, but honestly what surprised me is that the arguments were Yes/No on pay to win, but very few people brought up the fact that we are now arguing about microtransactions having a direct effect in game play of a fully priced game. It looks like they already got us accepting this as normal then?
Call me old fashioned, but for me the problem is the fact that we can even have this debate in the first place. There should be ZERO question, zero doubt that a BUY TO PLAY game, a full priced retail game, is NOT IN ANY WAY (in no game mode) even a little pay to win. Microtransactions have no place in full priced games, and if they are there, they should at most be entirely cosmetic. I’m old enough to remember a time when a stat boosting or advantage granting cash shop item in a FREE TO PLAY KOREAN mmorpg was controversial in the community forums. Now they got us accepting this stuff in full priced games? The fact that a debate can even be had tells me that 343 screwed this up. Its really too bad, as I was really looking to move on from Halo 3.

I’m sorry you feel that way. I suppose it is unfortunate that the gaming industry used the ‘foot in the door’ technique on us gamers with such efficiency. At the same time, though, a good portion of the proceeds from REQ packs went to the HCS prize pool. You may not be into competitive Halo, but at least it was Halo players supporting Halo players.
Personally, I find REQ packs and Blitz packs in Halo Wars 2 to be miniscule in the grand scheme of things. Both are contained in game modes separate from the “main game” and one can spend their entire Halo career being unaffected by MTX.
I totally get being turned off by any kind of MTX. But Halo 5 is a solid game, so don’t hesitate to give it a shot. If you decide to do so feel free to send me a friend request and we can hit up some games.

You could have played it this weekend for free to see firsthand what it looks like for yourself. In my experience it is not pay to win. Warzone and Arena are separate, which gives you the ability to earn tons of Req points (virtual credits used to buy the same packs that people pay cash for). There are so many giveaway packs that you get, and you can sell half of the cards and gain even more money while just stockpiling the best cards for warzone. You just need to manage things properly and it largely mitigates purchased advantages. Not to mention that many WZ games do not progress to the highest levels. That also limits the usefulness of the ultra high end stuff.
To me, people who buy packs are just wasting their money. They don’t inconvenience me though. I get the same stuff they do - for free.

Nope you pay to buy 34 gold packs. I would recommend not paying and just grinding. Although I would be a bit of a hypocrite there I think I spent a little money on some of the “exclusive” or “Limited offer” packs. Don’t think it was really worth it though.

When I like and enjoy a game, I normally buy $10-$20 worth of additional dlc. If I love what they’re doing, I have to vote with my wallet, and encourage them to keep doing it!
Wouldn’t spend a dime on any of it. It’s quite said this is what Halo has turned into.
why pay for these packs?
if you grind like most of us do.
The return is similar and the best part is that you will get better with the game itself.

Nothing wrong with that. I purchased the Voices of War pack and it was more than worth every penny. But 34 gold packs is on another level

This^ I don’t like spending real money on games inside unless it’s a couple bucks but $60.00 and it’s all random I’d spend my money on better things OP
