Is using automatic weapons frowned upon?

> I commend any player that can use automatic weapons and do as well as a good player using a precision weapon.

The only way someone can “do as well with an automatic” (if you are playing relatively decent players) is by crouching and camping waiting for players to run by and ambush them with an automatic. They may end up doing relatively decent K/D wise but they aren’t helping their team at all because the rest of their team is fighting a man down while the automatic user lurks in a corner somewhere waiting for someone to run by.

Oh but your wrong. They are doing the team good by making the opposition nervous to walk around every corner. You don’t need 4 guys all using precision rifles. One guy isn’t going to get a clear shot over the heads of teammates obscuring his vision it’s not efficient. Every balanced team employs an automatic man. Two on smaller levels. Silly not to.

Heck yea!!! I miss Halo Pro without the Needler and AR. Only automatic weapon I don’t mind getting killed by is the SAW. That weapon is a beast in real life and in Halo.

I much rather get out DMRed/Br’d than killed by a person with an AR.

The Majority of people who use AR’s have negative KD spreads .

No they don’t that’s a stereotype. I go positive with the AR almost every time.

Overall KD is positive? If so then good for you and it is very rare.

Do you use any precision weapons?

Your most used weapon is a precision weapon.

Doesn’t mean he doesn’t use the AR, I go positive in Legendary Slayer all the time with the AR

Positive K/D and the AR is my baby, ever since CE! Whoop! and to answer your question, no, autos should not be looked down upon since precisions are way too easy to use…all hail the carbine…

I didn’t mean to imply my most used weapon is an AR, it’s not. How is using the AR frowned upon? It’s the most iconic weapon in the history of halo.

The AR is frowned upon becuse it doesn’t really take skills to use. A precision weapon is more well rounded. The AR is also frowned upon because all you have to do is shoot. Most people I have played against didn’t move side to side ,didn’t aim well. Heck I played agains quite a few people attempting to shoot at me from across the map with an AR.

All I have to do is shoot you in the head 4 or 5 times and bam, you’re dead.

I used to use an AR in Halo 3, until I woke up.

I have to admit I love the Saw. I use it all the time why? Because it is powerful and not everyone has one. The SAW does not require any skill to use, but I don’t rely on it to get all of my kills. Only time I use it is when there are multiple enemies ,when I am sniping(not all the time) or whenever that is the only good choice in my ordinance.

If I were to pick a sniper or SAW, ill choose the sniper any day.

Like I said before, the SAW is a great weapon in real life too. So it’s power is NOT exaggerated at all.

Then why have automatics at all? Precisions should be better, but you shouldn’t have the advantage at all ranges. The AR is helpful, but I mostly lose to people who use precisions if they land all the headshots. The skilled player should win IF they land the headshots.

Also:

> > I usually don’t lose to Automatics when I use the BR or Carbine. Automatics should be easier to use, but precisions should be better overall. I still find it funny that people expect to win with a LONG-RANGED weapon against a CLOSE-RANGED weapon.

Kids can pick up the game for the first time and still manage to sneak a few kills in simply because the AR kills you if you don’t 4 shot every time when close up.

Granted, they could give us a little more ease up close. But the BR is a mid-range to long-range weapon. The AR is a CQC weapon. If you’re skilled enough you will win almost every fight with the BR and Carbine.

Yep! Headshots are the main reasons why people use precision weapons. The best I have ever did was 24 out of 27 of my kills were headshots. I just hate how my ammo runs out so fast :(.

Agreed!

You have an awesome KD with AWESOME stats!! I forgot to add that. Sam.

Not me!

This is true to an extent. When I have used an automatic weapon against skilled players, I spend most of my time playing cat and mouse while taking the occasion pot shot. It’s very difficult to score a kill with an automatic against skilled players using precision weapons.

Why thank you!

IMO, the suppressor sucks. I’m having a harder time getting my remaining 1000 Suppressor kills, then my Pulse grenade kills. (I’m going for forerunner loadout mastery.) And the occasional lag doesn’t help.

Well, i got called a hacker once because my entire family decided to go on the internet while i was playing (usually just one person on the web will cause lag), and the lag made me teleport all over the place. Still ended the game with 27 kills though (it was a SWAT game)

Automatic weapons may have their own unique kind of skill, but I, among many people, frown on their use just because they have a very specific use. Even the Carbine can be used long-range (albeit not very well) and most precision weapons can be used adequately well at any range.

Autos may decimate at close range, but they’re extremely useless anywhere else, and they’re EXTREMELY useless against more specialized CQB weapons such as the shotty or the sword. They may take skill to use, but that’s only because you’re intentionally forcing the enemy to fall into conditions that are advantageous to you, which is time consuming, instead of simply getting a -Yoink- precision weapon and shooting the guy in the head.
