The Forerunner capital was hit by the Halo rings(twice technically) but the structure itself was never destroyed as as far as we know it must still be out there somewhere. How would you feel if we saw it appear in a game? What would it’s rediscovery mean for the modern Halo universe?
Sure it may have been damaged but so was the Ark and thats still out there.
If it’s still out there then the Janus Key will probably show us where to find it, along with everything else. I wonder what they would do with it? Treat it like the Citadel from Mass Effect?
Not only is it one of the most interesting Forerunner structures described through Greg Bear, it was also the site of one of the most impressive and impactful battles of the war.
Assuming the Forerunners didn’t directly go and clean everything up, it’s a graveyard.
There are almost a dozen Halos there, some of them shattered.
Now that I think about it, the Forerunners probably went in and destroyed the last rings.
But anyway, there are shattered Halos drifting around it, tons of ships and debris from the epic battle, and the Capital itself, decorated with the millions who were killed when Mendicant Bias fired the Halos there.
It’d be an incredible place to learn about the war in-game/in the future, as well as just be an awe-inspiring sight.
> Unless the Gravemind came back and broke it with a star road because he could. ;_;
I see no reason why he would bother. Any Forerunner threat in the system was destroyed after the battle and he had to focus his efforts where it mattered. I’d imagine after the battle he moved his efforts to the front and eventually the Greater Ark.
The point of destroying it would be to make sure anything imoportant the Forerunners held there would be destroyed. Considering the vast scale of destruction the Star Roads are capable of with ease, it almost seems like it makes no sense for him to NOT destroy it.
Only problem being Halo’s destroy star roads, and firing all of the Halo’s near the capital would have stopped them for forming in the area. So the capital should be safe

I don’t think halos stop a star road from ever going there, just like they don’t stop life from ever coming back.
Roads weren’t present at the battle in Cryptum, doesn’t stop the flood from destroying it later.

There would be no point to it however as the real threat was the Greater Ark
