Whether it’s progression, cosmetics, or gender selection, it evidently is important to people even if you aren’t one of them. Open your mind to the many people on these forums and elsewhere playing for different reasons than you.
For example, I play Destiny as it was my “trans awakening game”. I couldn’t care less about its mindless gameplay or what could potentially be called a story. I play it exclusively for the feelings of peace and happiness it brings. That’s what makes it important.
Some of the more staunch opponents of adding more body types should see this. The goal is to give more options to everyone. Nobody wants to take anything away. There’s grounds for compromise that’s being neglected which is very unfortunate.
Well to be fair D1 didn’t have much of a story to begin with. A lot of the people that stuck around for the long haul had to latch to something to keep with it.
Just keep in mind some things take precedence over others. I’d wager progression and even cosmetics are a far higher priority to make the game better than it is for gender select features, at least in Halo’s case.
While I’m inclined to agree there is certainly a large portion of the female community that feel they need better female representation going off of the discourse ive seen/heard be it here, irl or elsewhere online.
I think its fair to say the female population’s support is something 343i values.
@Nohr_Tenko I agree.
Why add useless customization options when the actual game is buggy and people have lots of complaints about it?
Their priorities just dont make any sense at all!
OP already said he doesn’t care about gameplay or story line. It’s important to him to be able to controller a female character in a digital world. So he doesn’t care if they fix the broken aspects of the game, he just wants them to cater to him so he can pick a female character.
Well it was definitely out of context because you took the statement and provided no context just an assumption of the ops intent despite the comment not providing anything to infer said assumption.
The post in its entirety would appear to just suggest we not dismiss other community member’s request as “not important” and be more respectful as we all have differing reasons for playing.
Then they provided a piece of innocuous anecdotal evidence to exemplify their point.
In reality you are the one who is attempting to create another gender thread.
Funny meme sure, but it doesn’t really do anything for your point.
OP is right there plenty of different sub communities all have valid critiques that deserve to be recognised.
Personally I’m still unhappy with campaign for example.
But like @Nohr_Tenko rightly said there are larger communities and issues that take précédent.
I just don’t understand why something like this has to be important in a video game. Even the people arguing that it’s not specifically male and female bodies are just ridiculous. People are focused on the wrong things when it comes to gaming. I’m he/him but don’t need my -Yoink!- swinging around in game to prove that to anybody when I’m killing them in multiplayer. Halo multiplayer has always been expressing yourself, but you can do that without any kind of label.
I thought we were trying to get away from labeling/profiling things these days anyway?
Not that its the same as a gender swap, but you can change your spartans physical size a bit, and their voice under player id I believe. There are male and female voice options, you just have to listen to them to see which one you like.
Member’s request? Maybe a suggestion but I wouldn’t go as far as requesting it. Like I said, OP already said he doesn’t care about gameplay or story. He should just go and play the Sims. Why pick Halo?
I’m also not a huge fan about your comment about not caring about gameplay or story as long as YOU get to express yourself. The thing is, the world doesn’t revolve around you. No matter how much you want to think it does.
To have the mindset that the gameplay can suffer for the majority of people who only care about how good the gameplay is just because you want a way to express the fact that you’re trans in game is just self centered and selfish.
Has a very, “I’m the main character,” feeling to it, no?
Gotta agree with modod on this. OP was clearly trying to point that different aspects of specific games appeal to different people, then they proceeded to list one personal example.
The overall point of the post was that everyone has different opinions, you’re the one focusing in on just the gender aspect.
I don’t think a post like this was needed to voice this opinion or to point out everyone has different opinions, if you don’t know everyone has an opinion by now then I don’t know what to tell you.
OP clearly stated he doesn’t care about story or gameplay, so why pick Halo? Why zero in on Halo? Is it because Halo doesn’t have a gender slider? I mean really, why zero in on Halo about not having an option to pick gender? If OP is being true, and doesn’t care at all about the game and only wants to be able to pick a female character. Why not just move on once he finds out you can’t select gender? It’s not there, it’s not an option, you don’t care about gameplay, other games let you pick gender so why make a comment at all and not just move on?
