Is your multiplayer Spartan based on anything?

The title pretty much sums this one up. Does your Spartan have a ‘theme’? Whether it be based off a fictional character, an animal, or even just something from your own personal expression, feel free to share!

My Spartan’s main core is the MK V one. I’m almost done with basing it off of Vigilante from Peacemaker. The loadout goes as follows:

  • Noble Command armor coating
  • Recon helmet
  • ODST shoulders
  • Challenger gloves
  • Bracer Shoulder attachment
  • CHOBHAM leg attachment

The only part I’m waiting for is the Diagnostic Rig chest piece that seems to be unobtainable for now. Hopefully it’ll show up in the shop or in an event soon!

Additionally, I’m trying to make my MK VII Spartan look like a shark. To accomplish that, I’ve put on the lovely Zeta Sky preorder coating… which is all I have right now. I need to wait for either Anubis or Celox to return to the shop, since there’s no other helmets that are ‘pointy’ like them to resemble a snout. I’ll also likely use the shoulder pieces from the Anubis bundle to look like fins.

Id say each armor core of mine is based on a theme.

Unlike most of the Halo community here that desire to just be white and black colors, I like to experiment and create “Leader” designs of spartans; spartans that look like they are the leader of a team.

Its kind of hard for all the cores, so I just use the original and Rakshasha. But my Eaglestrike core is made to look like a deep-bell diver for deep sea scuba

If all else fails, give them the fattest drip (Currently my Rakshasha)

Mark VII Spartan is just me looking awesome.
Mark V [B] Spartan is the technically canon appearance of Noble Six.
Rakshasa Spartan is my ODST Spartan until we get a Helljumper MJOLNIR Armor Core.
Yoroi is my Samurai Warlord obviously.
Eaglestrike is my Entrenched ODST.

I guess my Spartans theme is “I’m not going to pay you money so I guess I’ll make do with this”.

Now back in Halo Reach I use the military police helmet, base security chest piece, and ODST shoulders. In my mind I had some kind of story about them being a marine that rose up through the ranks to become a Spartan. Keeping different pieces of armor as he rose up through the ranks of becoming a Marine to an ODST and then a Spartan. I can’t even remake that Spartan in infinite because the military police helmet isn’t in the game for some reason. I also can’t be the colors that I want to be so… yeah.

Without a doubt my theme is “a spartan from the video game Halo”

it’s based on how much money i’ve spent on this game, absolutely zilch.

My Spartans are just based on how I see myself but can’t seem to get a Pretty decent standard white coating to make it whole

I have the Trailblazer helmet, the neon superfly visor and coating

Looking like a Halo Spartan and not some non-Halo armored thing.

we desire to at least pick our own colors for free, i would also like to be able to earn most rewards without worrying about a time limit or money.

My SPARTAN-IV has always been based on my SPARTAN-III in Reach: Recon (with UA if possible).

All of mine are general purpose, so they look similar. Each set of armor is a different point of time for my Spartan.
Lots of chest/ammo pouches, black and red coatings, Mk. V helmet or helmet visors (like Morrigan on Rakshasa), wide shoulders to cover more of the undersuit, triangle knee guards, wide wrist armor.
To me, my Spartan was one of the SIII’s that got pulled out of Alpha company before they were wiped out. So he was given his Mk. V [B] armor and left to sabotage Covenant when they invaded to buy evac time. He would then be granted his Mk VI armor while training in Anvil before joining Fireteam Crimson on the Infinity. He was eventually moved to the Academy to help acclimate the new SIV’s with his Mk. VII core, though this wasn’t used as often since he was paranoid about AI interference with his armor since the created uprising, he went back to his upgraded Gen 3 Mk. V [B]. Once the low-tech Rakshasa core was out, he hopped on it due to his left-over AI paranoia.
So I guess his main set is Rakshasa, his Mk. VII is kept in the armor hall as a back-up, and it looks brand new (G2 coating has almost no grime on it) and his MK. V[B] is for when things go really wrong and he can’t use either armors.
I imagine when Season 3 hits, the SPI core would be how I imagine his old Onyx-Training armor would have been, but that would see even less use than his Mk. VII.

The second yes, but I don’t support the first.

We been following the same color wheel format for like what, 20 years? Primary wheel, secondary wheel. Same stripes every time. In the end, a vast majority of players just go all black/white, sometimes with stripes anyways. I also usually follow a white/blue stripe on my spartans in Halo games. But Infinite has me rocking a Blue/yellow on my Rakshasha much harder.

Coatings can definitely increase unique and overall more diverse designs. My problem is 343i are really bad at showcasing coatings as that.

I like to have my Spartan sport the old school look while being mixed with the more modern design, with the standard Mk. VII armor with the UA/Agathius shoulders and UA/Type SA knee pads, while also wearing the MK. V helmet with the Helljumper visor, kind of combining the best of both worlds of Spartans and ODSTs. I’m not exactly a pro, but I’d like to think of my Spartan as some sort of SpecOps personnel, with his armor emphasizing on stealth, which would make a good use of the active camouflage to match the black armor.

I haven’t thought of much background, but I guess he can be the survivor of reach who upgraded from a Spartan III to a Spartan VI. He can be a lone wolf, sort of like how I am.

This Spartan of mine is basically my self insert character, which I like to fantasize on a timely basis.

tryna make my guy look like MC. Without Master Chief’s armor it’s kinda difficult though

Well if I may, I’d like to direct your attention to my Spartan"s colors. Since Halo Reach I’ve been Dark Grey and Navy. I used White and Gold in H3. Now with MCC I’m Dark Grey and Navy across all the games.

Infinite is sadly different. I cannot be those colors because this coatings system has removed the ability for me to select my colors. I’m stuck using whatever 343i allows me to have. FYI none are what I want and every time I see my Spartan I’m instantly frustrated and disappointed. Do you have any idea how disheartening that is. To want to play the game because at it’s core the gameplay is solid, but a part of the games identity, your identity, has been constrained and removed from your control in order to sell it back to you. They then try to sell you on the idea that this is better because they can make far more varied coatings than just a basic color select would allow. However you’re still stuck using whatever they’ve made and you most likely will have to buy.

Here we are a full year past launch and I still can’t be the colors I want. Even if I was willing to pay for a coating (which I’m not) they still haven’t made a Black/Dark Grey and Navy. I’ve been disappointed and frustrated for a year. How is this better?

im not saying bring back the same old color system, they just made it worse. it should’ve been like halo 5s armor variants that changed up armor color patterns, thats what the coating should’ve been, different armor patterns to apply with colors being free to pick, not restricting colors too.

Didn’t we all? We all started with the same things. The only difference is that I adapted. I never thought I would end up using light blue/yellow in one armor, and pale green/faded gold on another. But here I am, I created really amazing looking designs. Its too bad I can’t post a pic here to showcase it. Though I understand that you likely created some great designs with… black too. But if you’re capable of using the same colors in each game to create something nice, there is no doubt you are able to also create something good in Infintie as well.

I have yet to receive the colors I want. But what they given us isn’t any bad as well. Though in your defence, a lot of their coatings in Infinite are very ugly. I rotate in between the same ones every time.

I also considered Halo 5’s. As for patterns, they can still work as a “color coating” due to the fact they have to be preset on the armor. If they let us put patterns freely on the armor, it would be like CoD where they just create some toxic design on their pieces.

In my opinion, a color wheel would be a better option. Though in the end, primary and second would still exist, and with all the armor cores, each core and its armor pieces have different positions on where those primary and secondary colors are placed. Overall, their whole cosmetic “diversity” is kind of reliant on coatings.

Of course, you can just create multiple color columns for each pattern to avoid primaries/secondaries. But why do that mess when you can create a preset? Thats why I concluded if they plan to make coatings… at least create good ones. Even Destiny’s common color coatings look better than Infinite’s.
