Happy that this game still includes 4 player split screen online but with the “AGamertag killed BGamertag with a Headshot text” this text gets so long it can often cover your reticule
Grenades
Halo 2/3 Grenades were perfect, Reach has big melon grenades that are sometimes too powerful and then just a bit further away do a tiny bit of damage, they also bounce and fly through the air weird.
Is there no way to restore the Halo 2/3 physics for the grenades
Rank
There are too many social playlists (I know trueskill is used but it isnt used effectivley)
These result in a lot of blow out scores, quiting because the matchup isnt fair and rarely intense close matches from the Halo 2/3 days
People dont care about winning because they get the same credits anyway.
Arena now just uses wins to determine your rating which is good, it promotes team work.
The ranking you get from arena is barely visible and does not drive people to want to play to get a higher rank, the population is always really low.
The ranking from Halo 2 was the best, it wasnt easy to get a 50 so people were always playing to get a higher rank, close games and good matchups from trueskill.
It doesnt need to alter your military rank (You can only be a general from being level 50) that put people off because they could never get the highest rank. Keep it seperate and make a few ranked playlists for more intense matches.
The population in the arena is really low because it is a haven for cheaters. I agree they should do something with the ranking system, but until they completely keep the cheaters, aimbot, etc., out of the game…then a ranking system will never mean anything at all. How do you know how good a player really is, if the game companies allow people to use various cheats to get the upper hand? I want someone to create a program that I can download to block out aimbot and these cheaters. I have spent hours, ranking up the old fashioned way. When I max out my rank in Halo Reach, I will be able to look back and say, “Hey, you know what…I played the game fair and I didn’t have to use a cheat to be good.” I have played the game for a year now, and most people I talk to, don’t want to play in the arena because of all the ‘hocus pocus’ going on. If 343i wants to change the ranking system, fine. But they better do a better job of making sure it’s based on skill, not some hack or download. I honestly believe that before they revamp some entirely new ranking system, they should work on getting all of the bugs out of this game. I fully support 343i and future Halo games, but we seem to live in a society where cheating is being promoted. You know what made Halo and Halo 2 so good…the way the game played. A company can put out new map packs and special editions of games, but without the core game playing well and having routine updates to clean up all the quirks…all you have is more of a mess. I know that I tend to rant and rave a bit, but I have been a gamer for a long time…30 years to be exact. But let’s face it… we are the ones that buy the games, we are the ones that buy the toys and clothing. As customers, we deserve to have a game without cheating. People say you cant keep cheaters out, and maybe you cant keep 100% of them out. But don’t glorify cheating by posting websites on where to find the cheats. If you notice, there are only between 35,000 and 120,000 players online playing Reach throughout the day. As a Halo fan, that concerns me.
> I’ve played hundreds of games of Arena and never came across cheaters.

> I played a game of team swat with my 3 guests and got accused of using an aim bot.
I would say that for the most part I have not run across very many cheaters. There are a couple out there though. Many people acuse me of cheating or using an aim bot however I can assure you this is not true. The cheating I have run into is host booting and the rare, but does still exist, standby.
Many people don’t want ranked so that cheaters can’t prosper…well than they have won the fight. I would much rather have a ranking system with a few cheaters than not have one at all.
I would like to see Xbox Live step up against cheaters and permanently ban IP’s however I don’t think this will ever happen. I know it can be achieved because game battles does it. It is rather difficult to get around and the average person would have no chance at it.
