Is using automatic weapons frowned upon?

I went into a CTF match and did really good using the Suppressor for the first time (even though I think the AR is better) and not one but TWO people messaged me and had a problem with it, saying I suck with skilled weapons and people who “don’t know how to aim use automatic weapons”

I do know how to aim, but I had a blast using the Suppressor, so much that I don’t even think ill start with a precision rifle again. So, is this something that’s frowned upon by the halo community? Do you use automatics?

Unless you were camping, suppressor is harder to use than pretty much any other weapon in the game.

Honestly, ignore them. I get messages like that for doing an all assassination run, or even just jumping/trick jumping in particular. People tend to hate anything that doesn’t fit their convoluted structure of what’s right and wrong.

So yeah, just ignore them and keep on using your suppressor!

(Which, btw, is awesome. That’s what I use for my ninja/jump classes.)

Only by stuck-up self-proclaimed “pros”.

According to one of my friends, would be yes. But I don’t agree with him.

Perhaps they are just butthurt?

Nope, nothing wrong with it. In fact I think it takes more “skill” to down someone with an auto weapon than it does to plunk at them with a precision one. They’re just mad that you killed them with a weapon they can’t figure out how to use. I’m going to start using the AR and Suppressor as soon as the Series 2 McFarlane figures drop in September.

As for people doing trick jumping and trying to get ninja assassinations… I love it when some kid I’m following jumps straight up expecting me to pass underneath only to find that I’ve stopped and assassinate him when he lands.

its just a game and its full of people who build up social rules(like we do in country, towns, school, etc) and some of these folks think if they aren’t killed by a rifle then everyone sucks.

I was in a game and a guy said he ignores power weapons cause he is too good to need them and was whining that the other team needed them to be effective on the field.

see my point.

Don’t worry dude, people get really mad when I go on an assassination spree, they message me saying ‘fight face to face like a man’. I cream them with an AR or suppressor, then they go ‘you suck, you don’t even aim.’ Just ignore them, people hate losing.

Me and my friends usually reply with “BURN YOUR CONSOLE HEATHEN” but that’s just to -Yoink- around, we only care if one of us uses autos.

Anyone claiming the suppressor or any automatics takes less skill than a precision weapon has obviously never used them. You need to be tricky and have steady aim to use an automatic well. I encourage you to continue using the suppressor ignore the trolls, I have to too.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with using automatics; there are just some narrow-minded jerks who look on automatics as “n00b weapons” despite the fact that precision rifles like the Battle Rifle, DMR, and Carbine are actually more powerful and easier to use…

The Suppressor’s spread is so massive that in it’s effective range the enemy’s body is already covering a large portion of your screen. It’s not difficult to use, nor is it versatile.

It’s like saying the shotgun takes skill. Oh please, don’t turn around and make that ridiculous claim as well.

> There is absolutely nothing wrong with using automatics; there are just some narrow-minded jerks who look on automatics as “n00b weapons”

Because frankly they are.

First supporting argument is that so many automatic users explicitly state the reason they use automatics is because they find the precision weapons too difficult.

Second, most automatics punish missing a lot less than precision weapons, and only require you aim at the enemy’s body within a close range where their model is enlarged.

The only way a problem gets fixed is acknowleding a problem exists to begin with, something Bungie never seemed interested in after Halo 2.

I usually don’t lose to Automatics when I use the BR or Carbine. Automatics should be easier to use, but precisions should be better overall. I still find it funny that people expect to win with a LONG-RANGED weapon against a CLOSE-RANGED weapon.

Alright I’ll give you a challenge, use the suppressor for the next 10 games then come back and lets talk about how easy or nooby it is. You need to actually use the gun a few times before you make such statements.

Well to be honest I do not care if people use an automatic weapons since they are free kills.

Whatever gets the job done.

> Well to be honest I do not care if people use an automatic weapons since they are free kills.

Depends weather they are stupid or not. I don’t use an automatic stupidly like AR charging. I throw nades and I make sure I have the advantage. People who AR charge and the like are idiots and are easy kills.

First of all, I have used the Suppressor. I’ve used every weapon in the game.

Second, being useless does not equate to having a skillgap. The Magnum is useless at long range due to bloom slowing its killtime, this does not inherently make it more difficult to use than another long range weapon, like the Sniper Rifle.

Likewise, once you are actually inside the Suppressor’s effective range it becomes very easy to aim. Being useless in all situations except point blank CQC =/= being skillful.

Melee must be the most skillful killing tool in the game if you are basing your argument around this logic.

On-topic I find it funny people would bash people over weapon choice in a game where both weapon types take little skill.

I commend any player that can use automatic weapons and do as well as a good player using a precision weapon.

I expect and think I should win at any range if I land my shots with a precision weapon against a bullet hose that takes absolutely zero aiming ability whatsoever. Kids can pick up the game for the first time and still manage to sneak a few kills in simply because the AR kills you if you don’t 4 shot every time when close up.
