Issues with Saved Game/Map Files in Custom Games

Since MCC is being updated again, I thought I’d start creating some feedback threads on here detailing issues I haven’t really seen other members of the community highlight or mention. While they might seem minute, they can actually be a serious nuisance.

So, without further ado, here is a list of issues I have found concerning saved game/map files on the MCC.

  • The first issue I would like to discuss is one where the MCC will occasionally fail to sync data. This failure to sync data leads to saved game/map files not appearing within the game, often scaring people into thinking that their maps and modes were wiped. This can also happen when loading the game offline, which makes it seem as though the files are stored online and not offline. The only way I know of to fix this issue is to hard reset the Xbox. - The second issue might be related to the first one, but essentially it is an issue where the game will try to load saved games and maps in Custom Games, displaying a spinning white loading circle, and will never stop loading. This makes it impossible to change the map or mode, and so far the only way to fix this is to keep restarting the game until the Custom Games lobby loads properly. - The third issue is more of a convenience issue rather than a technical one. There is a limit of 50 maps and 50 game modes across all five multiplayers. I’m hoping that the limit will be increased with the arrival of the Custom Game Browser, but I just wanted to make sure I mentioned this in the event the MCC team has not considered increasing this very low limit. Halo: Reach would allow 500 saved files, maybe even more. - There is no option to change the description of a saved map or gametype. - Some saved H2A modes (particularly CTF and Juggernaut) will have their player-made names and/or descriptions reverted to default after being played. - This one is by far the lowest in priority, but it would be great if we had a more organized Custom Games lobby that made it easier to find saved map/game files. One akin to Halo: Reach’s would be easy on the eyes and much less stressful to navigate.Thank you for taking the time to read this thread! If anyone has any other issues they’ve noticed, please describe them in the comments so I can add them to the list.

Has anybody else encountered these issues? I know at least two other people have.

Yes. I ran into issue #1 multiple times, and it scared me to death the first time it happened. I had a forge map that I worked on for MANY hours, and I thought it was lost. I had to turn off the Xbox One completely and unplug it before I got my map to load.

I also found another bad issue that I can’t save a map to a new name while I’m offline. I typically do this to save new versions of a forge map while I’m editing it. When I use “Save As” it doesn’t even prompt me for the new name. It just immediately saves a second copy of the map with the exact same name, so then I have 2 maps with the same name. Each time I use “Save As” I get another copy of the map with the same name. The only way I can tell them apart is from their save date/time. That’s beyond useless. The rename feature doesn’t work either. I’ve reported the issue many times, but they don’t seem to care:

That’s just sad because it would really be a great forge mode if things works right. I really like the new forge pieces. Too bad so many things don’t work right.

I get the same issues and also have to hard reset my console to fix them.

While it sucks that this is happening, though, I’m a little relieved that it’s a global issue. I hope the team sees this thread.
