It has to be on Right Stick

Now that Smart Scope (ADS) is a thing I have to say one thing, it has to stay on RS. By moving zoom to LT it will drastically change the way that it will be used. ADS in “modern” games destroys combat fluidity. It forces you to stand mostly still while shooting at close range, instead of moving around. In Halo zoom has been used exclusively for longer range encounters, where standing still is a must to remain accurate, and this new ADS seems to be changing that. Look at this gameplay. They don’t use it as a zoom like it is used in classic halo, they use it just like it would be used games like CoD, Battlefield, Destiny (I know that referencing other games is a sin, but it had to be pointed out). By keeping the ADS/zoom located on the RS it will keep that classic feeling but still look modern and nice, a perfect compromise.

And if you hadn’t realized this yet, when people are ADS there is not bloom on the weapons, but there seems to be increased recoil. I like that way of balancing it a lot. It allows for people that have good control of the weapon to more dominant at longer ranges.

I prefer the zoom just like in H1/H2/H3, since reach the Zoom and aiming reticules have been a pain. I explain: most of the time like you say, if you make a ‘‘modern shooting game’’ as you move your reticules move and your aim is reduce. But with Halo classics, the fact that you need to be good with your straffe makes a huge difference on games and that’s what makes Halo so poppular and fun to play.

If you want my opinion, i would keep a classic reticules and zoom.

It’s there for the cod kids, helps them adapt out of their natural habitat. But fear not good sir, there are other controller layouts.

Though why they would make it left trigger by default is a tad baffling.

I agree, im guessing some people won’t have the brain power to find out they can change it.

I agree with you. If you put Smart scope on LT people will use it all the time. Change it to Right Stick. Please!! And make B crouch again. It feels right that way. And either throw Thruster away or throw it over to LB where it belongs.

I have gotten too used to the “fishsticks” control scheme. Since most other FPS games also borrow from COD, its been burnt into my muscle memory. But, I do hope they provide some classic control schemes for people such as yourslef, who want ADS on the right stick click.

IT DOESN’T REALLY MATTER. YOU CAN JUST DE-SCOPE PEOPLE. THEY AREN’T JUST GOING TO AIM THE WHOLE TIME LIKE IN COD.

rite i just made a post about this and says the analog stick must be pushed in like halo and not have to hold a button down like cod while using smart scope

I think they should make Recon default, but as long as it’s an option I don’t care

I’m honestly fine either way. They could just give us the ability to customize our controls one way or the other, and everyone’s happy. About that particular subject, anyway.

Please, just please stop referring to it as ADS. How are so many people here so consistently incorrect about this?

Smart Scope and ADS are aesthetically similar, but Smart Scope is not ADS and gameplay-wise it’s the same as zoom.

It’s the best of both worlds for newcomers and veterans.

Choose the recon control scheme. I’m guessing that the controls will be as close as possible to the originals.

I agree right stick click is the way to go for Halo, other games have used it too, I just cant think of one at the moment. We need to leave left trigger for grenades in order to keep the movement and combat fluid.

THIS^^^^^^ a thousand times. Some people are too ignorant to understand this… Let’s jump to conclusions first then realize how wrong we were later.

This video should put you at ease about the Smart Scope.

If you want, you can take my word for it, as there is a Recon layout in the game which puts Smart Scope on Right Stick. But if you don’t want to, the guy in this video can confirm it.

I agree completely that it should be on right stick. Otherwise people will just assume that it is supposed to be used like ADS is used in every other game when in reality it should only be used for mid-long rang encounters. I am sure that there will be a control scheme for both left trigger and right stick but the default should be right stick.

First of all. Calm Down. Bustin out the caps doesn’t really prove your point any better and it doesn’t make you look good. Second, you have a good point. I did not think of that. However if given the chance, I would take Halo 4’s control schemes over 5’s any day. It feels more natural for Halo style and play.

I realize that there will be controller layouts, I’m talking about how it will effect the way that people play the game. I will most definitely be using Recon.

This is exactly what I’m trying to say.
