Hey everyone
I don’t usually play Warzone, its what I would describe as a cesspit. When I do summon the will to go on it however, it never takes more than one game for something completely and utterly ridiculous to happen. I did a game before, and all seemed well. I should have known better. Literally my second game of Warzone in months and it puts me in an in progress game where the enemy already have 700+ points to my teams 200, and they also have every base and several tanks and banshees just spamming the -Yoink- out of our home base. This is pretty standard, I would say around 75% of all Warzone matches I’ve ever played have followed that exact pattern. (Can’t remember EVER joining a new Warzone game, it is ALWAYS in progress and more than half way through).
But despite my knowledge of all this crap, its still managed to surprise me. During the one or two minutes I was in that match before we lost, I got killed 6 times back to back because the game kept spawning me OUTSIDE the Homebase near enemy heavy vehicles. Are you actually serious? As if Warzone wasn’t enough of a steaming sweaty pile of -Yoink-, now this? Has anyone else experienced this?
I’m gonna try like one more game of Warzone and if anything like that happens again, including being join in progress in a nearly lost match, I’m completely done with Warzone. As a solo player there’s literally no point playing it whatsoever. Going off my experience its far more likely than not that I’ll be put in another JIP game with no chance of winning. Thanks 343i, this game mode is fun. I’m really glad I spent so long unlocking all the reqs only to find out I can’t use them because Warzone is a complete -Yoink!- the overwhelming majority of the time /s.

Naturally we ended up losing 1000-156. We got farmed aswell so I’ve been busy reporting people for unsporting behaviour. I love the idea of Warzone, but in my experience it has been executed so poorly.
It’s to predictable for me now. They really need to make the AI move around the map more and be more aggressive IMO. Also make what and where they spawn more random. Have them come down in areas in drop pods at random times stuff like that.
Well it depends on what search reference you have it on. If you have it on expanded you will find the soonest match available if its on balanced it will find a game with about the same amount of players on your fireteam as with theirs. And if its on focused it will find players with the same amount of players on your fireteam as well of players closer to your skill level.
Warzone in theory, is good, but it’s execution was just so poor.
I know 1 of a few ways to fix this that could help:
- Make people who play solo, play against other solo players, likewise with fireteams against fireteams. - Add a mercy rule where if enough people leave or if everyone votes to end the match, the game ends and the winning team gets victory. - Allow the team with the least number of bases captured a faster REQ energy regeneration and faster REQ lvl ups so that the game can progress in a more balanced way.I actually would really like if #3 came true, because there is no way right now that a team getting farmed has any chance of coming back. But if they are given the chance to claim what is theirs again with higher REQs, they could break their line and have a fighting chance.
I havent touched it for a few months; maybe I’ll give it another go. I hate to say it, but to not have a JIP game, you have to tough it out and stay in the lobby afterwards.

I always do buddy. I rarely back out of a lobby if I’m planning on doing another match in that playlist, usually so there’s a higher chance of getting a different map
Yep… needs to be 8v8 on dev made BTB maps… not dev made WZ maps.
It would improve the player experience across WZ/Arena modules and their communities TENFOLD. WZ would also be Forgeable with this design logic.

Hard to take this post even remotely seriously when this is a blatant lie. You can’t get a JIP if one team is past 500 points or if a team is triple capped. Sorry, but this is a fact and you made this up.
It’s just so small, if it were a beta this would be fantastic.
It needs more bases for one thing.
AI need to be able to try and fight back, say a group of grunts have a random chance of spawning in and trying to take a base. (Not OP Ai, that will piss people off)
There also need to be more things you can set up on the base, say you can build a small sheild barrier top the base to protect your side (or any other reason)
Bases need to be more scattered, the way there set up now makes the maps symmetrical, which isn’t bad but it’s boring to have every map that way.
It needs wider areas for vehicles, not cramped locations where a tank can barely squeeze through.
Also, bigger maps, I would like to see some pelican action where you can designate a pilot so you can have him drop and pick up guys.
Also, maybe have options to designate roles on your team, say you spawn in a hanger you can take a pelican or banshee and pilot it to the map safely.
Better spawns as well. On that, let us choose which place we want to spawn a vehicle (it kinda does that now, but mehh…)
When you die, you should be able to look around freely with the camera.
These are just off the top of my head.
Edit: marines need to be a little more active and worthy of being there… all they have going for them is they can take a guy down in a millisecond.
Ai worthog gunners would be amazing too.

Can you please provide a link to these facts I’m just curious cuz I don’t remember reading this anywhere but I’m sure they have this implemented but I just want to see some proof 
If only we could opt out of join in progress games. I wouldnt mind waiting a bit longer to avoid a JIP

I think the reason they went for Forge BTB instead of Warzone was not only because warzone was one of the pushing additions they had in Halo 5, but also because it would just be easier for BTB to be forged instead of Warzone. Adding AI and bases and all this other fancy stuff in warzone would make forge much harder to design.
Now thats not saying I would also like dev BTB maps, having both would be awesome, but if I were to have one over the other, I would have dev Warzone maps over BTB maps.
And also, BTB was an afterthought on 343i’s end, so I didn’t expect much with the BTB playlist, I was honestly impressed by how much they can do with Halo 5’s forge mode.

This comes from experience letting teams purposely cap an armory after they had a bunch of quitters so we could get a bunch of JIP and slay them too. We always had to make sure and get it done before the 500 point mark though. Yeah, I’ll admit it. We used to do such things with 12 man lobbies. lol
The experience is not the developer’s fault in my opinion, it’s the community.
I haven’t touched Warzone in months, and there’s only one map this happens in (I forget the name)

I don’t think you understand what I’m saying… I’m not saying build WZ out of Forge… or BTB again. I’m saying do everything dev made and in doing so, you’d have WZ Forge options within Forge to create different WZ layouts, scenarios/game modes, or full maps.
Think the old Halo games, you’d still be able to have your dev made BTB maps, but they’d be versatile… they’d double up for large scale Arena gametypes, and support WZ gametypes/Firefight. It would be downsized sure, but you’d have the best values for design efficiency and creativity/variety as possible.
It’s all about how you design and package your content, and this would be the absolute best way to satisfy all communities and expand the Forge options even further. People have shown distaste for recycled geometry and remixed maps… there is also a lot of space in WZ maps that is barely utilized in game. It’s ridiculous how big some of the maps are. Think about the time spent on designing these excessively large maps.
Trim the fat and give customers the most bang for their buck. People want a traditional set of maps, some large, some small, with various themes and environment types… presenting a wide variety of gameplay experiences and possibilities. Maximize efficiency in the CORRECT areas within the design philosophy, don’t just reuse geometry and pump out stale, rehashed content. Create maps that support multiple game modes… or in the case of large maps, that also support WZ and that supply customers with enough variety to keep perceptions high.
