The irony about this is if 343 made more realistic female figures (not sure if canonical for a Spartan), game journalists would have bashed them for sexualizing their female characters. It’s a plague that’s been in the American industry for years if not decades.
Seems like you have difficulty with reading comprehension my friend. Thats ok though don’t feel bad, we all struggle with one thing or another.
Well the fun thing about it is, that’s your opinion it didn’t need to be stated. That’s how opinions work.
And OP stated they don’t care about the story or gameplay in Destiny specifically, you’re making assumption it holds true for Halo as well. Which further exemplifies that you miss the point that people enjoy different things about different games.
But yet again you gravitate back towards the gender aspect, which made up the vast majority of your reply. Honestly, you just come off as being incredibly uncomfortable with the idea. I don’t really care about whether or not they include a gender selection, doesn’t change how I feel about the game. But I’m curious why you do? Is there a specific way it will impact your ability to enjoy the game?
No, not at all. I do have a problem with the ones who come off as self centered. 343i clearly didn’t give a gender option for a reason. Whatever reason that is it, it is THEIR reason. It’s their game, it’s their story. They can take ideas and suggestions from the community and implement them if they like to but, they shouldn’t have to add a feature to cater to a certain crowd or group.
I agree.
For me it’s different though, there was no revelation, it’s purely about missing features. Features that have existed for at least 12 years, back from when i was playing Reach.
Customisation has been part of Halo for over a decade, over several games. A big part of the progression has been ripped out and clumsily monetised. And we’ve been given 3 lazy body options that make no real difference to your Spartan’s silhouette. Im assuming so they don’t have to adjust the armour.
Personally i don’t need 3 different builds of either s3x (thats a banned word? Lol), but one that is obviously male and another that is obviously female.
So your take is that it doesn’t need to be pointed out that everyone has different opinions, but no one should ever voice those opinions in a forum that is designed to do specifically that?
No, not at all. Everybody can voice their opinion. Opinions are like but holes, everybody has one just some are filled with more crap. I don’t think OP is voicing an option, though. Trying to make a statement I guess you could say? In a nutshell. OP doesn’t care if the game ever gets fixed, doesn’t care about game play, doesn’t care about multiplayer or any aspects of the game whatsoever. He only cares that he can pick female as his gender. Sorry, that doesn’t hold any value to me.
Your ability to completely miss the whole point of this thread is truly awe inspiring…
it’s not that I miss the point, I don’t agree with it.
Since you seem to have genuinely misunderstood my point, I’ll use your reply to post a clarification.
Some people play every game for the same reason, others have different reasons for each game. I play Halo primarily for its universe, I play Quake exclusively for its gameplay. We’re all different, and we as a community should be willing to accept that what’s irrelevant to us is very relevant to someone else.
In short, 343 Industries having bigger issues to focus on shouldn’t justify xXAssassinNinja69Xx saying, “You want a better progression system at some point in the future? Ugh! Who cares?!”
Well the point was that people enjoy different aspects, and by previously stating something holds no value to you is just enforcing that because it does hold value to OP.
Though I expect the point you don’t agree with and are referring to is that OP should be able to select gender. Which, again, wasn’t the overall point. Thus indicating you did in fact miss it.
Ture, but guess what? Gender isn’t an option in Halo. So if you enjoy playing as a labeled female character, that aspect isn’t part of Halo so move on to something else.
I don’t care there isn’t an option for gender in Halo, or any game for that matter. I played and loved Hellblade but I’m not complaining about not being able to pick a male character. A game that needs some bugs fixed and a game that “should” have a feature or features to cater to you are completely different things.
This is getting painful to watch. Please stop wasting your time with this person.
So you freely admit you did miss the point and the only reason you’re here is because you have some deep seeded insecure feelings about someone else thinking the ability to choose gender would be a good addition?
Well if that’s the case I’ll ask again, if that was ever implemented, how would it affect your ability to enjoy the game at all?
Both your comments seem to miss the point OP made entirely.
Also while I agree that I dont prioritise the gender representation issue personally and see it as a less important thing to worry about.
The point is people have different opinions and people should respect that.
I’d much rather see more map diversity and gameplay fixes but some people want to feel represented in the games they play particularly when the character they are playing is intended to be a self insert for them into the universe.
Its also lots easier not to care when we are the demographic that are always catered to in that regard.
Its as valid as the elite community wanting to play as elites or the blue team fans that want them back or any other request within the fanbase.
If you do not actually care about these peoples wants then simply ignore them theres no need to dismiss them by directly verbalising it. Simply not engaging achieves the same without being disrespectful to people who are just as entitled to their opinion.
You in your own response said “the world doesn’t revolve around you” so no need to insert yourself into discourse just be negative towards someone. Particularly when you misunderstood or misread their statement to begin with. Energy is better spent on providing positive discourse on topics that you do see as having merit.
No1 asked for gameplay to suffer they only said that people enjoy different things for different reasons and have preferences or wishes that reflect that innate individualism.
We saw this even on the topic of gameplay specifmany times.
Many for example would say infinite ruined the gameplay of halo 5.
Or that sprint improves the gameplay or dual wield should return.
So there you’d have an example of people asking for something that actually directly makes gameplay worse(or better) in a literal sense. But even then its just a subjective opinion on an experiential qualia.
The fact is op said that people should be entitle to ask for things they value without being attacked for their opinions on what the game needs, you’re insistence that this somehow was a request they specifically should be catered to and that they are “focused on the wrong things” is far more inline with the “main character” mind set you so quickly pointed out as a negative behavior in OP.
“mutilating” ? Seriously?
Just in case you missed this in Science class:
Do you have any idea how many “transgender” species there are on Earth right now?
Do you think they are “mutilating themself”?
As I said, I don’t agree with the point. It holds no value here. There is NO gender option, so people just need to get over it. The point is clear, everybody has an opinion and should be able to voice it, which I never said I don’t agree with. It’s not hard to miss, doesn’t mean I need to AGREE to this particular opinion.
So, in short, you can’t specify any reason why you disagree with it? Just that you do and hyper focused on this one aspect of the original post, which wasn’t even the main purpose?
Great argument.
Answered that plenty of times, guess you missed that.
2022 and we’re still treating each other like less than humans. Sad times.
