It it the MA5K carbine?

Is the Halo 5 beta weapon the MA5K from Halo ghost of Onyx?

Only time will tell, but I hope so.

We an only hope so

There’s some doubts, such as its enormous clip size.

Very possible, but who knows, seeing how a CGI Beta trailer confirms nothing other than what is said in text.

I’d love to see the MA5K Carbine in Guardians, though.

Just seems like a scopeless BR to me. And i will treat it as such until 343i state otherwise.

Even though a scopeless BR makes no sense personally, I’m adopting the same wait & see approach.

I really hope so as I dont think I can take weapon attachments in halo unless its just cosmetic, plus something with a 70 round magazine must be a rapid-fire full auto weapon like the MA5K right ?

I hope it is the staple weapon for halo 5, the one everyone starts off with (I really hope there aren’t any loadouts in H5)

It looks like the MA5K, yet the MA5K had a 30 round magazine while this seems to have a 72 round magazine. However, the 72 round display may actually be a measure of how many rounds are in the entire weapon, rather than a single magazine - indicating that this may, for some reason, be a scopeless BR - a weapon that has a starting ammo capacity of 72 rounds.

More than likely a scopeless BR. The point of a carbine is that it is easier to maneuver in small spaces than a full-on rifle. That thing is nearly as long as a BR or AR, and would give no such advantage in close quarters.

This is an MA5K.

What you are looking at is the Halo 4 BR without a scope and an extended magazine. If you think it is the MA5K, then you might be beyond help.

That is a fan-created object for Halo: Custom Edition on PC. Also, using such language like “If you think [x], then you might be beyond help” is kind of antagonistic and offensive.

I don’t think so. I can only imagine it must have something to do either with a specific game mode, or customization options.

Frank O’Connor mentioned that the video was representative of a specific game mode, and was using in-game assets (obviously not running in real-time but still pretty impressive)
which seems to confirm that there are scope-less BR models in-game at some point. I’m really curious as to why.

The fan created rifle is based off the image in Ghosts of Onyx, and it’s near exact.

Indeed it is, to a point, but near exact isn’t accurate enough when you’re comparing a fan’s unofficial interpretation and the actual, official fictional object. Not to mention that elements in the Halo universe rarely take the same form from one source to the next, especially for something that was mentioned once eight years ago.

Halo 3
Halo 4
Appearance=nothing.

> Halo 3
> Halo 4
> Appearance=nothing.

It takes little common sense to see that the Halo 3 BR, and Halo 4 BR are exactly the same weapon. It takes hardly any more common sense to see that the Halo 4 BR, and the weapon in the CGI trailer, is more or less exactly the same, with the only exception being, it has no scope, and the magazine is bigger.

As others have pointed out, the weapon in Halo PC, and the MA5K Carbine in Ghosts of Onyx are exactly the same. The similarities between both weapon appearances are what make it recognisable. The CGI weapon, has enough similarities to the Halo 4 BR, to make it identifiable, as a BR without a scope.

Lets look at it from a different angle, shall we?

More angles.

H4 BR.

They appear to be nearly identical weapons. There are a few cosmetic changes to the stock and receiver, but the scope mount, barrel length, and forestock are identical to the H4 BR.

It could be a re-imagined version of the MA5K. It could be a scopeless BR. It could be something else entirely.

I kind of doubt it’s the MA5K, though. The whole point of a carbine is a shorter weapon length to make it easier to use in close quarters. This weapon is the same length as a BR . . . which means it doesn’t qualify as a carbine.
