My Xbox Live just expired, and I was planning to do some achievements this weekend. Someone told me that it was Free Gold Weekend, and Google results point that it is Free Gold Weekend, too. I’m pretty sure it’s because of G3, or to support Children’s Miracle Network Hospital.
However, for some reason, I’m still stuck with Xbox Live Free? So is Gold not happening today? I can’t play online or get those achievements without Gold.

I thought it was happening this weekend too. Xbox Live Free are users who have an Xbox Live account, but do not have a subscription to Gold. (No online multiplayer, VEVO, Gold-Exclusive Content, etc.)
Yes I believe that it is indeed this weekend, so you should be able to play multi player.
